Clegg's Hotel

478 Bayberry Walk, Ocean Beach, NY 11770, USA

3.0
The price was right and it was available a week before my summer travel dates. It is across from the ferry on one side and the main drag in the village on the other side. Convenient as long as you’re there to party. If you’re early to bed (me) and want to spend most of your time on the beach (also me) it’s not great. The noise from the club across the street is outrageous. I’ve not experienced anything like that. The housekeeping staff is lovely and hard working. They give you two beach chairs (with back straps) and a beach umbrella. The nearest beach (Ocean Beach) was very restrictive as far as food or even iced coffee on the beach, so I ferried to a different beach during the days. - Bridget Harvey Team

Clegg's Hotel Introduce

Clegg's Hotel, situated at 478 Bayberry Walk, Ocean Beach, NY 11770, stands as a prominent lodging option and a true "Scenic Spot" on Fire Island. With its prime location, convenient access to the ferry, and proximity to the lively village center, Clegg's Hotel offers a unique and dynamic experience for local users and visitors seeking to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of Ocean Beach. As a designated scenic spot within the platform's category, the hotel not only provides accommodation but also serves as a gateway to the distinctive charm and natural beauty of Fire Island, renowned for its car-free environment and pristine beaches.

The environment surrounding Clegg's Hotel is characterized by its strategic positioning at the nexus of Ocean Beach's activity. One of its most significant environmental features is its direct proximity to the ferry landing. As highlighted by customer reviews, the hotel is "across from the ferry on one side and the main drag in the village on the other side." This unparalleled convenience means guests can easily arrive and depart without the need for extensive travel on the island, as Fire Island is famously car-free. The "main drag in the village" refers to Bay Walk, the bustling central promenade of Ocean Beach, which is lined with restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues. While this central location offers immense convenience, it also means that the hotel is in the heart of the village's lively nightlife. This can lead to noise from nearby establishments, particularly for guests who prefer an "early to bed" schedule, as noted in a customer review. However, for those "there to party" and seeking a vibrant atmosphere, this central location is an undeniable advantage. Despite the village activity, the hotel is still within easy reach of the natural beauty of Fire Island. The Atlantic Ocean beach is a short walk away, offering the serene environment of crashing waves and expansive sands. The Great South Bay, on the other side of the island, provides calmer waters and picturesque sunset views, both accessible from the hotel's central location.

Clegg's Hotel offers a range of services designed to enhance the guest experience, particularly for those looking to enjoy the unique Fire Island lifestyle. A standout service, as repeatedly praised by guests, is the provision of essential beach amenities: "They give you two beach chairs (with back straps) and a beach umbrella." This thoughtful inclusion saves guests the hassle of bringing their own or renting them, making a day at the beach more convenient and enjoyable. Furthermore, the hotel offers "bikes to be used to cruise the Island," which is an invaluable service given Fire Island's car-free nature. Biking is a primary mode of transportation and exploration, allowing guests to effortlessly discover other parts of Ocean Beach and potentially nearby communities. The hotel also focuses on providing a welcoming atmosphere and a comfortable start to the day. Guests appreciate the "Fresh fruits at the door for the picking, refreshing lemon water throughout the day and freshly brewed coffe for the morning to start the day." This attention to detail and hospitality contributes significantly to a positive guest experience. The mention of "Housekeeping staff is lovely and hard working" indicates a commitment to cleanliness and guest comfort. While not explicitly stated as a service, the accessibility of a phone number ((631) 583-9292 or +1 631-583-9292) allows for direct inquiries and bookings, ensuring efficient communication with the hotel.

The features of Clegg's Hotel underscore its appeal as a charming and functional "Scenic Spot" lodging. The rooms and bathrooms are described as "clean and private," which are fundamental aspects of a comfortable stay. The "Relaxing wrap around front porch to people watch" is a quintessential Fire Island feature, offering a delightful vantage point to observe the lively village activity or simply enjoy the sea breeze. This communal space fosters a sense of relaxation and engagement with the island's unique ambiance. The hotel's management and staff are consistently highlighted as a key feature, with guests praising "Staff, Tyler and family plus Dakota were lovely Hosts. Helpful, understanding and super accommodating group. ... We were welcomed as though we were visting family and they enabled our family to be all together and experience a Fabulous Father's day weekend. Our sincere thanks again." This emphasis on personal, family-style hospitality creates a warm and inviting environment that resonates deeply with guests. While the hotel's central location can be lively, its amenities are geared towards enhancing a beach vacation. The availability of beach chairs and umbrellas directly addresses the needs of beach-goers, while bikes offer a convenient way to explore the island's scenic beauty beyond the immediate vicinity of the village. The fresh fruit, lemon water, and coffee in the mornings add a touch of home and thoughtful service, making the stay more enjoyable and hassle-free.

Promotional information for Clegg's Hotel often leverages its undeniable location advantage and its reputation for warm hospitality. The direct access to the ferry and the heart of Ocean Beach's dining and entertainment scene is a major selling point, especially for those who want to be in the midst of the island's social pulse. The competitive pricing, as noted by a customer, also makes it an attractive option for those seeking a value-oriented stay on Fire Island. The positive reviews highlighting the "perfect location!" and "perfect stay!" serve as strong endorsements, emphasizing the hotel's ability to deliver a memorable experience. The availability of complimentary beach chairs, umbrellas, and bikes is a significant draw, underscoring the hotel's commitment to facilitating a classic Fire Island vacation. For local users, Clegg's Hotel offers a convenient and lively base for exploring Ocean Beach and beyond. While some guests might find the nightlife noise a consideration, particularly if they prioritize quiet above all else, the hotel clearly caters to those who embrace the vibrant energy of a Fire Island summer. The consistent praise for the staff's accommodating and friendly nature reinforces the hotel's image as a welcoming, family-run establishment. This blend of prime location, practical amenities, and genuine hospitality positions Clegg's Hotel as a highly recommended "Scenic Spot" for anyone looking to experience the dynamic and unique charm of Fire Island.
