The environment of The Box House Hotel is a harmonious blend of industrial chic and cozy, residential comfort. Housed in a beautifully converted factory, the hotel retains architectural elements that speak to its historical past, such as high ceilings and large windows, which are complemented by modern, artistic touches. The interior design is thoughtfully curated, featuring original artwork by local Brooklyn artists and unique, individually decorated rooms that feel more like stylish apartments than traditional hotel accommodations. The lobby, as noted by guests, immediately conveys a sense of warmth and high-end comfort with ample seating areas. Many rooms and suites boast impressive views of the Manhattan skyline or the surrounding vibrant Brooklyn neighborhood, transforming the urban landscape into a dynamic backdrop. Despite its location in a sometimes industrial area, the hotel manages to create a serene and quiet atmosphere indoors, offering a peaceful retreat from the city's ceaseless energy. The common areas are designed to be inviting, fostering a sense of community among guests, whether in the elegant restaurant, the sophisticated bar, or the well-appointed fitness center.
As a leading "Scenic Spot" for accommodations, The Box House Hotel provides an extensive range of services and amenities that cater to both short-term visitors and extended-stay guests. A standout feature, as highlighted by numerous reviews, is the inclusion of full or partial kitchens in many of their spacious suites. This allows guests the flexibility to prepare their own meals, a significant advantage for longer stays and those looking to save on dining out. The hotel offers a daily buffet breakfast, often praised for its delicious options, including a favorite oatmeal bowl, though it typically comes with an additional fee. For dining, the on-site restaurant and bar, Brooklyn Lantern, provides convenient and highly-regarded options for both breakfast and evening meals. Guest services are a strong point, with an attentive and friendly staff consistently lauded for their exceptional hospitality. This includes 24-hour front desk service, concierge assistance, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. The hotel also offers laundry facilities, though one customer review mentioned older machines that might require running clothes through the dryer twice. Other notable services include a 24-hour fitness center with a sauna and steam room, a business center, and free high-speed WiFi throughout the property. The hotel also frequently serves as a sought-after wedding and event venue, particularly leveraging its stunning fully retractable rooftop space that offers breathtaking views of Manhattan and NYC, providing top-tier in-house planning and catering services for special occasions.
The features that truly distinguish The Box House Hotel make it a prime choice for various travelers. Its spacious rooms and suites are significantly larger than many typical New York City hotel rooms, with some even offering separate living areas, private terraces, or balconies. This ample space is particularly appreciated by families or those on extended trips. The "Art Deco" theme, combined with individually furnished and decorated rooms, gives each space a unique personality. The comfortable beds, often described as some of the best by guests, contribute to a restful stay. Beyond the in-room amenities like flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations, coffee/tea makers, and eco-friendly toiletries, the hotel also provides practical features such as complimentary cribs for infants. The location, while not in the immediate heart of Manhattan's tourist hub, is strategically beneficial. It's nestled in Greenpoint, offering a more authentic Brooklyn experience, and is conveniently located about a 15-minute walk to subway stations (like the G train) that provide easy access to Manhattan's main attractions. Furthermore, the neighborhood boasts nearby markets for groceries and alcohol, and a variety of local restaurants and bars, as noted by satisfied guests. The hotel's commitment to sustainability is also evident through practices like the use of LED light bulbs and eco-friendly cleaning products. Super great visit here, first time staying in Brooklyn and couldn’t have asked for a nicer attending staff. Breakfast was delicious, one of my favorite oatmeal bowls I’ve had. I also like the rooms, they were very clean the design was great! The only issue was their laundry machines here were old and the washer did not spin the clothes enough so we had to run them through the drier twice

Mar 03, 2025 · Jonathan GruenI recently stayed here with my family and while the actual hotel was okay, the customer service left a lot to be desired. On our last night, we were trying to bathe our three and five-year-old and put them to bed but there was no hot water in the bathroom. My husband asked the front desk to move us to another room so we didn’t have to put them in a cold bath in the middle of February. They sent a woman from housekeeping who didn’t believe us when we said we ran the water for 15 minutes and it wasn’t getting warm. She checked it and once she realized that we were in fact telling the truth, they agreed to find us another room but apparently all rooms in the wing we were staying in had no hot water. Eventually, we moved to a new room with hot water but the staff was rude about it. When we checked out the next morning, there was no apology from the front desk staff. For $400 a night, there are better places to stay in the area. I wanted to like the hotel but I won’t stay here again when I come back to visit friends in Brooklyn.
Feb 22, 2025 · Lauren LoricchioDON'T GO IF YOU NEED A CRIBThe hotel itself, rooms included, was very nice and above my expectations. However, my room specifically had an AC that wouldn't turn on and, despite pre-arranging a crib for my 1 year old baby, they ran out of cribs by the time I checked in. After having to really argue with the hotel over it and contact Airbnb Support, the hotel finally got my AC fixed and brought a crib from a sister hotel around 11:30pm - resulting in getting to bed with a baby around midnight. One person at the front desk was kind and one was not. But the kind person brought the crib that night and offered a free breakfast, which I appreciated. Airbnb Support on their own volition also provided me with a 10% discount over the issue. The hotel proceeded to leave me a false and defamatory review on Airbnb - falsely stating that they delivered the crib within minutes (it actually took over four hours), saying I pressured their staff for a free breakfast (it was offered on their own volition and I didn't even know they had a breakfast at that time), and falsely stating the $80 refund was provided at my behest based on me lying about the lack of a crib to Airbnb Support (when, in fact, when I called Airbnb there was no crib provided and no plan by the hotel to provide a crib and Airbnb ended up providing the $80 refund on their own overnight while I was sleeping because I didn't answer my phone when they called).I then called the manager of the Box House Hotel to discuss the false review. I encountered the worst managerial hotel customer service I have ever experienced on that phone call (which was recorded). The manager confirmed the negative review of me was left in retaliation for me calling Airbnb Support and that they would only remove it if I removed my negative review of the hotel (both of which are against Airbnb policy). The manager stated that cribs, even if pre-arranged in advance and despite being advertised as an amenity without any disclaimer, are never guaranteed at the Box House. So any parent that comes there with a baby does so at their own risk. She said that instead of calling Airbnb Support that night, I should have just cancelled my reservation when I realized that I wouldn't be happy with the hotel (which would result in a fee) and tried to find a new hotel at 11:30pm at night with my baby. She said that would be the only way to avoid a negative review. The manager refused to offer any apology or any empathy for what a nightmare this was for a couple with a baby.
May 26, 2025 · Zachary M.This is the third time we stayed at this hotel. Never disappoints. Great vibe, clean rooms, super friendly and honest staff. (mailed expensive earbuds to our home after being left behind) Check out the Brooklyn Lantern and see Dave for a Perfect pour on a Guinness!
