Red Carpet Inn - Newark Irvington Reviews
~The good~•The employees were very friendly! All nice and helpful people! The guy who checked me in was so helpful!•The staff are available 24/7!•The ride to NYC was fast.•The room was spacious.~The bad~•My room was completely infested with bugs (roaches and ants). I’ll try to attach videos, but I think it’ll only allow pictures, so I’ll take screenshots. All the bugs made me nervous to sleep there. Just make sure to keep all your belongings in ziplock bags, so you don’t take bugs home.•Bedding was stained.•I’m like 95% sure someone tried to follow me to my room (I’m 110lbs, 5’7, female). I walked pass my room, so he couldn’t see where my room was. I walked up to the 3rd floor until he finally stopped following me & I had to take the long way back down to my room on the 1st floor. Luckily I had a knife on the strap of my bag. When I got to my room, I slid a table in front of my door just in case.
Nov 17, 2024 · Angel ReedWhatever you do stay away. It’s a sketchy hotel. The area is not safe. The staff are rude. They don’t say hi or acknowledge you in any way. The building is very unkempt. The halls smell of urine and cannabis. The elevator wasn’t working. There are weird people loitering the halls. The room they gave us had cockroaches so they gave us a new room. The walls are also paper thin. You can hear everything in the halls and also the units above. My mom and I stayed for 5 nights and for every day we were there we had to get a new key because they would all stop working after each use it seemed. Which was annoying. The first time this happened there was no one at the desk to help us for at least 10 minutes. We phoned the hotel twice hoping a staff member would hear it from wherever they were. But nothing. Finally like 12 minutes later we saw a staff member in the hall approaching the desk. They saw we had been waiting there and there was zero sense of urgency. He was moving at literal snail speed. He didn’t apologize for the wait or even say hi to us. In fact he didn’t say a single word to us. We asked him for a new room key and he gave it and that was it. Not one word was exchanged on his end. It was like that every night when we came back to the hotel and had to get a new key. The second morning we woke up to a knock on the door at 8AM and before we could even answer the door they unlocked it and just walked in. It scared the heck out of us because it’s a super sketchy hotel in a sketchy area and they just barged in unannounced. Turns out they came in to inspect the fire alarm. Why did they not give us any kind of notice or warning in advance??? They really scared us. The maid also only cleaned parts of the room. She only made one of the beds for some reason which was kind of weird. There was nothing on any of the other beds. She didn’t collect the dirty towels while she was there. Strange. This hotel just really was not it. I’ve never had so many bad things to say about a hotel. Very disappointed. I wish I could give it 0 stars.
Nov 18, 2024 · Julia PessotskiThis is without a doubt, the worst hotel I've ever stayed at in my entire life. If you need a comparison, this is that type of hotel that once you step foot into your room, you're going to ask yourself whether or not you should book a place somewhere else because this place is just that bad. I actually had this conversation with my partner once we entered our room. Anyways, here are some of my complaints. The front desk person was rude and unprofessional and exhibit a "I hate my job" attitude. He was on a personal call while checking me in. Totally, leave me alone attitude. No greeting or hello whatsoever. The carpet in the entrance and throughout the hallways of the hotel smells like urine and smoke. It is almost unbearable. You're going to be holding your breath throughout the entire walk to your room. The smell in the room is not as bad, but still unpleasant. Needless to say, the carpet are filthy and looks like it needed a deep cleaning over a decade ago. This alone is a deal breaker for most. The light switches that control all the lights in the room are near the door. There are no light switches near the bed so you'll need to get up and walk to the door to switch off the lights. The towels are really cheap material and does not dry the body. There are no hooks in the bathroom to hang towels or other accessories. There is no hair dryer, no coffee maker, no microwave, no safe locker. There is only 1 wall outlet for charging your phone or other electrical devices in the bedroom. Furniture are extremely outdated, old and dirty. It looks worst that donated furniture. It looks like something you see on the side of a curb for trash pickup. The walls are thin and you can hear when someone is walking or talking outside your door. Extremely noisy at night. During my 3 night stay, there was someone playing really loud music up until 4am in the morning. It wasn't the guests in the room next to mine but instead I think it was coming from above. The phone doesn't work. The TV freezes on some channels. There is no ice maker or water fountain. They can only activate one room card at a time. Once they activate a second card, the first card stops working and they weren't able to fix it.Area does not feel safe. There was always at least 1 person outside, even at 2-3am in the morning, smoking MJ.Housekeeping staff was extremely rude and once again exhibits the "I hate my job" attitude. When asked for fresh towels, she scowled at us and rudely demanded, "give me your towels," then threw them on the floor, gave us new ones and then walked off annoyed. No other words were exchanged besides "give me your towels."You might be thinking about staying here because this place is cheaper than other places, but honestly, its not worth it. Spend a bit more and avoid this horrible establishment. A ruined vacation is not worth it.

Apr 19, 2025 · Carmant PeterThere's no reason this hotel is posted on social media and doesn't look like it's posted, there is work to be done, it smells like mildew in the entrance hallway and the prices are way too high for what you get. Here.
