Ash Creek/Riverside Drive Open Space Reviews
Located adjacent to the marina, this open space and conservancy is a marvelous place to take a leisurely hike and take in a bit of nature. It has a long path that mostly parallels the water, and one can occasionally see some wildlife. I was rather disappointed that on the day of my visit, there was a log barricading the entrance to the conservancy at the entrance by the playground, but at least was able to take in the part on the other side by the marina. It was highly utilized by people walking, or in some cases, chasing their dogs, as recklessness appeared to be custom rather than the exception. Pretty much along the way on both sides there are numerous signs warning of the danger of swimming in this area. It's obvious to see why.
Aug 20, 2023 · Burt ShoobsAs a professional dog walker, I take my clients here all year long. It is one of my favorite places to take my clients and my own dogs. You can bring a picnic lunch, see excellent views of St. Mary’s by the Sea, and watch boats at the marina. I love this parcel of land to watch the sunrise in the morning and say my prayers.
Apr 15, 2018 · Lee Prail-TothI was just passing through Conn, on my way to Mass, and decided to take a walk somewhere nearby to the highway, and came across Ash Creek. If I can use any word it would be WOW! Wow for the short but beautiful trails, wow for the various and diverse birds, wow for "sea"ing a waterway enter the ocean, and wow for the various activities that can take place there. Upon arriving wasn't expecting to do much but once doing the trail loop once and seeing a cool chipmunk or similar, I decided to help out and pick up trash that was found along various pathways. I also took time to watch a stork or something similar as well and see it try to fish for fish, lol. Great to do that while seeing other birds flying around the wetlands just chillaxing. At the end of the pier I got an amazing opportunity to see where the Ash Creek meets the ocean which was really cool and saw some fisherman casting a line. Besides that you will find people there walking, running, fishing, walking there dogs, and even kayaking/canoeing. I would love to do the latter on my next time passing through but today loved just being amongst the people, animals, and trees:) 10/10 must go!
May 30, 2023 · emanuel spitalnyGreat little walking area! It is small, so you can walk along the water and then back through the grass in a little loop. Saw multiple doggies walking along as well! But keep an eye on them if you walk near the water, as there are little crab holes in the sand 🦀
