A total of 3 miles can be walked counterclockwise in about an hour and a half. It is a great course for walking with a dog as it has a variety of walking paths and intermittent flowing water. This is an easy course that allows you to walk halfway across Lake Ramapo. The altitude is less than 500, so it is easy enough path for even beginners who have difficulty climbing uphill. When you reach the top of the Castle loop, you can see the beautiful ruined structure of old castle. The view of the Manhattan skyline and the magnificent Ramapo Lake from there is the highlight of this course.Parking is easy here during the week.

Dec 07, 2021 · SarahThis is a great place to go riding.not your regular city bike park tho, the riding is another level a lot of climbing nothing compared to Cunningham park or others similar to it. I love Cunningham but for this place you need to have a lot of physical condition since it requires a lot of peddling up hill. Get ready for it and go for it.
Jan 06, 2019 · Luna REAGreat parking spot to go hiking. Gets crowded quickly. Went on a freezing day and the whole lot was one quarter ice. Had to walk on it with crampons. Often patrolled by police, one person ticketed for not parking in an appropriate spot.
Feb 16, 2018 · RobertThe problem here is that the parking area is so small that it is quickly filled up on weekend. I assume that a roadside parking along Skyline Drive is allowed on weekend. I did not got a ticket when I parked on roadside shoulder many times. From here you can enter several trails. Yellow trail to south leads you to Ramapo Lake.Take red trail if you want to hike to Ramapo Water Tower Ruins and Van Slyke Castle. In summer I do not take orange trail to Millstones because there are so many mosquitos thriving on the wetland along the trail. Car break-ins in the parking lot were reported. It was closed for a while because of bear appearance. Alas, no restroom!!!
