Situated within a "Scenic Spot" platform category, the hotel positions itself as a base for exploring the local environment and accessing nearby attractions, while also providing fundamental services and goods for its guests.
Upon arrival, guests will find the hotel's location to be a significant advantage. Its proximity allows for convenient access to various points of interest in Yonkers and provides a strategic starting point for excursions into Manhattan, making it an appealing choice for those planning a blend of local exploration and city adventures. The hotel's phone number is (914) 476-3800 or +1 914-476-3800 for direct inquiries and reservations.
The overall environment of Hilltop Inn & Suites presents a complex picture. While the external surroundings and location are often highlighted positively, the interior of the hotel, particularly the guest rooms, appears to be in a transitional phase. Guests have noted that the lobby area is generally well-maintained and cared for, offering a welcoming first impression. The continental breakfast area is described as charming, providing a pleasant space to start the day with a complimentary meal. There is also an outdoor pool on the premises, which, while not always open year-round, is an anticipated amenity during warmer months, adding a recreational element to the hotel's offerings.
However, it is important for prospective guests to be aware of the current state of the individual rooms. Recent feedback indicates that the guest rooms are in significant need of renovation and updating. While some rooms may offer nice tree views, moving beyond the views, concerns have been raised regarding the cleanliness and overall condition. Specific mentions include visible dirt, dust, and even the presence of insects. Surfaces within the rooms, such as headboards, have been described as having old, unidentifiable stains and minor graffiti. Bathroom conditions can vary, with some showing signs of extensive wear and tear, such as cigarette burns on counters, while others might feature slightly newer fixtures but could still present issues like non-working showers or cleanliness oversights, such as residual hair from previous guests. Hallway carpets have also been noted for being worn, contributing to a sense of the hotel being in a state of ongoing or delayed refurbishment.
Despite the challenges concerning room appearance, the services offered by Hilltop Inn & Suites are frequently praised. The staff members are consistently described as very friendly, nice, and ready to assist guests. From the front desk to housekeeping, the employees are noted for their helpful and accommodating demeanor, striving to ensure a comfortable stay for guests. This positive interaction with the staff stands out as a strong point of the hotel's service. Housekeeping staff, while friendly, have been suggested by some guests to require further training on proper room cleaning protocols to address the reported cleanliness issues more effectively.
Features of the rooms, despite their condition, include practical amenities that enhance a guest's stay. Each room is equipped with a working microwave and a mini-fridge, providing convenience for storing and preparing food. A cup-sized coffee maker is also available, along with complimentary coffee, though some minor items like a coffee tray might occasionally be missing but are likely available upon request. The beds are generally reported as comfortable, allowing guests to get a good night's sleep. While there might be minor inconveniences, such as a broken ice machine on a particular floor necessitating a trip to another floor, the essential amenities for a basic stay are present. The towels, though some may be worn, are typically clean, relatively soft, and adequately sized.
In terms of promotional information and the hotel's current trajectory, Hilltop Inn & Suites appears to be undergoing a transition. Having previously operated as a Ramada, the current management under Hilltop Inn & Suites seems to be in the process of, or considering, significant renovations. There's a clear indication that investment in room fixes and upgrades is desperately needed to bring the hotel up to par with contemporary expectations. The potential of the hotel, given its excellent location, is often highlighted. The sentiment among some past guests is that while the hotel currently falls short in certain areas, particularly room aesthetics and cleanliness, it has significant untapped potential. It is suggested that if and when comprehensive renovations are completed, the hotel could become a much more appealing option. Therefore, prospective guests are advised to monitor updated reviews and ratings to gauge improvements before booking, especially if room appearance is a high priority.
For budget-conscious travelers or those primarily seeking a well-located base for exploring the Yonkers area and commuting to Manhattan, Hilltop Inn & Suites can serve its purpose. The friendly staff and essential in-room amenities like microwaves and mini-fridges offer practical benefits. However, guests should manage their expectations regarding the current aesthetic and cleanliness of the guest rooms, as significant remodeling appears to be a crucial step for the hotel's future success and improved guest satisfaction. The hotel's convenient location for meeting others and sharing rides for an evening out in Manhattan remains a key draw.

Hilltop Inn & Suites (Prev. RAMADA) Reviews
Where do I start? This place has a great location, I stayed there when it was Ramada, and I said it is not a 5 star hotel, but the price is good. But THE ROOMS WERE NEVER looked like the way they look now under Hilltop Inn. I checked for 2 nights but left after one night. By the way, they couldn't find my reservation witch I made since January this year. But the staff gave me a room anyway. The ONLY reason I slept there one night is because I traveled 3 hrs and needed a place to crash. Also called other hotels and they were wayyyy more expensive. This place needs EMERGENCY remodeling. I didn't even wanted to use the ice machine witch in my floor was broken I had to go to another floor, I passed a floor that they were doing some remodeling but come on, closed the whole place, remodel, THEEEENNN open. My room was soooo dirty, dead roaches on the wall, dust, oh God. I had to go to the store and get Lysol wipes and Lysol spray to disinfect the whole room. It was definitely NOT WORTH ME, SPENDING ANOTHER night for over a hundred dollars. The staff are really nice, house keeping are friendly BUT they need a meeting or something to go over how to properly clean a room. Overall, they're probably mean well, but whoever is in charge needs help on how to manage a hotel. I'm never going back until the place is fixed from top to bottom.
May 10, 2025 · Jo JoThis is a complicated place to review. I really think this hotel has so much untapped potential. But for now, it's not up to par. I asked an employee for a bit of history. This location has apparently changed hands often. Perhaps the current owners will be the ones to invest in desperately needed room fixes and upgrades. The only actual lack of cleanliness was in my sister's room, where she found hair still in a non-working shower. The diverter was apparently stuck. But regardless, hair from the prior guests should just not be happening at a Ramada.Other than that, the spacious rooms with nice tree views, rather than Yonkers roadways, just seemed unclean. They are really desperately in need of some TLC. The headboards had old unidentifiable stains and minor graffiti that you would think a Ramada would immediately repair in some manner. The hallway carpets were worn as were some of the towels. The towels were, however, clean, relatively soft and the bath towels were large. The closet had a few small hooks but no hanging bar or hangers. It's a shame because it could really be a charming room. The bathroom surfaces looked to have years of cigarettes burns in my room. My sister's bathroom had nicer counters, but then she had the shower issue. On the bright side, the lobby is well cared for, the continental breakfast area was charming, every staff member was very friendly and ready to assist during our brief overnight stay. The beds were comfortable. I slept well. There is an outdoor pool that was not yet open, but is supposed to be opening soon. Each of our rooms had a working microwave, mini fridge, and cup sized coffee maker. The one in my room was missing the little tray to hold the complimentary coffee, but I'm certain they could have given me one with a tray if I had made the request. This is a great location to meet with others and then share a ride for an evening out in Manhattan. But, before lots of people try it out, the owners really must invest in the appearance of the individual rooms. Most people are not going to take a closer look if their room feels "used".Still, I think this is a Ramada to check back on. If the ratings start to go up, the location is great.
May 29, 2022 · Linda L.ABSOLUTELY disgusting. Got off the elevator and the hallway carpet was the filthiest I’ve ever seen in my life. It didn’t seem like it had ever been vacuumed or cleaned. They advertise this hotel as 100% smoke-free but clearly that doesn’t include marijuana. I was getting high off the fumes in the hallway. Still hoping that the room might be better since we paid like $140 for this dump, I go in the room and it’s even worse! The ceiling paint is chipping off. The wallpaper is peeling off. The furniture is supposed to be a cream colored but it’s really dirty. I could not even sit down on the chair. We left immediately. We were told we could get a refund but we’re still trying to get that money back. This place isn’t even good enough for a short stay. I don’t know how this place is still open. Stayed at another hotel nearby…Courtyard…a MILLION times better AND cheaper !!
Feb 08, 2022 · Ms NYCThis hotel was remodeling when we stayed and the noise in the morning was impossible. We requested to move to another room with less noise. This hotel is very old, there were holes on the doors, the walls, the cabinets. The beds were confortable but the small pillows were not. There was a strong pot smell on the hallways. The location was convenient because we have family in Yonkers and definitely we are not coming back to this place. The free breakfast included was basic with bagels, coffee, and apples, the orange juice machine was only water. Do not recommend this place.
Oct 02, 2022 · V RosasThis place was pretty below average. The room smelled of old wet rug, cigarette smoke, and urine. Had to air out the room (open window, AC on high, Bathroom active vent on, and front door open) for a while, to get it livable. Now this is not expected to be a 5star hotel, however our room was in disrepair and pretty beat up. The fixtures had a film of dirt and grease on them, the wallpaper was peeling all over the room, the furniture looked like they got it out of a dumperster. The closet had no hangers in it. And worst of all, the smoke detector was non-operational. We made the best of it, as we were only going to stay the night (a baby stay-cation).I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone for any reason.
