Beaches everywhere. Need I say more?

New Zealand is an island country so it?s pretty clear, there are a lot of beaches. If you?re planning a trip this year, I?ll highly recommend Browns Bay, which the best beach Auckland is home to and is the perfect getaway for the entire family. The name sounds more like an old English style caf? doesn?t it?

The beach welcome you to a low tide shore and calm waters, with a grass frontage where you can relax and enjoy a picnic. There?s a neat playground for kids along with some nice places to eat close by.

  • Shakespeare Regional Park is about 8.4 miles from Browns Bay beach, at Army Bay, Whangaparaoa, with lots of walking tracks that trail from 30 minutes to a few hours. Taking the ?lookout track? will give you a glimpse of the native forest, Gully waterfalls and a farmland. The park is open 24 hours from 6 am to 9 pm during summers and 6 am to 7 pm during winters.
  • Starting at just US $20, kids will love the Escape Hunt for a live escape room adventure, located at 495 Lake Road, Takapuna, 5.3 miles from the beach. 1 session lasts 60 minutes and needs to be booked in advance.
  • For shopping checkout, West Albany at 219 Don Mckinnon Dr Albany 0632, which is home to most conventional branded shopping, restaurants and pharmacies with a decent food court. Also, the Attic Shop at 3/9 Bute Road is an ideal spot for women?s clothing, outlet stores and accessories. For bargains and gift shops checkout Mega Choice at 33 Anzac Road.
  • Get a taste of some great food at the Beach Bistro for seafood, Flavours of India for some Asian and Indian cuisine and the Coffee Club for a nice brewed cup along with good eats.

So how do I get to Browns Bay beach?

The best way to travel within Auckland is to get an AT Hop card which works for buses, ferries and trains. The card saves you 20% on normal fares and can be purchased for US $7 and topped up for US $4. Just swipe the card on the electronic readers and you?re good to go.

Luxury without the cost

A stay at Ramada Albany will get you a 2 bedroom apartment for just US $249 per night, a superior villa by the beach at Sea La Vie in the Bays costs US $360 per night and for US $209 you can get a family room at the Anzac Court Motel, for a family of 4.

Auckland Beach Vacation. More than just Hobbits and sheep!

A trip to the wonderful Auckland is worth every penny and minute spent. For a time to rejoice, relax and revel there?s no better place to be at with your loved ones.

  2. Hi, what a great post. As you say, I’ve never considered New Zealand for its beaches! A friend has just emigrated to New Zealand and bought some land and is building a cabin to live off grid. When I go visit I will definitely use your guide and visit some beaches.
    Thanks
    Justin

  4. A New Zealand beach vacation sounds great - especially if my family can see some scenic pastures of sheep along the way.   I love all things farm and ranch.    I do not know a lot about the climate in New Zealand.   What months of year is best to visit the beaches?

  5. Good Article. I think New Zealand tends to get over looked as a prime vacation destination.  I have friends that go to Australia semi-regularly and NZ is usually only allotted a day or two for the trip.  Plus some of the quoted prices in you are vary reasonable.  Vacations tend to get real expensive with a larger family.  Thanks for the post.

  6. Hi Tarun. It is a fact that New Zealand never comes in our minds whenever we sit together to plan our vacation travels. I have heard it is one of the most beautiful countries. Your wonderfully written article has forced me to decide that New Zealand must be my next vacation’s destination. By the way, any idea what are the temperatures over there during June/July? Any idea?

    • Hi GeeEss,

Because NZ is in the southern hemisphere, the seasons are reverse to that of Europe or North America. In June and July are the winter months and are very cold.
