East Rumbrook Park Pickleball Courts Introduce
East Rumbrook Park Pickleball Courts, located at 600 Dobbs Ferry Rd, White Plains, NY 10607, USA, offers a dedicated space for the increasingly popular sport of pickleball. As a key amenity within the broader East Rumbrook Park, managed by Greenburgh Parks & Recreation, these courts are part of a larger scenic spot designed for active recreation and community enjoyment. The park's contact number is (914) 989-1806 or +1 914-989-1806.
The facility boasts four dedicated pickleball courts, providing ample opportunity for players of all skill levels to engage in the game. It's important for prospective users to be aware of the unique court surface. While not the traditional solid hardcourt type, the courts are constructed from metal planks. This provides a playable surface, though some users have noted that the way the planks are put together can result in small gaps between them, producing a distinct sound during play. Despite this unique construction, the courts are well-maintained and fully functional for an enjoyable pickleball experience. This adaptive use of materials demonstrates the park's commitment to providing facilities for this rapidly growing sport, which combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong.
Beyond the pickleball courts, East Rumbrook Park is a comprehensive recreational area within the Town of Greenburgh. The environment of the park is generally considered pleasant and inviting, offering a natural setting for outdoor activities. The park spans approximately 47.8 acres and was originally developed in the 1970s as an athletic complex and park preserve. It is situated conveniently near the Sprain Brook Parkway, making it easily accessible for local residents. The park's environment encourages a peaceful and refreshing experience, providing a green oasis amidst urban and suburban landscapes.
In terms of services and features, East Rumbrook Park offers a variety of amenities that complement the pickleball courts, making it a versatile destination for recreation. The park includes other sports facilities such as two lighted tennis courts, four lighted platform tennis courts, and newly renovated basketball courts, which are known as a "Mecca for outdoor basketball in Westchester." This diverse offering means that visitors to East Rumbrook Park can engage in multiple forms of racquet and ball sports. For those seeking more passive recreation or opportunities for their pets, the park also features a dog park with a one-acre fenced-in space, complete with a water fountain, waste receptacle, and bag dispenser, along with a special area for smaller dogs. Adjacent to the dog park, there are also wooded trails where leashed dogs can be walked, providing opportunities for nature exploration and exercise. The park also includes baseball/softball fields, a warming hut near the platform tennis courts, and nature trails, making it suitable for a wide range of interests and activities.
The facilities within the park are generally reported to be clean and well-maintained, contributing to a positive user experience. Restrooms are available, ensuring convenience for visitors spending extended periods at the park. The park's emphasis on cleanliness and upkeep is a significant factor in its appeal to local users. The Greenburgh Parks and Recreation Department oversees the park, and their commitment to providing quality recreational spaces is evident in the ongoing improvements and maintenance.
For those interested in organized play or access, the Town of Greenburgh has been proactive in promoting pickleball. They transitioned their Resident Seasonal Tennis memberships to a Resident Seasonal Racquet/Paddle Membership, allowing residents to play tennis, platform tennis, and pickleball at both East Rumbrook Park and Anthony F. Veteran Park. Membership rates are available for families, adults, seniors, and youth. For non-members or those seeking a one-time visit, daily rates apply for residents at A.F. Veteran Park, and while specific daily rates for East Rumbrook Pickleball courts aren't explicitly detailed as separate from the general park access, the inclusive membership suggests broader access. The Greenburgh Parks department actively seeks feedback from pickleball enthusiasts to further enhance their programs and facilities, demonstrating a user-centric approach.
Promotional information indicates that Greenburgh Parks and Recreation has been at the forefront of developing pickleball in Westchester County. They initiated a program at East Rumbrook Park, which has seen growing participation. This highlights the park as a key location for the sport in the region. The addition of these four dedicated pickleball courts, which were part of a capital budget project completed in spring 2023, signifies a significant investment in meeting the demand for this sport. The project also included other site improvements such as a new asphalt path/roadway, resurfacing of basketball courts, grading and drainage improvements, new fencing, and landscaping, all contributing to an enhanced park experience.
In summary, East Rumbrook Park Pickleball Courts offer a valuable recreational resource for the local community. Despite the unique metal plank surface, the four dedicated courts are fully playable and part of a larger, well-equipped park. With clean facilities, diverse recreational offerings including tennis, basketball, and a dog park, and a commitment from the Greenburgh Parks & Recreation Department to foster the growth of pickleball, it serves as a central hub for outdoor activities in White Plains. Its accessibility and comprehensive amenities make it an attractive destination for individuals and families looking to enjoy sports and nature.

East Rumbrook Park Pickleball Courts Reviews
It's got 4 dedicated pickleball courts. However the ground are not the solid hardcoirt type but instead thry are made of metal planks. But it's playable. The con with that is the way it's put together, there are gaps in between each plank and it makes a weird sound. Other than that, the park has all the facilities and they are clean.
