Kittrell Park Introduce
Nestled in the heart of White Plains, New York, Kittrell Park stands as a vibrant and multifaceted recreational destination, serving as a cherished community hub for residents and visitors alike. Located at 120 Fisher Ave, White Plains, NY 10606, USA, this 1.67-acre specialty park, situated on a multi-level site at the intersection of Fisher Avenue and Irving Place, offers a diverse array of amenities designed to cater to a wide range of interests and age groups. As a prominent scenic spot, Kittrell Park not only provides a pleasant environment for leisure and relaxation but also offers corresponding services and features that enhance the overall user experience.
The environment of Kittrell Park is characterized by its thoughtfully designed layout and modern facilities, a result of significant renovations and upgrades over recent years. The park is well-maintained, offering a welcoming atmosphere for everyone. While one user review notes that the "flooring never seems to be swept" in certain areas, the overall impression is one of a continually improving space. The park's design incorporates both active and passive recreational zones, ensuring that there's something for every preference. Lush green spaces provide areas for general enjoyment, while dedicated activity zones are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
One of the primary attractions and services offered at Kittrell Park is its extensively renovated swimming pool. Described by users as having "comfortable beach chairs," the pool underwent a significant upgrade in 2015, transforming it into a modern aquatic facility. The new pool boasts a multi-rectilinear shape, moving beyond the traditional municipal pool design. Key features include a zero-depth entry, making it accessible and safe for young children and individuals with disabilities. It also offers a large activity area and four lap lanes, catering to both recreational swimmers and those looking to get in a workout. Beyond the main pool, there's a state-of-the-art children's water play area, featuring interactive water sprays, water cannons, and fill-and-dump activities, ensuring endless fun for the younger demographic. The existing bathhouse has also been upgraded and modified to comply with ADA requirements, ensuring accessibility for all visitors. Pool admission is free for White Plains residents with a current Recreation ID card, while non-residents or guests may be subject to fees. Season passes are available, with youth/seniors typically costing $25 and adults $35 for a season pass. Two forms of ID are required to obtain a pool pass, and additional information can be obtained by calling 914-422-1336 or 914-422-1251.
Beyond the aquatic offerings, Kittrell Park is a haven for fitness enthusiasts and families. The park features an outdoor fitness area, which was incorporated into the facility's footprint to make it a "fitness destination." This area, noted by a user as "Good park for working out. Pullup bars and dip bars are available as well as a horizontal ladder where I place my suspension trainers," offers equipment for users 14 years and older. Stations for ab crunch, leg lifts, cardio stepper and elliptical, and chest/back press are available, providing a comprehensive outdoor workout experience. This feature makes Kittrell Park unique as it was one of the first parks in White Plains to boast such dedicated public fitness equipment.
For children, Kittrell Park offers a new, fully accessible and adaptable playground, catering to children aged 2-12. This inclusive playground is a highlight of the park, ensuring that children with disabilities can play alongside and with other children without obstacles. It features a colorful array of play structures, including slides, ramps, a wiggle ladder, lollipop climbers, play panels, and a wobble pod, all set on a poured-in-place rubberized safety surface for enhanced safety. The dedication to inclusivity in the playground design underscores the park's commitment to serving the entire community.
Sports enthusiasts will also find their needs met at Kittrell Park, which is equipped with two basketball courts. These courts are a popular feature, known for their heavy usage, especially during July when youth basketball fills the park with excitement. The courts have recently seen improvements, with the White Plains Common Council agreeing to spend $200,000 to resurface and upgrade them, addressing previous concerns about their condition and ensuring a better playing experience for all users.
In terms of services, the park's pool operations run daily during the summer months, typically from mid-June until late August. Pool hours are generally 1:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Saturday and Sunday, with various hours during weekdays. It is advisable to check the most current schedule through the White Plains Recreation & Parks Department or by calling the park's phone number. The park also provides essential facilities such as restrooms, locker rooms, and seating areas including chairs and tables, enhancing visitor comfort and convenience.
Kittrell Park's appeal as a scenic spot extends beyond its specific amenities. Its location in Fisher Hill, just steps from the city's downtown area, makes it easily accessible for many White Plains residents. The park's improvements, which were part of a two-year full renovation completed around 2016, have significantly elevated its status as a premier recreational facility. The commitment to maintaining and upgrading the park ensures that it remains a valuable asset for the community, providing opportunities for active recreation, social interaction, and leisurely enjoyment in a beautiful environment.
Promotional information emphasizes Kittrell Park as a place for "poolside fun for you, your family, and friends," and highlights the pool as "one of the best kept secrets in White Plains." The park is frequently cited as an excellent location for swimming during the summer months and for engaging in youth basketball activities. Its inclusive playground and comprehensive fitness area further contribute to its reputation as a versatile and welcoming outdoor space. The ongoing commitment to upgrades, such as the basketball court resurfacing, demonstrates the city's dedication to providing high-quality recreational facilities for its citizens. Kittrell Park is more than just a green space; it's a dynamic and evolving community resource, offering a wide array of activities and services that cater to the diverse needs of White Plains residents, making it a true gem among local scenic spots.

Kittrell Park Reviews
Good park for working out. Pullup bars and dip bars are available as well as a horizontal ladder where I place my suspension trainers. The only gripe I have is that the flooring never seems to be swept.
Aug 18, 2020 · Peter MarinoPool has been renovated. Comfortable beach chairs!
Aug 29, 2016 · Evelyn FerrisNice playground for young kids. This park is nice because there is a corner with trees that gives you some shade (playgrounds don't seem to have any shade!). I have fond memories with my toddler son here.
Aug 22, 2022 · J AsturiasNice little park. One of the few with an outdoor gym. Also has a public pool for county park pass holders.
Feb 03, 2024 · Ted ShimizuThis park is a hidden gem in White Plains 💎. Not only do they have a beautiful and clean park for the kids, but they have a fitness area with some great equipment! There's a pool too and some basketball courts. Not sure if they are going to be open this spring but closed now. No dogs allowed in the kids play area which is the only fenced area of the park.
