Darlington County Park is conveniently located at 600 Darlington Ave, Mahwah, NJ 07430, USA. This address places it squarely in northern New Jersey, specifically within Mahwah, Bergen County. Its strategic location makes it highly accessible for a vast number of New Jersey residents, particularly those in Bergen, Passaic, and Morris counties, as well as parts of the greater New York metropolitan area. The park sits at the foothills of the scenic Ramapo Mountains, providing a beautiful natural backdrop to all its recreational offerings.
Accessing Darlington County Park by car is straightforward, with easy connections from major highways like Route 17 and State Route 287. Visitors will find ample parking available within the park. It is important to note that during the swimming season (typically from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend), there is a daily vehicle entrance fee upon arrival. This fee structure varies based on residency (Bergen County vs. out-of-county) and day of the week (weekday vs. weekend/holiday). For instance, a Bergen County adult might pay $10 on a weekday and $12 on a weekend, while out-of-county adults pay $15 on weekdays and $20 on weekends. Children aged 5-17 have a flat fee, and seniors (62 and up) receive discounted rates. Cash and all major credit cards are accepted for both general admission and Splash Zone sessions.
While the park is primarily accessed by car due to its size and amenities, its location in Mahwah means it is integrated into a network of local roads. Given its popularity, especially on weekends, it is highly recommended to arrive early to secure parking, as the park can reach capacity and close to new entrants. This convenient location, combined with plenty of parking, makes Darlington County Park a highly accessible and sought-after destination for a day of fun in the sun for New Jersey locals.

As a Bergen County Park, Darlington County Park's "promotions" and "special offers" are structured around its public access and fee system, rather than traditional commercial discounts. However, there are inherent values and options that act as ongoing benefits for New Jersey residents, especially those in Bergen County.
The most significant "offer" is the tiered pricing structure for admission. Bergen County residents receive a reduced entrance fee compared to out-of-county visitors, effectively providing a "discount" for local taxpayers. For example, a Bergen County adult pays $10 on weekdays ($12 weekends), while an out-of-county adult pays $15 ($20 weekends). This is a direct financial incentive for local families to enjoy their county park. Bergen County seniors (62 and up) receive an even greater discount, paying only $3, regardless of the day.
While there isn't a widely publicized annual pass for Darlington County Park specifically, frequent visitors might consider exploring the possibility of a general Bergen County Parks Pass or a registration card (as mentioned in some older resources) that could offer further benefits or streamlined entry, though direct information on such a pass should be verified with the Bergen County Parks Department.
The Splash Zone operates on an additional fee per session (e.g., $15 for Bergen County residents for a regular session, $7 for kiddie sessions). While this is an added cost, it's a premium attraction that adds significant value to the park experience, offering a unique water obstacle course not commonly found in public parks. The availability of grilling areas, while requiring patrons to bring their own charcoal, also promotes cost-effective family outings compared to dining out.
It is crucial for visitors to check the official Bergen County Parks website for Darlington County Park for the most up-to-date information on fees, hours, and any operational changes, especially as weekend entry can be difficult due to capacity limits. While you won't find fleeting sales, the continuous provision of a high-quality, amenity-rich park at a resident-friendly price point serves as its most compelling and enduring "special offer" to the New Jersey community.

Darlington County Park Reviews
You can go without membership. Grilling is allowed, and the mini sandy beach and a place for kids to swim are nice. The splash zone is also really fun. The sessions are about an hour long. It's hard to get in on weekends.
Mar 11, 2025 · Victoria leeGreat place to barbecue fish and swim. Plenty of parking
May 22, 2025 · robert rubinThe park itself is nice and there are 2 swimming areas to cool off during summer. Paid entry ($10 in county/$15 out of county) and splash zone is an extra $10 per session. Very crowded in summer, must come near 10 am or it will reach capacity and you will be turned away. The Upper swim lake is where the splash zone is but no one is allowed to touch the water at all unless it's their session. It's a more quiet area than the lower lake because you can't go in the water as a beach goer. The splash zone is worth the price and an hour session is just enough time to enjoy the obstacles. The Lower swim lake is where swimming is allowed, and there is a shallow section and a deep section which helps disperse the crowd.I would rate the park 3.5 overall but rounded down for the absolutely awful bathrooms. So gross and just not maintained. Also, we tried coming at 12 pm on another day and got turned away - that's how we learned you really have to come by 10 am so takes some pre-planning.
Aug 27, 2024 · Laurel ClareThis place has a lot of potential, so it is unfortunate that it is maintained so badly.Restrooms are so disgusting. The floaties area needs a different ticket, and If you don't get there around ten or before, there is no way to get in.To be in the main area, which has a deep part, kids need to pass a though swim test equal to 2 laps of free style in a pool without stopping. Most of the kids below 11 years old didn't pass. This leaves the lower level area so crowded. Also, so many people barbecue, so there is a constant smoke.
Aug 28, 2024 · Anat DekelFirst things first, I DO NOT RECOMMEND coming to this place on a major holiday like Independence Day. Some people here were crazy. Some were fighting over parking while others were saving parking Spots for friends which IS NOT allowed according to the park officials riding around in karts. It even came to the point where one lady photographed and video'd another person's license plate since there were some issues between them. Some Positive Things I noticed were:* The Water in the Lagoons was amazing, it looked crystal clear.*The Main Lagoon is pretty big.*There's a lot of shade and breeze.*There's various parking areas*They Sell Food/Drinks/Snacks.Negative Things I noticed:* I don't know if it's because it's a holiday and the whole place was crowded with people, but most staff running the park weren't very generous, which is understandable from my part because it was a mess, I sure hope however they're not usually in a bad mood with people.* I didn't quite like how you had to pay for Life Jackets for little kids. I mean the admission and swimming fee is already a bit expensive for the average family. It was $10 per Adult and $6 per Child.Overall, I would definitely recommend visiting but with good preparation and good planning.
