Emeline Park

30 Liberty St, Haverstraw, NY 10927, USA

4.0
Nice little park on the Hudson, nestled in Haverstraw with a cool breeze off the water. Also of note, is a historic marker proclaiming the site of an event in the Revolutionary War, where Andre and Arnold met in a treacherous plot against the Continental Army. There is a 600 ft sand beach to walk that is strewn with interesting artifacts if you like to beach comb or take pictures. It's also a fishing beach and an old ferry dock which may have been the park's original purpose. All that's left are the pilings and an ancient haul out ramp for old wooden river boats in industries long gone. In the parking lot, hanging in weeping willows are two wonderful wind chimes that play melodious music over picnic tables in the grass. There is also a small caged basketball court. Hi-Tor Mountain is behind you and across 9W. That's a good hiking spot with great views. And another reason to come here. But, that's another story... - rodney marione
