It redefines the traditional hotel experience with its innovative approach to guest access and focus on essential comforts. It's an ideal solution for individuals or couples who prioritize affordability and accessibility without compromising on safety or privacy. The hotel's emphasis on a streamlined, code-based entry system ensures a hassle-free arrival, eliminating the need for traditional check-in lines and offering a greater sense of personal space throughout your stay. This makes Shefah Hotel particularly appealing for those who prefer a more independent and discreet lodging experience.
Shefah Hotel is conveniently situated at 3307 Palisade Ave, Union City, NJ 07087, USA. This address places it in a prime location within Union City, a vibrant and well-connected community in Hudson County. One of the most significant advantages of its location is its exceptional accessibility, particularly for those looking to travel to and from New York City.
For New Jersey locals, reaching the hotel is straightforward, whether by car or public transit. Union City itself is easily accessible from major highways and local roads, making it a convenient destination from various parts of the state. For those relying on public transportation, local NJ Transit bus routes serve the area, providing seamless connections to surrounding towns and cities.
The true highlight of Shefah Hotel's location, however, is its incredible proximity and direct connection to New York City. A bus stop offering direct service to New York City's Port Authority Bus Terminal is an easy 5-minute walk from the hotel. This means you can be at the heart of Manhattan – just one block from Times Square – in as little as 10 to 25 minutes, depending on traffic. This remarkably short commute is a game-changer for anyone considering a visit to NYC, as it eliminates the need for expensive parking or lengthy, complicated public transport journeys often associated with staying directly within the five boroughs.
The frequency of buses is another major benefit, with departures from the hotel's nearby bus stop often under 5 minutes. For the return trip from NYC, buses from Port Authority depart every 10-15 minutes, ensuring a consistently smooth and efficient journey back to Union City. This seamless connectivity makes Shefah Hotel an exceptionally attractive option for those who want to experience the best of New York City while enjoying the significant cost savings and more relaxed atmosphere of staying in New Jersey. The neighborhood surrounding the hotel is also consistently described by guests as feeling safe, adding another layer of comfort and peace of mind for visitors.
Shefah Hotel focuses on providing essential services that enhance convenience and security for its guests.
Code-Based Room Access: Guests receive a unique code for their room, eliminating the need for a traditional check-in desk or key cards. This streamlined process allows for immediate room access upon arrival, provided the code has been sent.
Shared Bathroom Access: For rooms booked with shared facilities, there is typically one bathroom per floor. Guests have consistently reported no issues with access, even during peak times, ensuring privacy with a locking door.
Enhanced Security: The design of the hotel, with no daily trash collection from rooms, contributes to a heightened sense of security as staff do not routinely enter guest rooms during a stay. Guests can easily dispose of their trash in a public bin located near the bus stop.
Clean and Essential Amenities: Rooms are designed to be functional and secure, typically featuring a bed and a small shelf, providing a comfortable and private space for guests.
Accessibility Information: The hotel's website and contact information are readily available for specific accessibility queries.
Shefah Hotel stands out for several key features and highlights that contribute to its appeal, particularly for those seeking an economical and efficient stay near New York City.
Unbeatable Value for NYC Access: This is arguably the biggest highlight. Guests consistently praise the hotel for offering significantly better prices compared to accommodations directly in Manhattan, even when factoring in the cost of New Jersey Transit buses. This allows visitors to experience New York City without the exorbitant lodging expenses.
Effortless Commute to Manhattan: The 5-minute walk to the bus stop and the 10-25 minute bus ride to Port Authority (just one block from Times Square) is a major draw. This quick and direct connection is a significant advantage over hotels located far out in Queens or Brooklyn, which often entail travel times of over an hour to reach Times Square.
"No Check-In" Convenience: The code-based entry system provides a hassle-free and immediate access to your room. This modern approach to lodging means no waiting in lines and a smoother start to your stay.
Guaranteed Privacy in Shared Bathrooms: Despite some initial concerns about "open-concept showers" (as mentioned in a review), guests confirm that shared bathrooms are private, locking from the inside, and designed for one person at a time, ensuring full privacy during use.
Sense of Security: The policy of not entering rooms for daily trash collection, while unconventional, gives guests a greater sense of security and privacy, as no one enters their personal space during their stay.
Safe and Convenient Neighborhood: The Union City neighborhood surrounding the hotel is described as feeling safe, which is a crucial factor for many travelers. Additionally, the proximity to a Target store near Port Authority offers a convenient option for affordable meals and groceries, further enhancing the cost-effectiveness of a stay.
While specific, ongoing promotions are best confirmed directly with Shefah Hotel, the hotel's core offering is its inherent affordability, which serves as a perpetual "special offer" compared to other options. Guests often find that booking tickets for New Jersey Transit buses in bulk (e.g., buying 10 tickets for $32 instead of $4 each) provides a built-in saving, effectively acting as a continuous discount on transportation.
For the most up-to-date information on any potential seasonal discounts, extended stay rates, or special packages, it is always recommended to contact Shefah Hotel directly using the provided contact information. Shefah Hotel Reviews
Excellent and affordable lodging option. The room is accessed via a code, so there's no check-in process—you just need to wait for the code to be sent to you in order to enter the room. We booked a room with a shared bathroom. There’s one bathroom per floor, and during the week we stayed, we never had any issues accessing it. One review mentions an "open-concept shower," but don’t let that worry you. The bathroom is for one person at a time and locks from the inside, so you’ll have full privacy when showering.Staying in NJ instead of Manhattan is 100% worth it, even considering the additional cost of New Jersey transit buses. You need to buy tickets that cost $4 each, but if you buy 10, they cost $32. The bus stop to New York is a 5-minute walk from the hotel, and depending on traffic, you’ll get to Port Authority (the bus terminal) in 10 to 25 minutes. The longest we ever had to wait for a bus was under 5 minutes. From Port Authority, you’re just one block from Times Square. So don’t be afraid of staying a bit outside NYC—you’re actually much closer than it seems. For the same price, your other options would be places far out in Queens or Brooklyn, with estimated travel times of over an hour to Times Square.Just a note: trash is never collected from the room, but personally, that gave me a greater sense of security since no one enters your room. There’s a trash bin along the way to the bus stop, so it’s easy to take out the trash yourself. For the return trip from NYC to the hotel, you take the bus from Port Authority. Buses leave every 10–15 minutes. Half a block from there, there’s a Target, which is a great option for buying dinner and saving a bit on food, which is very expensive in NYC.In conclusion, if you don’t mind sharing a bathroom with strangers and staying in a room that only has a bed and a small shelf—but is very secure—I 100% RECOMMEND this place. The neighborhood feels safe.
May 29, 2025 · Felipe PiñaGood prices for NY (but you have to keep in mind $ 4 one way to the city center) but even if you book a specific room… they give you another one
May 31, 2025 · Josep Gavilá BoscáThis stay was really great! It was very affordable and very basic, yes. They supplied all basic amenities, including WIFI. You can hear other people, but it was always quiet in my experience. Parking was meh (street parking), but they supplied a parking pass, which definitely made it so much better. The staff at the hotel was very kind and was available during business hours to assist with all needs. Mainly, the location was EVERYTHING! So, I'm rating 5 stars for that alone. Literally, a 15+ minute ride into the city. A few blocks from the bus stations, lots of great food options, very nice and clean area, also the roads aren't TOO wild here! The area has culture and lots of little shops to check out. I will stay here again and I highly recommend!! A+++
Nov 08, 2024 · Lavender LadyPleasantly surprised by this place!perfect quality/price balance if you just need a place to sleep for a couple of nights. Comfortably located next to bus station in a quite safe area just 10mins away from NYC, easy access and nice staff working here. Room and shared bathroom were spotless, and building quiet. Definitely recommended especially for solo travelers
Nov 12, 2023 · AiNe eNiAThe hotel is well located near bus station and 15mn to times square by bus or car. The problem is the hygiene and found the place not clean at all. We might have good pictures but the smell ..oh my God. Just when you open the main door there is a horrible smell coming from room 1. 1 bathroom and one shower per floor( each floor has maybe 7 rooms). My stay was from 29 Dec to Jan 2. I left on the first.
