I came upon this park by accident and I was hoping for a scenic trail but it's more of a fishing park area than a park. I can see it being a mini park but it is not really well maintained as there is a small structure that would appear to have a path with rails and beneath it is a cracked, broken yet still standing concrete apparatus for water to flow through. It was relaxing however to be by water, watch two people fish and just listen to the water. - N10 Fit

For residents of New Jersey, especially those in Passaic County and the surrounding areas, Appelt Park in Riverdale presents a charming, albeit understated, outdoor destination. While it may not fit the conventional image of a sprawling park with extensive playgrounds and sports fields, Appelt Park carves out its niche as a tranquil riverside retreat, primarily catering to fishing enthusiasts and those simply seeking a peaceful moment by the water. It's a place where the gentle sounds of the Pequannock River, the quiet rustle of leaves, and the focused patience of anglers define the atmosphere.

Located at 1433-000020000-000090000-00000, Riverdale, NJ 07457, USA, Appelt Park is a testament to the diverse recreational offerings available in New Jersey. It's a small, accessible spot that prioritizes the experience of being by the water. Visitors often discover it by chance, drawn by the promise of riverside relaxation. The park's main draw is undoubtedly its connection to the Pequannock River, which is known to be stocked with trout, making it a popular spot for local anglers eager to cast a line.

Despite some observations about its maintenance and size, Appelt Park delivers on its core promise: a quiet, natural setting by the water. It's an ideal location for those who appreciate the simple pleasure of watching the river flow, observing wildlife, or engaging in the meditative act of fishing. For locals, it offers a convenient and accessible escape, a miniature sanctuary where one can decompress and connect with nature without venturing far from home. It serves as a reminder that even smaller, less flashy parks contribute significantly to the quality of life in New Jersey communities.

Accessibility to Appelt Park is quite straightforward for those traveling by car. Visitors typically find a "gravel parking lot from which you can just about see the river," providing convenient parking right at the access point. From this parking area, a "dirt path leading down to the water" indicates direct and easy access to the riverbank, making it simple for individuals, including anglers with their gear, to reach the prime spots.
