Satterly Landing Park Introduce
Satterly Landing Park, located at 195 Shore Rd, Mt Sinai, NY 11766, USA, is a hidden gem and a cherished "Scenic Spot" nestled along the tranquil waters of Mount Sinai. This park stands out for its serene environment and its primary focus on passive water-based recreation and quiet enjoyment of nature. As a platform categorized under "Scenic Spot," Satterly Landing Park inherently provides access to its beautiful natural environment. While it may not offer direct sales of goods or services on-site, its existence supports local businesses that cater to outdoor enthusiasts, such as bait and tackle shops, kayak rentals, or small eateries that benefit from visitors drawn to the park's unique charm.
The environment of Satterly Landing Park is consistently described as "very quiet" and "tranquil." This peaceful atmosphere is a major draw for visitors seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle. The park's prime location on the waterfront offers "great views" of the surrounding water and coastline. A key aspect contributing to its tranquility is that "the boats are always on the other side of the cove," ensuring that the immediate area for fishing, kayaking, and relaxation remains undisturbed by motorized vessel traffic. This creates an ideal environment for activities like paddling, where one can "easily be paddling here for a couple hours, no problem." The natural beauty is further enhanced by the "lots of fun art on the pilings," adding a unique, charming, and artistic touch to the marine infrastructure. The park's landscape includes natural shorelines and possibly some grassy areas suitable for quiet contemplation or setting up for fishing. The emphasis is clearly on maintaining a natural, uncrowded setting, making it a peaceful haven. The general uncrowded nature is a significant advantage, providing a more intimate experience with nature compared to busier parks.
In terms of services and features, Satterly Landing Park primarily facilitates water-based recreational activities. Its core service is providing direct access to the water for "fishing, kayaking, or just to see the sunset." The park is specifically highlighted as a "nice place to launch a kayak," indicating that it has suitable access points for small watercraft, likely a designated launch area or an easily accessible shoreline. While there are no formal facilities like boat rentals directly on-site, the availability of a launch point makes it a valuable resource for those who own their own kayaks or paddleboards. The park caters to passive recreation, offering a peaceful setting for activities like fishing, which requires minimal infrastructure beyond access to the water. A critical piece of information conveyed by a reviewer is the absence of a "porta potty here," which means visitors should plan accordingly and maintain the cleanliness of the area by packing out anything they bring in. This absence reinforces the park's more rustic and natural approach, emphasizing self-sufficiency for visitors. The overall experience provided is one of unadulterated access to the natural beauty of the Sound, allowing for serene enjoyment of the marine environment. The focus is on enabling direct interaction with the water and its surroundings without extensive commercial development.

The consistently "uncrowded" nature is a significant draw for visitors who prefer a more personal and intimate experience with nature, avoiding the typical throngs found at more developed parks. Satterly Landing Park Reviews
Very quiet place to be either fishing, kayaking, or just to see the sunset. The area is tranquil because the boats are always on the other side of the cove. No porta potty here so keep it clean. You can easily be paddling here for a couple hours, no problem, and not crowded. I love been in the water and the sound always have these places to have lots of fun.
Jun 22, 2023 · Markos VidalonGreat views in this out of the way stop. Lots of fun art on the pilings. Quaint, quiet, a nice place to launch a kayak!
Oct 13, 2020 · Mike BinderMy go to spot for catching steamers. Check the nysdec website for open shellfish harvest areas. As of January 2018, this area is only open from November to April. Steamers must be at least 1.5 inches, 100 pc catch limit for the recreational harvesters.
