The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel Reviews
Review for The Manhattan at Times Square HotelWe stayed here for two nights on our first visit to New York City. The best part of the hotel is its location — right in the heart of Times Square, which made it easy to explore the city on foot without needing our car. That convenience was a big plus. However, our experience with the hotel itself was disappointing. Most of the staff, including the front desk, bellhop, and waitstaff, came across as quite rude, even after we offered tips as a kind gesture. Only one lady during our stay was kind and helpful, which stood out.Our initial room was very small — barely enough space to open our suitcases on the floor. It had an old, noisy AC and a tiny bathroom, which didn’t match what we expected, especially for the price we paid (around $700). After raising our concerns and paying extra, we were finally moved to a better room that was more spacious, quieter, and comfortable. One incident that really stood out was when we returned to the hotel to use the restroom and were denied access to our own room because it was being cleaned. We were asked to wait and couldn’t use the restroom in the meantime, which felt unreasonable. We ended up having to go to a nearby McDonald’s instead.Overall, while the hotel’s location is unbeatable, the service and room quality left a lot to be desired for the cost. We enjoyed the city itself, but I wish our hotel experience had matched the energy and hospitality we felt outside.
May 16, 2025 · Lucky ReddyThe location is incredibly convenient. The rooms were very nice and appeared to be either newly renovated or recently built. There was a delay in the room allotment but they obliged and offered a temporary room.Everything felt fresh and well-maintained, which made for a pleasant stay. ELIDA did an excellent job in room maintenance. She was very welcoming and lively and kept extra supplies on days she wasn’t around. While the space was a bit on the compact side, it wasn’t an issue for us given how excellent the location was. Overall, a great choice if you’re looking for comfort and convenience.
May 24, 2025 · Sanjita satishI'm a seasoned traveler, but this hotel was probably the worst place we've ever stayed at! False advertisement of rooms. Our room was disgusting, I had to wear shoes in the room because the carpeting was filthy, the bathroom had mold, the heating and air didn't work, the phone didn't work. they had a King size mattress on a queen size bed frame! We were guaranteed a newly remodeled room, but upon check in we were told they don't have any. They knew we were staying there for my son's wedding along with 15 other people and they absolutely refused to comply with what what they guaranteed us!!! Also, we were told no additional service fees would be added because our total price included the fees upon booking which we paid in full at the time of booking. When we checked in we were charged additional fees and deposits. I overheard many complaints from other guests as well. DO NOT STAY AT THIS PROPERTY BECAUSE THEY'LL TELL YOU ONE THING AND THEY'LL DO AS THEY PLEASE! STAY AWAY! WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER!
May 19, 2025 · Wadiha BadgerThis hotel was a disappointment. My room (1523) looked as if it hadn’t been updated in decades. The toilet handle had to be jiggled to seal the flapper, the faucets leaked water all over the counter, the base of the particle board door to the bathroom was disintegrating, there was pink mildew at the corner of the tub, the ceiling was water-stained, the wallpaper was peeling, the outlets worked, but were so worn that the plugs fell out if I nudged the cord, the a/c had to be set at 66 degrees to cool the room (and it was NOT even remotely close to 66 degrees), the coffee maker didn’t work, and I had to hang a hanger on the closet doorknobs to keep the doors shut and keep them from banging into the entry door. There are no USB outlets, so bring a wall plug if you decide to stay here. Housekeeping made the beds the first day, but didn’t show up until 4 pm the next day. My room was right next to the elevators, and I heard the bell dinging and guest noise all night long. The beds are acceptable, and there were no bugs, I was housed and safe. The location is walkable to all of the theater district, which is what I came for. Value for the money? Pretty low. I’m not a clean freak, and this was gross even by my standards. I’ll stay somewhere else next time. They say they’re renovating, but they need demolish what’s existing all the way down to the studs.
May 07, 2025 · Valorie PleshaHad a renovated room. It was clean and nice. Comfy bed and all was good. They forgot to put towel hooks. Had to use hangers. Seems to be no insulation in the walls. We could hear people next door, in the hall, ice machine going (3 rooms away) and the “ding” from the elevator. It wasn’t horrible but it was there. Great location. Easy walk to everything we wanted to do.The bell hops/concierge was amazing. Those guys were all so friendly and helpful. Will stay again.
