Updaye July 2024:There is activity on the playing field. I confirmed with the city that you need a permit for access as it is fully fenced and normally kept locked. I think they have soccer and Gaelic football teams.Update Jan 2024:You can now drive into the park and use the parking lot by the county rail trail. You can use the picnic grounds (Pavilion & grills); however, a permit is required. The adjacent bathrooms are NOT normally open but they will open them with the permit. They are doing some construction inside the grass field area - which is currently closed to the public. I believe they may be putting in the playing field lighting.Status as of July 2023:Redmond field is still under renovation and not yet open to the public. There will no longer be softball fields. I believe they will have a Celtic football field enclosed by fencing and Stadium type lighting. You must have a city permit to play on those fields. I believe the other areas of the park will be open to the public once the field is finished. There is a renovated, Pavilion picnic area with grills for use by permit only. There are also new bathrooms; however, these are not generally left open unless the field or picnic area is rented. The two pictures posted were from a city meeting and are the artist rendering of the plan. - Leland Cerra

H F Redmond Junior Memorial Park Introduce

H.F. Redmond Junior Memorial Park, situated on Cook Ave in Yonkers, NY 10701, USA, is a dynamically evolving scenic spot that serves as a vital recreational hub for the local community. This park has undergone significant renovations and continues to see improvements, transforming it into a modern facility primarily focused on organized sports and community gatherings. As a scenic spot, its "services" and "goods" revolve around providing high-quality athletic fields, a well-equipped picnic area, and seamless integration with broader recreational infrastructure like the county rail trail.

The environment of H.F. Redmond Junior Memorial Park is in a state of ongoing enhancement, promising a premier experience for its users. As of recent updates in July 2024, there is confirmed "activity on the playing field," indicating its active use. The playing field area is fully fenced and typically kept locked, signifying a controlled and well-maintained environment. This dedicated playing surface, designed for sports such as soccer and Gaelic football, suggests a manicured and specialized turf, likely with good drainage and robust construction to withstand regular athletic use. Updates from January 2024 confirm that visitors "can now drive into the park and use the parking lot by the county rail trail," significantly improving accessibility. The presence of a "renovated Pavilion picnic area with grills" indicates a well-equipped space for outdoor gatherings, designed for comfort and convenience. While construction has been ongoing within the grass field area, including the potential installation of "playing field lighting," the overall direction is towards a modern, well-lit, and highly functional environment. The artist renderings seen in July 2023 suggest a vision of stadium-type lighting and a high-quality enclosed field. The park's adjacency to the county rail trail also places it within a broader natural corridor, offering opportunities for extended walks or bike rides, even if the primary focus within the park itself is structured recreation. The commitment to maintaining a secure and purposeful environment is evident in the access control measures.

As a scenic spot, H.F. Redmond Junior Memorial Park primarily offers services and facilities geared towards organized sports and pre-booked community events. The main "goods" or services available are access to its state-of-the-art playing fields. These fields, no longer designated for softball, are specifically designed for "Celtic football field" and general soccer use, requiring a city permit for access and play. This permit-based system ensures controlled usage, optimal field conditions, and equitable access for various teams and leagues. Beyond the playing fields, the park provides a renovated "Pavilion picnic area with grills," which is available for use by permit only. This service caters to family gatherings, corporate outings, and community events, offering a dedicated space with essential amenities for outdoor dining and celebration. The adjacent bathrooms are a crucial service, though they are "NOT normally open" unless the field or picnic area is rented, emphasizing the park's focus on structured activities. The presence of a parking lot is another key service, making the park easily accessible for visitors driving to the location, especially those connecting to the county rail trail. The underlying service provided by the City of Yonkers Parks Department is the meticulous upkeep and controlled management of these premium facilities, ensuring a high-quality experience for permitted users.

The features of H.F. Redmond Junior Memorial Park are largely defined by its recent and ongoing modernization. A prominent feature is the completely "all new pavilion," which "looks great" and was anticipated to open before Memorial Day 2019, signifying a commitment to modern and appealing recreational infrastructure. The transformation from softball fields to a "Celtic football field enclosed by fencing and Stadium type lighting" highlights a strategic upgrade to accommodate specific and growing sports demands. The fully fenced playing field and locked access points are features that emphasize control, security, and the preservation of the playing surface. The new bathrooms, while requiring a permit for access, are a welcome amenity, providing essential facilities for permitted events. The direct access to the "county rail trail" from the park's parking lot is a significant feature, connecting the park to a wider network of pedestrian and cycling paths, thus extending its recreational utility beyond its boundaries. The ongoing "construction inside the grass field area" likely includes advanced drainage systems or specialized turf installations, further enhancing the quality of the playing surfaces. While the review from July 2023 noted the playing field was "still under renovation and not yet open to the public," subsequent updates confirm activity and accessibility for permitted use, indicating progress towards a fully operational and high-quality facility. The focus on stadium-type lighting also suggests the park is designed to host evening games and events, maximizing its utility.

Promotional information for H.F. Redmond Junior Memorial Park, though not explicitly provided in the form of marketing collateral, can be inferred from the customer reviews and the nature of the park's services. The emphasis on the "permit" system for both the playing fields and the picnic pavilion strongly suggests that the park is promoted to sports leagues, community groups, and individuals looking to host private events. Information regarding permits would typically be available through the City of Yonkers Parks Department, likely via their website or direct inquiry. The "Update July 2024" confirming activity on the playing field is a form of ongoing promotion, letting the public know the facilities are in use. The explicit mention of "soccer and Gaelic football teams" indicates a targeted promotion to these specific sports communities. The fact that the park is adjacent to the county rail trail can be a promotional highlight for users interested in combining organized sports or picnics with longer walks or bike rides. The visual appeal of the "all new pavilion" and the anticipation of its opening (as per the 2019 review) serves as a positive draw. The park's continuous upgrades, from field renovations to new lighting, reinforce its image as a modern and well-invested-in recreational asset, appealing to those seeking high-quality sports and gathering venues in Yonkers. The phone numbers provided, (212) 639-9675 and +1 212-639-9675, would likely be for the NYC Parks Department in general, suggesting inquiries about Yonkers parks may need to be directed to the City of Yonkers Parks and Recreation Department for specific permit and park information.
