Maplewood Park Introduce
Maplewood Park, located at 67 Gaby Ln, New Rochelle, NY 10804, USA, serves as a local scenic spot and recreational hub for residents. Managed by the New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Department, this neighborhood park provides a convenient and peaceful setting for a variety of activities, making it a valuable asset for the community.
Maplewood Park offers a generally quiet and often uncrowded environment, which is a significant draw for those seeking a tranquil escape within the urban landscape of New Rochelle. Despite its proximity to a highway, which can sometimes lead to noise, many users appreciate the park's serene atmosphere, often finding it to be a good place for quiet time. The park is characterized by its open spaces, contributing to a sense of calm and providing room for informal recreation. The City of New Rochelle actively works towards environmental sustainability and stewardship across its parks, with ongoing efforts to maintain and improve green spaces. While specific natural features of Maplewood Park beyond its general green areas are not extensively detailed, the broader city initiatives suggest a commitment to fostering healthy outdoor environments. Residents can also participate in annual park clean-up events, demonstrating community involvement in maintaining the park's environment and promoting a sense of shared responsibility.
As a scenic spot and recreational area, Maplewood Park offers several amenities aimed at serving local users. The primary features include a playground and a basketball court. The playground is particularly geared towards toddlers and youth, although some user reviews note that the equipment, including the baby and youth swings, appears dated, old, and shows signs of wear and tear from weather exposure. Similarly, the basketball hoops are described as being quite old, indicating a need for potential upgrades. Furthermore, the pavement within the park is noted to be cracked and not well-maintained, which is a consideration for activities like running. Despite these observations regarding the condition of some facilities, the presence of these amenities still provides opportunities for active and passive recreation. The New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Department provides year-round programs and services across its diverse park system, which includes various recreational areas. While specific programmed activities directly within Maplewood Park are not explicitly listed, the department's broader offerings suggest that local users may find opportunities for engagement through city-wide initiatives, such as summer camps, sports programming, and special recreational events. The park's accessibility and its role as a convenient local spot contribute to its service to the immediate neighborhood.
The core features of Maplewood Park are its designated play areas for children and its basketball court. The playground, while noted for its age, still provides a space for young children to play. The presence of both a baby swing and a youth swing indicates an attempt to cater to different age groups within the toddler and early childhood demographic. The basketball court, despite its condition, still serves as a functional space for pick-up games and recreational shooting. Beyond these specific amenities, the park's most prominent feature, as highlighted by users, is its tranquility and often empty nature. This makes it an ideal location for individuals or families seeking a peaceful outdoor experience without the crowds typically found in larger, more active parks. Its small size contributes to this intimate atmosphere, allowing for a more personal connection with the green space. It is worth noting that the City of New Rochelle has previously sought public input for potential design concepts for Maplewood Park, which included ideas for plaza-type open spaces, shade structures, performance lawns, expanded playground areas, improved pathways to the Colonial Greenway, multi-use sports courts, naturalized plantings, and even dynamic fitness and skateboarding areas. These concepts indicate a vision for enhancing the park's features in the future, aiming to offer a more diverse range of recreational opportunities and improved facilities for all ages.
While specific current promotional campaigns for Maplewood Park are not readily available, its value to the local community is clear. The park serves as a convenient and accessible green space for residents, offering a nearby option for outdoor leisure and play. Its peaceful nature makes it an attractive spot for individuals looking for quiet reflection or for parents to spend quality time with their children. The New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Department actively promotes community involvement in its parks through events like the annual Parks Clean Up Weekend, where volunteers are encouraged to help maintain local parks, including Maplewood Park. This fosters a sense of community ownership and shared responsibility for the park's well-being. Although direct services or goods for sale within the park itself are not indicated, the park's category as a "Scenic Spot" means it intrinsically provides a valuable public service: access to nature and recreation. Future upgrades, as suggested by the public input initiatives, could significantly enhance its appeal and offer more structured recreational opportunities, potentially leading to increased visitation and community engagement. For now, Maplewood Park stands as a quiet, accessible neighborhood park, offering a convenient retreat for local users seeking a moment of peace or a casual outdoor activity.

Maplewood Park Reviews
Park is quite and 8/10 times always empty which I like. The toddler play section is dated, old, and dirty from wear and tear due to the weather & they only have one baby swing and one youth swing. The basketball hops are old as my grandmother and she 92 lol (God bless her soul). The pavement is all cracked and not well maintained so I wouldn't recommend running. It's convinent and peaceful, good place to spend some QT with my oil one.
