Victory Field Introduce
Victory Field, situated in the Woodhaven section of Queens, NY 11421, USA, is a prominent and multifaceted "Scenic Spot" within the larger Forest Park. As a platform providing detailed insights into recreational areas, we recognize Victory Field as a unique blend of natural serenity and vibrant community activity. It serves as a central hub for sports, relaxation, and social gatherings, making it a highly valued green space for local users and visitors alike.
The environment of Victory Field is a testament to urban park planning, successfully integrating diverse landscapes to cater to a wide range of uses. One aspect of its environment is the "extremely serene and beautiful" natural setting, particularly around the lake. Even in colder months, the "frozen lake" surrounded by "bony branches" casting "striped shadows" creates a picturesque and peaceful atmosphere perfect for a contemplative walk. This natural beauty contrasts with the more active areas of the field. The park features a newly installed track and a well-maintained grass field, indicating significant investment in its recreational infrastructure. Surrounding these active zones are mature trees that contribute to the park's aesthetic appeal and provide shade. Despite being within a bustling urban borough, Victory Field often offers moments of quiet enjoyment, allowing users to connect with nature. However, it's also noted that the park can be "super crowded every day the sun is shining," highlighting its popularity and the lively, community-oriented atmosphere during peak times. This duality of serene pockets and active zones defines its unique environmental character.
The services at Victory Field are extensive and cater to a wide array of recreational needs. Managed by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (NYC Parks), the park benefits from regular maintenance to keep its facilities in good condition. Key services include the provision of sports facilities such as the running track, grass soccer fields, and handball courts. These areas are regularly prepared for use by various groups, including "cool soccer tournaments" and "runners groups," which keep the park "very active." The park also features amenities typically found in large urban parks, such as water fountains, though some users express concerns about water quality in these, which is a common issue in many public parks. While not directly at Victory Field, access to public restrooms within Forest Park would generally be available at nearby comfort stations. The phone number, (718) 235-0815 or +1 718-235-0815, provides a direct line for inquiries regarding park services, programs, or general information. NYC Parks also provides community programming, including fitness classes, youth sports leagues, and potentially cultural events, which contribute to the park's dynamic atmosphere and service offerings to the local community.
The features of Victory Field are designed to support both passive relaxation and active recreation, making it a highly versatile "Scenic Spot."
- Running Track: A new running track is a significant feature, popular with runners and walkers, providing a dedicated space for exercise.
- Grass Field: The "new... grass field" is ideal for soccer, frisbee, and other field sports, accommodating large groups and events.
- Handball Courts: Dedicated handball courts offer space for this popular New York City sport.
- Lake: A prominent feature is the lake, which offers a "serene and beautiful" environment for walks, and provides a picturesque backdrop for relaxation and nature observation, even when "frozen."
- Concert Space: An interesting, though currently "unused," large concert space near the handball courts suggests potential for future cultural events or conversion into additional recreational facilities, such as basketball courts, as suggested by a user. This highlights a feature with untapped potential.
- Shade and Open Space: The park blends open, sunny areas with tree-lined sections that provide shade, offering comfortable environments for different activities.
- Community Hub: Beyond specific amenities, Victory Field serves as a vital community hub, facilitating social interaction and active participation in sports and outdoor activities. Its popularity means it's often bustling with people, creating a lively atmosphere.
From a promotional perspective, Victory Field is celebrated as a cornerstone of Forest Park and a vibrant "Scenic Spot" for the Woodhaven community. It is promoted as an excellent destination for physical activity, whether it's running on the track, playing soccer, or engaging in handball. The park's ability to be both "serene and beautiful" for quiet contemplation and "super crowded" with active "soccer tournaments" and "runners groups" highlights its broad appeal. Promotional messages would emphasize its versatility, catering to families, athletes, and nature lovers alike. The recent upgrades, such as the "new track and grass field," are likely highlighted to attract new visitors and inform regulars of improvements. The potential for future development of the unused concert space could also be mentioned in long-term promotional visions, showcasing the park's evolving nature. The park's accessibility via public transportation and its integration within the larger Forest Park system further enhance its promotional value, positioning it as a significant green space easily reachable for Queens residents. The constant activity and community engagement seen at Victory Field are strong indicators of its successful promotion as a place where people can gather, play, and enjoy the outdoors.
In conclusion, Victory Field in Woodhaven, NY, is a dynamic and essential "Scenic Spot" within Forest Park. It seamlessly combines areas of natural beauty, such as its serene lake, with robust facilities for active recreation, including a new running track, grass fields, and handball courts. While it can become very busy due to its popularity, this vibrancy is a testament to its role as a vital community hub for sports and social interaction. With ongoing maintenance and potential for future enhancements, Victory Field continues to be a cherished and highly utilized green space, offering diverse opportunities for outdoor enjoyment for the residents of Queens.

Victory Field Reviews
Extremely serene and beautiful. Perfect for a walk around the frozen lake, enjoying the rays of the sun casting striped shadows through the bony branches.
Feb 23, 2025 · Sophia ChristiaanGreat park! Super crowded every bday the sun is shining lots of cool soccer tournaments, and runners groups that keep it very active as well. There are bad water fountain that every NYC park has, which I think doesn't give clean water. The new track and grass field is cool! Near the handball courts there is a large unused concert space that the city should paint into a basketball court, or something similar.
Jul 22, 2021 · Joseph DinasI really enjoy this park, it's located adjacent to Forest Park and the amazing walking trails and closed to the bandstand (across Woodhaven). There's a great track and plenty of areas for playing all types of sports. Plenty of shady areas with benches to sit, relax and enjoy the weather. Really easy access to via SBS Q52 & Q53 MTA Bus. Best of all most of the water fountains work, but more importantly I always feel safe here no matter what time of day.

Apr 26, 2018 · John RodAudit. For legal Americans and the people.1. Quality went down since 2019-- a lot of drugs and alcohol bottles broken all over the dirt trails. Not safe for children.Police and parks doing nothing even though they are here. No enforcement for smoking weed in a park and around children. Illegal.2. Large unhealthy bodies of water due to no drainage and pipes leaking.3. Dogs are off leash on trails with owners not near them. Regularly, it's the culture.Parks workers not seen except the same young black woman who cleans the entire Forest park from Victory to 80th street Park Lane.
