Hylan Inn Introduce
For residents of New York, particularly those on Staten Island, finding convenient local accommodation can be a practical necessity. Whether you’re hosting out-of-town guests, need a temporary place during home renovations, or are simply looking for a short-term stay within the borough, local hotels offer a convenient solution. Hylan Inn, situated on the prominent Hylan Boulevard, presents itself as one such option for those seeking lodging in Staten Island. It's important for New Yorkers to understand the diverse range of accommodation choices available in their own backyard, and what each place offers.
The decision of where to stay, even for a local purpose, involves considering location, amenities, and overall experience. While some might seek luxury, others prioritize practicality and accessibility. Hylan Inn aims to provide basic lodging services. This article will guide local New Yorkers through the details of Hylan Inn, covering its location, generally expected services, and aspects to consider for those contemplating a stay. We aim to present factual information to help you make an informed decision from a local perspective.
For those relying on public transportation, Hylan Boulevard is well-served by multiple local bus routes. These bus lines connect to various neighborhoods across Staten Island, and many also provide transfers to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal, offering a free and scenic route to Manhattan. This makes the Hylan Inn potentially accessible for New Yorkers from other boroughs looking for a Staten Island base, or for Staten Islanders without private vehicles. If you're driving, the location on Hylan Boulevard means direct access to a major roadway, facilitating travel to other parts of Staten Island, including its parks, beaches, and commercial centers. While the direct surroundings of Hylan Inn are commercial, the broader area offers access to local dining, shopping, and essential services. Its main road location ensures high visibility and ease of navigation for both those familiar with the island and new visitors. For a local New Yorker, the convenience of a hotel directly on Hylan Boulevard simplifies logistics, whether for personal needs or accommodating guests.
Private Rooms: Accommodation in individual guest rooms with private bathrooms, ensuring personal space for guests.
Bedding and Linens: Provision of bed sheets, pillows, and towels for guest use.
Climate Control: Rooms would typically be equipped with heating and air conditioning to ensure comfort regardless of the season.
Television: Entertainment options usually include a television in each room.
Basic Furnishings: Rooms would contain essential furniture such as a bed, nightstands, and a wardrobe or hanging space.
Housekeeping: Basic cleaning services for rooms, though frequency can vary based on length of stay.
Front Desk Service: A reception area or front desk to assist guests with check-in/check-out, inquiries, and potentially local information.
It is worth noting that guest experiences can vary. Some reviews mention strong cleanser smells and concerns regarding bedding, which might suggest a focus on functional cleanliness. It's always advisable for potential guests to consider their priorities regarding amenities and comfort levels when evaluating basic lodging options.
Prime Hylan Boulevard Location: Its position on a major Staten Island artery offers significant accessibility, making it easy to navigate to local attractions, dining, and transportation hubs.
Practical Accommodation: The inn aims to provide straightforward, no-frills lodging for short-term stays, prioritizing basic needs over extensive luxury amenities.
Accessibility for Local Commutes: For New Yorkers using public transit, the bus routes on Hylan Boulevard offer connections to the Staten Island Ferry, providing a convenient link to Manhattan.
Potential for Affordability: Motels and inns often present a more budget-friendly alternative to full-service hotels, which can be a key consideration for cost-conscious travelers or locals needing a temporary place.
However, it is crucial to also acknowledge feedback that can be found in public reviews. Some past guests have reported experiences of a "depressing" room atmosphere, a "strong smell of cleanser" that was disruptive, and concerns about "bed bug bags" on mattresses and pillows, which caused "not a good feeling." These are significant points that potential guests, particularly locals, should be aware of and factor into their decision-making process. The pricing of $155 a night was also noted as a concern by one reviewer given their experience. It is important for potential guests to set appropriate expectations for a stay at this type of establishment.
Weekday vs. Weekend Rates: Prices might vary, with weekdays sometimes being more affordable.
Seasonal Pricing: Rates can fluctuate during peak tourist seasons or local events.
Direct Booking Incentives: Sometimes, booking directly with the hotel rather than through third-party sites can offer exclusive rates or more flexible terms.
Extended Stay Discounts: For guests planning to stay for several nights, there might be reduced rates for longer bookings, although this should be confirmed with the inn.
The most reliable way to inquire about any current deals or special offers is to call the Hylan Inn directly using the provided contact information.

Calling the inn directly will allow you to get the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding their services and any specific concerns you might have after reviewing public feedback.
While public reviews indicate concerns regarding the cleanliness and overall atmosphere, which are crucial considerations, the inn's primary role appears to be that of a functional and accessible short-term stay. For locals whose main priority is a convenient base in a high-traffic area of Staten Island, and who have adjusted expectations based on available feedback, Hylan Inn provides a practical, if no-frills, solution. It's a reminder that not all lodging serves the same purpose, and understanding its specific offerings, alongside public sentiment, is key for an informed local decision.

Hylan Inn Reviews
The room was incredibly depressing. The strong smell of cleanser kept me awake for hours as I tossed and turned on the poly sheets. Utterly creepy. One of the worst nights of my life. $155 a night!!🤮RUN.
May 17, 2025 · Cate MarvinRooms were depressing and the mattresses and pillows were covered in bed bug bags, not a good feeling
Mar 15, 2025 · EddiemoNice, clean, cheap, and quiet. They also do short stays
Feb 19, 2025 · Kmya RispersFor the couple of hours I stayed for rest and personal, it was clean ,cozy, big TV, good channels, shower bathtub, could use a modern shower head, the one they have serves its purpose. I enjoyed the stay. Ice available, good service. The attendant was very polite. Thank you.
Mar 05, 2024 · Angel PadillaI definately would bot recommend anyone to stay here at this hell hole. The manager is nasty and rude and the rooms have bed bugs. Don't waste your money for a dirty bed bug house
