One of the key advantages of Fisherman's Park is its direct access to both Wappinger Lake and the Upper Wappinger Creek. This prime waterfront location is a significant draw for anglers and nature enthusiasts. For those arriving by car, the park offers a modest number of parking spots at the entry point, providing convenience for visitors. While the parking area may not be vast, it generally suffices for the park's more intimate capacity.
In terms of pedestrian access, the park features a paved path that allows for easy strolling, even with the water's edge just steps away. While some larger parks in the region boast extensive trail networks, Fisherman's Park focuses on providing a direct and accessible connection to its waterfront. For individuals with mobility considerations, it’s worth noting that customer reviews suggest the park is generally walkable and "strollable," though it's always advisable to assess specific needs upon arrival. The park's relatively flat terrain near the water's edge contributes to its ease of use for many visitors.
While Fisherman's Park might be modest in size, it provides key services that cater to its primary function as a tranquil waterside destination.
- Fishing Access: As its name implies, the park is primarily designed to facilitate fishing. It offers excellent access to Wappinger Lake and the Upper Wappinger Creek, both known for various fish species. The creek, in particular, is regularly stocked with trout, including brown, rainbow, and brook varieties, enhancing the angling experience.
- Paved Path: A well-maintained paved path allows for easy movement along the waterfront, making it suitable for leisurely strolls and providing a stable surface for visitors.
- Parking: A limited but convenient number of parking spots are available at the park's entrance, simplifying arrival for those driving.

- Catch and Release Fishing: The park operates on a catch and release policy for fishing, promoting sustainable practices and preserving the natural ecosystem of the waterways for future enjoyment.
Fisherman's Park, despite its understated nature, boasts several features that contribute to its appeal and define its unique character.

- Under-the-Bridge Ambiance: The unique setting under the bridge adds a distinctive architectural and atmospheric element to the park, offering sheltered areas and a unique perspective of the surrounding landscape.
- Connection to Wappinger Greenway Trail: While Fisherman's Park itself is a distinct location, it provides access for fishing at Wappinger Lake, which is part of the larger Wappinger Greenway Trail system. This regional trail connects various natural and cultural resources, making Fisherman's Park a potential starting or ending point for a broader exploration of the area's natural beauty.
As a public park managed by the local municipality, Fisherman's Park does not typically offer commercial promotions or special discounts in the traditional sense. Its primary "offer" is its free public access to a beautiful natural resource. However, its value to the community lies in its consistent availability for outdoor recreation and relaxation.
For those interested in fishing, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) regularly stocks the Upper Wappinger Creek with trout, which directly benefits those who visit Fisherman's Park. While not a park-specific promotion, it's a significant ongoing effort that enhances the fishing experience at this location. Anglers should always check the latest NYSDEC fishing regulations and stocking reports for the most up-to-date information on species, seasons, and any licensing requirements.
Local bait and tackle shops in the Wappingers Falls area, such as The Lake House on South Road, may offer their own promotions or specials on fishing gear or boat rentals, which could indirectly benefit visitors to Fisherman's Park. It's always a good idea to check with these local businesses for any current deals that might enhance your fishing trip.

Fisherman's Park Reviews
Not really a park, & not a place you would want to take your kids unless you were strictly fishing... but it's a beautiful spot anyway and more quiet under the bridge than you would think. Also good for skipping rocks 😅
Feb 16, 2023 · marie ellisIt's OK. Short trail very walkable / strollableMurky water. One guy we saw actually caught a fish (I was wondering if anything to catch). Place is catch and release. Probable more walkable areas but I just did as far as under bridge. Definitely need some kind of boat to explore more of the water. Ehh not a place I'd revisit. Few parking spots at entrySorry not sure what happened to taking pics
Jul 06, 2024 · tasha crichlowNice little park. Great for watching birds, geese and ducks on Wappingers Lake. This isn't your typical park. Very limited parking - maybe 8 parking spots.
May 30, 2017 · James TurnerWent here for some quick fishing during the day. Catch and release only. Not that it mattered, didn't catch anything, but there are plenty of areas on shore to fish from.
Sep 02, 2018 · Alexander DragosSo i went quickly to fish under the bridge. Too much offensive graffiti. Felt kinda sketchy. I left after about 15 minutes.
