Melrose Hotel Introduce
The Melrose Hotel, located at 444 E 149th St, Bronx, NY 10455, USA, offers a practical and comfortable accommodation option for travelers to the Bronx. While not a "Scenic Spot" in the traditional sense of a natural landmark or curated attraction, within the context of a platform categorizing points of interest, a hotel functions as a "Scenic Spot" by providing essential services (lodging) to visitors who are exploring the broader scenic and cultural landscape of the area. It serves as a base from which to access the various attractions and experiences the Bronx has to offer.
Operating with a phone number of (718) 715-1948 and a mobile phone contact of +1 718-715-1948, the Melrose Hotel positions itself as a reliable and accessible choice for those seeking a stay in this vibrant borough. Reviews from real customers consistently highlight several key aspects of the hotel, painting a picture of a "true diamond in the rough."
The Melrose Hotel is situated in the Melrose neighborhood of the Bronx, an area known for its dynamic urban character. As customer reviews candidly state, the hotel is "in a rough neighborhood." Visitors should be aware of their surroundings, particularly at night, with mentions of "drug dealers/users and zombi people." However, it is crucial to note that guests also frequently emphasize that despite this external environment, the hotel itself is perceived as "beautiful, clean and safe." This contrast is a recurring theme, suggesting that the internal environment of the hotel offers a significant respite from the busy streetscape.
The hotel's location offers notable advantages for connectivity. It is positioned with excellent access to public transportation, specifically being a short walk from the 3 Av - 149 St. Station (serviced by the 2 and 5 subway lines) and Jackson Av. Station. This makes it highly convenient for guests looking to navigate not only the Bronx but also to easily reach Manhattan and other parts of New York City. For those visiting attractions, the hotel is within a 10-minute drive of major Bronx landmarks like Yankee Stadium and the Bronx Zoo. Central Park and Columbia University are also within a short drive, making it a viable option for those exploring a wider range of New York City destinations.
The interior environment of the Melrose Hotel is designed for modern comfort and functionality. The hotel features 31 air-conditioned rooms, described as clean, sleekly designed, and comfortable. Reviews often praise the "excellent ventilation system and climate-control in each room," as well as the ability to "open the window." This attention to in-room comfort contributes significantly to the positive guest experience, allowing for a peaceful and relaxing stay despite the surrounding urban environment.
The Melrose Hotel prioritizes essential services and features to ensure a pleasant and hassle-free stay for its guests. The emphasis is on core hospitality functions, delivered with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.

Many reviews explicitly commend the "helpful staff" and their positive interactions. This personal touch differentiates the hotel and fosters a welcoming atmosphere.

- Strategic Location for Transit: While acknowledging the neighborhood, the hotel leverages its proximity to subway stations (3 Av - 149 St. Station and Jackson Av. Station) as a major convenience. This makes it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers who prioritize easy access to New York City's attractions, including Yankee Stadium, which is "10 minutes away" by car and easily accessible by subway.
- Affordability and Value: Guests often note that the Melrose Hotel offers "good value" or is "budget friendly and affordable." This positions it as an excellent choice for travelers looking for a quality stay without the higher prices typically associated with hotels in Manhattan. Prices can fluctuate, with some reviews indicating a range from $126 to $289, and noted that "match day price hitting double" near Yankee Stadium, but overall it's considered good value.
- "Don't Let That Deter You": The hotel implicitly (and sometimes explicitly through guest reviews) encourages potential visitors not to be discouraged by the neighborhood's reputation. The strong internal attributes of safety, cleanliness, and excellent service are presented as outweighing external concerns.
- Online Presence: The hotel utilizes online travel agencies (OTAs) like Expedia, Hotels.com, and Kayak to list its amenities, showcase photos, and gather reviews, which serve as direct testimonials for promotional purposes.
In conclusion, the Melrose Hotel at 444 E 149th St, Bronx, NY 10455, offers a compelling option for travelers to the Bronx. While its immediate surroundings may be bustling, the hotel itself provides a highly clean, safe, and comfortable environment with modern amenities and consistently praised customer service. It functions effectively as a "Scenic Spot" for those seeking a practical and well-serviced base from which to explore the vibrant culture and attractions of the Bronx and beyond.

Feb 15, 2025 · Rick NayaPeople talking about being unsafe but be in times square Penn station most of midtown and Washington square Park you can get attacked in any of those locations . This hotel is wonderful and amazing I grew up in the community and I know it can be tough but that doesn't mean you shouldn't explore the beauty of the neighborhood
Apr 22, 2025 · Shawn HallThe Melrose Hotel is a diamond in the rough. The hotel itself was safe and clean, with 24/7 front desk security and a strong surveillance system. The front desk staff was kind and helpful and the cleaning staff was consistent and thorough. We stayed for a week and enjoyed the hotel. Having a private bathroom this close to Manhattan and for this price was a great combination. The surrounding area can be well described as "active" with many street vendors and sketchy people around, however we never had any issues or felt truly in danger despite sticking out in the crowd. The hotel is a quick (
