Plum Point Park Reviews
Love this spot. Great place to come hang out, whether you're just sitting, fishing or swimming... it's beautiful and will definitely be one of my main spots. Not the best area if you're looking for somewhere to really walk around though, mainly for lounging. There's also an area where you can get your own small boat into the water. There are a few separate areas that provide access right to the river. Very relaxing to be able to sit right by the river and listen to the water - almost feel like I'm on a real beach listening to the ocean waves - I miss that. Have really missed vacations since covid began so I appreciate what this place gives me 💕 the river is really the treasure of the valley ❤
Aug 14, 2021 · JTWe were here 17 years ago and decided to come here to have a Romantic Picnic here to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary ❤️ 💕 💖 it was wonderful the view as we sat on the bench eatig home made Buffalo chicken wings, watermelon, olives and shrimp Patty's was a delight the park has changed but the view looking over the river was worth the 2 hour drive from Brooklyn. There is also 1 portable toilet available and nice area for the kids to play , a few grills if you're planning on cooking, and feel free to bring garbage bags to put your things in after cleaning up.
May 29, 2023 · DSNBeautiful park with one of the most scenic views you can find of the Hudson River and Valley. Great spot for fishing or just relaxing. The park says swimming is prohibited but it’s not enforced, so people do anyways. Also has views of the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, as well as Bannerman Castle in the distance.
Aug 09, 2021 · Alec HargreavesPlum Point Park has beautiful views of the Hudson River. The trails aren’t long. There are two parts to the park - New Windsor and Orange County each control part of the area. There is good parking, a playground, picnic tables and grills. The park is the site of earliest European settlement in Orange County. Sadly, it is a prime example of what happens to the native landscape after being overrun by invasive species. Japanese honeysuckle is rampant and has eliminated almost everything else in the understory, except the invasive berries and encroaching barberry. Downed trees are everywhere, not just the result of storms, but also the terrific weight of invasive bittersweet vines. It’s tragic and probably cannot be easily rectified. My photos were taken on a cloudy, cold day. It was still a good view.
