Winslow Park is conveniently situated at 25 CT-136, Westport, CT 06880, USA. This strategic location in Westport, Connecticut, makes it a highly accessible destination for dog owners throughout Fairfield County and indeed, across the broader Connecticut region.
Westport itself is a well-connected town, easily reached via major state roads and proximity to Interstate 95. CT-136 (also known as Compo Road South in parts) provides a direct route to the park, ensuring a straightforward drive from neighboring communities like Norwalk, Fairfield, and Darien, as well as a manageable journey from areas further north or east in Connecticut.
The park's specific address places it slightly off the main commercial thoroughfares, contributing to its peaceful and natural ambiance, yet still within easy reach for daily visits. Ample parking is typically available, accommodating the many visitors who flock to this popular dog park. The design of the park, though "not 100% fenced in," is strategically located "totally away from the street and stuff," which is a crucial safety feature for an off-leash environment. This thoughtful layout provides a secure feeling, allowing dogs to roam freely without immediate concerns about road traffic. The fact that dogs can have their "first off leash not fenced in experience" here speaks volumes about the park's safe and welcoming layout. This combination of easy accessibility and a secure, natural setting makes Winslow Park an ideal choice for Connecticut locals seeking a worry-free environment for their dogs to exercise and socialize.
Winslow Park is primarily dedicated to providing a safe, expansive, and engaging environment for dogs and their owners, offering several key services and amenities that enhance the experience:
Designated Off-Leash Area: The park's standout service is its status as an "off-leash" park. This allows dogs the freedom to run, play, and explore without the constraints of a leash, which is a rare and highly valued offering in Fairfield County.
Expansive Open Space: Winslow Park boasts "plenty of 'open space'" in its central area. This vast expanse is perfect for dogs to "socialize and play," providing ample room for games of fetch, chasing, and general frolicking without feeling "trapped within a small space."
Wooded Hiking Trails: Beyond the open fields, the park also includes "wooded hiking trails." These trails offer a different type of experience, allowing dogs and their owners to enjoy a natural walk through the woods, providing varied terrain and sensory stimulation for the dogs. This dual offering of open and wooded areas caters to different exercise preferences.
Water Fountain: A "very nice water fountain" is available, providing a convenient and essential service for both dogs and their human companions to stay hydrated, especially during warmer weather or after vigorous play.
Complimentary Dog Waste Bags: The park provides "plenty of dog bags for no cost." This thoughtful amenity promotes responsible pet ownership and helps keep the park clean and enjoyable for everyone, reinforcing the park's commitment to a pleasant environment.
Socialization Opportunities: Due to its popularity, the park naturally fosters a vibrant social environment. Dogs can "make some new friends right away" with "lots of sweet dogs here too," and owners often find opportunities to connect with fellow dog enthusiasts.
These services collectively create a comprehensive and highly appreciated offering for the dog-owning community in Connecticut, making Winslow Park a top choice for canine exercise and enjoyment.
Winslow Park distinguishes itself with several key features and highlights that firmly establish it as a premier destination for dog owners and outdoor enthusiasts in Connecticut:
Expansive & Varied Terrain: One of the most significant highlights is the sheer size and diversity of the park. It seamlessly integrates large, "open space" areas for free-range play with "wooded hiking trails." This variety ensures that dogs get a well-rounded exercise experience, from high-energy sprints in open fields to stimulating walks through natural woodlands, catering to different energy levels and preferences.
Safe Off-Leash Environment: Despite not being fully fenced, the park is designed to feel incredibly "safe." Its location "totally away from the street and stuff" provides a natural barrier, allowing dogs to enjoy their "first off leash not fenced in experience" with confidence. This secure feeling, combined with generally "mindful and alert" owners, makes it a rare and highly valued off-leash haven.
Strong Sense of Community & Responsible Pet Ownership: The park fosters a positive and respectful community among dog owners. Reviews frequently mention "lots of sweet dogs here" and the rarity of "incidents," indicating that visitors are generally attentive and responsible. This collective mindfulness enhances the safety and enjoyment for all users, making it a pleasant social hub.
Essential Dog-Friendly Amenities: The provision of a "very nice water fountain" and "plenty of dog bags for no cost" showcases the park's thoughtful design and commitment to pet comfort and cleanliness. These small but crucial details significantly enhance the overall experience for both dogs and their owners.
"True Treasure in Fairfield County": This sentiment, echoed by a professional dog walker, underscores the park's reputation as a standout destination. It offers a level of freedom and quality of environment for dogs that is difficult to replicate in more confined or less thoughtfully designed spaces. Its unique combination of open space and natural trails truly sets it apart as a regional gem.
Natural Beauty and Freedom: The overall atmosphere of freedom and natural beauty is a major draw. Dogs can truly express their natural instincts to run and explore in a vast, stimulating environment, which is highly beneficial for their physical and mental well-being.
These features collectively make Winslow Park a highly recommended and cherished destination for dog owners seeking an exceptional outdoor experience for their pets in Connecticut.
As a public park managed by the Town of Westport, Winslow Park does not typically offer commercial "promotions or special offers" in the traditional sense, such as discounts or loyalty programs. Access to the park and its various amenities for dogs and their owners is generally free.
However, the "special offer" for Connecticut locals comes in the form of the invaluable service it provides:
Free Off-Leash Access: The primary "promotion" is the ongoing free access to a large, well-maintained, and safe off-leash environment for dogs. This is a significant benefit for dog owners, as dedicated off-leash areas of this quality are not always readily available or free of charge.
Complimentary Amenities: The provision of a water fountain and free dog waste bags can also be considered a valuable "offer," as these essential items are provided at no direct cost to visitors, enhancing convenience and promoting responsible park use.
For information on any potential town-sponsored events, dog-related programs, or community initiatives that might take place at Winslow Park, it is always advisable to:

While you won't find a "buy one get one free" deal here, the continuous and free availability of such a high-quality, pet-friendly public space is itself a substantial and cherished benefit for Connecticut residents.

Winslow Park Reviews
10/10 tons of fun with the pup, safe even though not 100% fenced in totally away from the street and stuff! It was our dogs first off leash not fenced in experience and he had a ton of fun. Lots of sweet dogs here too, made some new friends right away!
Apr 23, 2025 · A L ə XAs a professional dog walker working in Fairfield, I find this is the only designated park I enjoy taking both my own dogs and my clients dogs. There is plenty of “open space” within the park creating a feeling of freedom to pets that cannot be replicated in a simple fenced in area. This park has bothwooded hiking trails as well as a central area for dogs to socialize and play yet not feel trapped within a small space. Incidents are rare and most everyone is mindful and alert to their dog. There is a very nice water fountain and plenty of dog bags for no cost.I highly recommend this park as a true treasure in Fairfield County.
Aug 05, 2018 · Lee Prail-TothMy dog loves it here. Lots of people gather for off leash playtime and trail walking. Everyone has been friendly so far and the dogs have been well behaved. The park is huge with lots of trails. It feels safe to have my dog off leash which is nice. There's good coffee nearby at the Granola bar and plenty of parking.
Nov 02, 2021 · Denii RinconSo happy to have found this park for my 2 year old Giant Schnauzer. He is off leash trained but in our area it’s always “your dog has to be on a leash” sign. It’s great that this place allows nonresidents to come here! When we stumbled upon this park and saw that there was a dedicated off leash area, it was like my dog and i found heaven! My dog had a great time, met so many new friends, his tongue was hanging out of his mouth after about 20 minutes of just being in the company of other dogs. And oh yeah, The dog owners that we had the pleasure of meeting are nice as well.
