Battle Row Campground Introduce
Battle Row Campground, located at 1 Claremont Rd, Old Bethpage, NY 11804, is a truly remarkable "Scenic Spot" that offers a unique camping experience on Long Island. This campground is celebrated for its ability to provide a serene, natural environment seemingly detached from the bustling metropolitan area it inhabits. As a public campground managed by Nassau County Parks, Recreation & Museums, it serves as a crucial outdoor recreational hub for local users and visitors, combining the tranquility of nature with convenient access to a myriad of Long Island's attractions and even New York City.
The environment of Battle Row Campground is its most surprising and appealing feature. Despite its location in Old Bethpage, a developed part of Nassau County, customers consistently describe it as a "beautiful oasis." One review highlights this perfectly: "Once you go through the gate you wouldn't know you are in a large metropolitan area." This speaks to the effective design and maintenance of the campground, which creates a sense of seclusion and natural immersion. The sites themselves are described as "Spacious RV sites," suggesting ample room for campers to set up comfortably without feeling cramped. The presence of trees and green spaces likely contributes to the feeling of being in a more rural setting. The environment is conducive to enjoying the outdoors, as evidenced by the comment "Plenty of room to walk the dogs," indicating open areas suitable for leisurely strolls with pets. While specific natural features like lakes or extensive hiking trails are not detailed, the overall impression is one of a well-maintained, verdant space that provides a refreshing contrast to the surrounding urban sprawl. The air quality would typically be better than in the immediate city, offering a clearer, fresher camping atmosphere. The quietude, despite being in a metropolitan area, is a significant environmental asset for a campground, allowing campers to relax and unwind.
Battle Row Campground provides essential services that cater to the needs of campers, particularly those in RVs. A critical service highlighted by a customer is the "Dump station on the driveway out." This amenity is vital for RV users, allowing for convenient waste disposal before departing the campground. "Clean bathrooms" are another fundamental service, significantly enhancing the comfort and hygiene of the camping experience. The presence of "Nice office staff" indicates a welcoming and helpful approach to guest services, which is crucial for addressing inquiries, providing local information, and ensuring a smooth check-in and check-out process. While not explicitly detailed in the provided information, standard campground services typically include individual camping sites with amenities such as picnic tables and fire rings (though specific availability should be confirmed with the campground). Power and water hookups are usually provided for RV sites. The availability of phone numbers, (516) 572-8690 and +1 516-572-8690, allows for direct communication regarding reservations, rules, and any specific services offered. As a Nassau County Parks facility, Battle Row Campground would operate under established rules and regulations for public use, often including quiet hours and pet policies. The campground also offers goods for sale, typically basic camping supplies, firewood, and perhaps ice, though specific offerings would need to be verified on-site or by contacting the office.
The features of Battle Row Campground primarily revolve around its convenient yet secluded nature and its accessibility to major attractions. Its designation as an "oasis" within a metropolitan area is a key feature, making it highly appealing for those who want to camp without venturing too far from populated centers or who are visiting the New York City area. The "spacious RV sites" are a notable feature, ensuring comfort for larger vehicles and providing adequate space between sites. The pet-friendly aspect, evidenced by "Plenty of room to walk the dogs," is a significant feature for many campers who travel with their furry companions. Its proximity to numerous historical places is a major selling point. Customers note that it's "close to several historical places to visit, such as the Hamptons, Montauk Point Lighthouse, Fire Island Lighthouse." This makes Battle Row an excellent base camp for exploring the rich history and diverse landscapes of Long Island. Furthermore, its accessibility to New York City is a huge advantage: "About an hour from New York city" and "5-10 min drive to Long Island Railroad." This feature allows campers to enjoy the tranquility of the campground while having easy access to the world-class attractions of NYC via public transportation. The general cleanliness, including the bathrooms, and the helpfulness of the office staff contribute to a positive overall experience, making it a reliable and comfortable camping destination. The fact that it is a municipal park (Nassau County) means it likely adheres to certain standards of maintenance and public service.
Promotional information for Battle Row Campground would strongly emphasize its unique blend of urban accessibility and natural tranquility. It would be marketed as the "perfect base camp" for exploring Long Island and New York City, appealing to both local residents seeking a quick getaway and out-of-state travelers. The "oasis" aspect would be heavily promoted, showcasing how campers can enjoy a peaceful retreat without long drives to remote areas. The convenience of its location relative to major highways and public transit (Long Island Railroad) would be a key selling point. The historical attractions of Long Island (Hamptons, Montauk Point, Fire Island) would be highlighted as easy day trips from the campground. The pet-friendly nature and spacious sites would appeal to families and RV owners. Customer testimonials, such as "If we were in the area, we would camp here again," serve as powerful endorsements, indicating high satisfaction and a desire for repeat visits. The positive remarks about clean facilities and helpful staff would reassure potential campers about the quality of their stay. The campground's official phone numbers ((516) 572-8690 and +1 516-572-8690) would be prominently displayed for reservations and inquiries. Promotions might also mention any seasonal events or programs offered by Nassau County Parks that campers could enjoy. Ultimately, Battle Row Campground is positioned as a uniquely convenient and comfortable "Scenic Spot" for camping, offering the best of both worlds: a peaceful natural setting and unparalleled access to the vibrant cultural and historical offerings of the greater New York metropolitan area.

Battle Row Campground Reviews
We stayed here in May while visiting my son who lives in Brooklyn. It's a very nice campground. Once you go through the gate you wouldn't know you are in a large metropolitan area. It's close to several historical places to visit, such as the Hamptons, Montauk Point Lighthouse, Fire Island Lighthouse. If we were in the area, we would camp here again.
Sep 24, 2024 · Larry MillerBeautiful oasis! Dump station on the driveway out.Spacious RV sites. Plenty of room to walk the dogs. Clean bathrooms. Nice office staff. About an hour from New York city.5-10 min drive to Long Island Railroad.
Nov 06, 2021 · Joy MarshallOne of the nicer RV parks we have been to. It is quiet, spots are big enough for large rigs, grass area with table and charcoal grill, and a large field with playground. Friendly front office. 50 amp hook up spots. I highly recommend if you are staying in Long Island - great central location. On-site bathroom could use an update.
Aug 26, 2019 · Brittany GainesThis place is Great!!! The staff is friendly and the other RV owners are super friendly and helpful. Depending on the size of your RV is what they charge. Mine is 23feet. Showers, bathrooms etc. plus there is expansive property to go for a walk, especially with your pet What more can you ask for .
Jan 16, 2024 · Jeffrey BravuraNice campground near NYC. Expensive, though. Water and electricity, but no sewer except for a dump station. Restrooms are clean but stained and need to be replaced or updated. Sites are large and it's quiet.
