PUBLIC Hotel Reviews
If you’re booking PUBLIC Hotel expecting a premium hospitality experience, you might want to manage your expectations. The vibe is unmistakably cool—yes, it’s where New Yorkers come to work, socialize, and be seen—but as a hotel for travelers, especially those who prioritize comfort and service, it leaves a lot to be desired.Upon arrival, there was no real customer support at check-in. It’s a fully self-service setup, and while that might appeal to tech-savvy locals, it feels impersonal and frustrating after a long trip. Questions? Good luck finding someone who seems available—or even willing—to help.As for the amenities, several of the basics that were listed weren’t available. Even simple things like in-room coffee or tea weren’t provided. For a hotel at this price point, that’s not just an inconvenience, it’s a glaring oversight. The rooms themselves feel more like upscale dorms than a thoughtfully appointed hotel. They’re minimalist to the point of discomfort, and while the aesthetic might appeal to some, travelers looking for warmth, functionality, or value won’t find it here.PUBLIC might work for locals who want a stylish place to plug in and work during the day or grab a drink in the evening, but if you’re visiting New York and expecting service, comfort, or amenities that match the steep prices, you’re better off looking elsewhere.

A perfect place for evening hangouts and unforgettable sunsets.🥂 Service & Atmosphere:Top-notch hospitality, smooth check-in, and friendly staff. Everything felt seamless and welcoming.💬 Final Thought:A perfect blend of comfort, class, and city chic. Definitely a must-visit for both tourists and locals alike
May 26, 2025 · Asraf HossainI was torn between 3-4 stars but ultimately had to go with three. This is a really cool place to come visit once, but probably not a second.Pros:-Super cool design and overall vibe. Lot of photo ops-a lot of spots to choose from in the hotel; downstairs coffee shop, the Peruvian restaurant, the upstairs bars, the hangout lounge area, the nightclub, rooftop bar. Overall you could spend hours just in these spots alone-good location- very walkableCons:The lounge area seems to allows the general public to come in and work from the lounge. It’s nice that it adds people to the vibe but I found a couple times I couldn’t find a spot to sit and relax. Also some of the folks that come work from here bring all their outside food, put their feet up on the coffee tables, and bring multiple screens to take zoom calls- so it takes away from the well designed upscale atmosphere and feels like a crammed Starbucks with remote workers.-the rooms don’t have any of the small details that are important to me: there’s an empty mini fridge, no slippers or robe, no water, no lotion or kits that you would normally find in a hotel.-I gave service 1 star because check in is automated and other than the one person helping people use the ipad for checkin, there was no one else to talk to in terms of hotel service. (The restaurant/bar people were great) I personally don’t like the iPad checkin, I like the human to human experience, but that could just be me-the noise was terrible. I could hear people coming out of the elevators and walking down the hallways drunk all throughout the night. It’s unfortunate the sound travelled into the rooms like it did because the room was so cozy and cute and I was excited for a good sleep. It could be cause I was given a room that opened up right to the elevator landing
Apr 05, 2025 · Kristina KovacevicThis hotel is pretty cool, contemporary and a great location. They make good drinks at their bar. You don't really ever see anyone working there but they do a nice job with a peerless check-in process and cleaning the spaces. No white robes though - don't be fooled by the photos
Apr 26, 2025 · Rebecca Plaza-PonteSemi-transparent glass separating living space from toilet. Clear side profile visible for anyone trying to do their business in solitude. Zero privacy, would recommend only for solo travelers. There are a lot of us who truly hate this sort of "design." Photo speaks for itself.
