For New Yorkers, 34th & Madison by BridgeStreet offers a compelling alternative to traditional hotel stays, making it suitable for a variety of local needs. While the customer review highlights a concerning negative experience related to booking management, it’s important to focus on the inherent benefits of the serviced apartment model and the positive aspects of the location and typical offerings that make it a viable option for those residing in the city.
Firstly, the concept of a serviced apartment itself is a huge draw. If you're a local undergoing apartment renovations, experiencing a temporary housing gap, or hosting out-of-town family for an extended period, having a fully equipped apartment—complete with a kitchen and separate living areas—can be a godsend. It offers the comfort and practicality of home without the stress of setting up a temporary household. This is particularly valuable in a city like New York where space is a luxury and the cost of dining out can quickly add up. The ability to prepare your own meals and have dedicated living space can significantly enhance a temporary stay.
Secondly, the location is undeniably prime for any New Yorker. Being in Midtown East, with the subway right across the road and Fifth Avenue just around the corner, means unparalleled access to practically every corner of the city. Whether you need to commute to a different part of Manhattan for work, or you're looking to explore new neighborhoods, the connectivity is seamless. For those who frequently have business in Midtown or need to be near major transportation hubs like Penn Station, the convenience is unmatched. This centrality reduces travel time and stress, allowing you to maximize your time in the city.
Furthermore, the spaciousness of these apartments, a feature often highlighted by satisfied guests, provides a level of comfort not typically found in standard hotel rooms. For locals, this means a more relaxed and less confined experience, especially if you're staying for more than just a night or two. The opportunity to enjoy spectacular views of the city from a top-level apartment, as noted by a previous guest, can also offer a fresh perspective on the city you call home, making even a temporary stay feel like a refreshing escape.
While the provided negative review regarding a booking issue is a critical point to consider when making a reservation, it speaks more to operational management than the fundamental appeal of the property's concept and location. Assuming such issues are isolated or addressed, the core offering of spacious, well-located serviced apartments remains highly suitable for New Yorkers seeking flexible and comfortable accommodation options within their own city. It’s a chance to experience the city from a slightly different vantage point, with the comforts of home readily available.

34th & Madison by BridgeStreet Reviews
Stayed here a few times while on business in New York. I found the apartments to be clean and the location ideal with the subway across the road and 5th avenue around the corner. The service was friendly at the counter. Would recommend asking for a top level apartment. The view over NYC is spectacular.
Jul 02, 2014 · Thomas John Kenny (Tom)Worst organisation ever. So unprofessional. Almost ruined our wedding. They moved our booking to another hotel without notifying me and yet Bridgestreet still charged my credit card. Only found out when I got there and tried to check in. Don't know if the hotel I ended up staying in was an equivalent value (certainly didn't look it). Allison in customer service started off really nice and apologetic when we called to get to the bottom of what had happened and was then useless and ignored us after promising to reply regarding compensation. We were in NYC as we were eloping to avoid a stressful wedding back home in Australia....this experience was so stressful and disappointing.New York is great though and overall we had an amazing time but now we will always be reminded of this unpleasant organisation.

Jun 03, 2019 · The ThinkerGiving this hotel one star is also too much.First and foremost - because of the receptionist's service which was beyond criticism. It seemed to us that we were bothering her with our questions and it was better to leave her alone. Very unkind and unkindWe booked a room with a view on one of the higher floors and paid accordingly, but when we arrived we discovered that the room, as spacious as it was, was actually on the third floor, with no view and no sunlight. The clerk didn't bother to check if anything could be done about it and simply said: "Sorry, sir, we have tenants in the building who stay with us much longer than you and they didn't get a room on a high floor because of the occupancy", in other words - who are you to come up with such requests... Horrible!Beyond that, the hotel is expensive and does not justify the price.
