I have been bringing my kids to this park for years then in 15 in the park has not been updated or fixed up along with the basketball court!! They got a grant and never fix the playground or the basketball court the pavement going through the park is cracked holes damage, playground holes, everywhere children falling getting hurt nowhere for anyone to sit they took those benches years ago they cut down all the trees last year, but they did upgrade the pool but did not fix the cement around the pool. Still not safe. Summertime staff is excellent!! They are always coming out of their pocket for the community to make sure everyone is having fun children come to this park all the time staff feeds them, gives them water and snacks and juice, and that comes out of your pocket !They don’t get their credit when it’s due I see central park, and Metcalf got a total upgrade, but not Colgate! Everyone needs to step up in the community and speak up!! - anya Gibbs

This location in Essex County makes it highly accessible for residents of Orange and neighboring communities. The City of Orange benefits from excellent transportation links within New Jersey, including easy access to major highways such as I-280, I-78, and the Garden State Parkway. Furthermore, public transportation is a viable option for many, with NJ Transit’s Morris & Essex Line serving Orange Station, which is typically within a reasonable walking distance or a short bus ride from the park.

The urban setting of Colgate Park means it's deeply integrated into the daily lives of local residents. Its central location makes it easy for children and families to walk or bike to the park, fostering a strong sense of community ownership and regular use.
