Ocean Breeze Park Introduce
For New Yorkers, especially those on Staten Island, Ocean Breeze Park offers a truly expansive and multifaceted outdoor experience, anchored by the state-of-the-art Ocean Breeze Track and Field Athletic Complex. This sprawling 136-acre green space is far more than just a park; it's a premier destination for elite-level athletics, casual fitness, and immersion in a unique natural environment. Whether you're a seasoned runner, a family looking for open spaces to explore, or someone seeking top-tier indoor recreational facilities, Ocean Breeze Park provides an unparalleled opportunity to stay active and connect with nature right here in the borough. As one local reviewer enthused, it's "absolutely love coming here to work out, it’s very spacious. They have all different types of rooms with different equipment." This sentiment captures the essence of what makes Ocean Breeze Park a local gem.
Ocean Breeze Park is prominently located at Mason Avenue & Quintard St, Staten Island, NY 10305, USA. The broader Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, which is a major component of the park, has its main entrance at 625 Father Capodanno Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10305. This strategic location in the Ocean Breeze neighborhood places it conveniently close to Midland Beach and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk, offering beautiful views and a coastal ambiance.
Accessibility to Ocean Breeze Park is excellent, making it a viable option for New Yorkers from across the city.
- By Car: The park is easily accessible via Father Capodanno Boulevard, a major thoroughfare on Staten Island. There is ample parking available at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, which services the entire park area.
- By Public Transportation: Multiple MTA bus lines serve the area, with stops just a few minutes' walk from the park and the Athletic Complex. Bus routes like the S51, S52, S53, S81, and various express buses (SIM5, SIM6, SIM9) connect the park to other parts of Staten Island, including the St. George Ferry Terminal, providing a link to Manhattan. The Staten Island Railway (SIR) also has a station (Old Town) within a reasonable walking distance, though bus connections might be more direct for some.
The park's proximity to major roads and public transport routes ensures that it's a convenient destination for both local Staten Islanders and visitors from other boroughs.
Ocean Breeze Park and its Athletic Complex offer an impressive array of services and facilities, catering to both serious athletes and casual visitors:
- State-of-the-Art Indoor Track & Field Athletic Complex: This 135,000 square-foot, IAAF-certified facility features an eight-lane indoor track, weight rooms, cardio rooms, long jump pits, pole vault, high jump, and shot-put areas, making it a premier venue for competitive events and general fitness.
- Extensive Hiking and Running Trails: The park boasts an extensive trail system, including the Blue Loop Trail (1.7 miles) and Orange Loop Trail (1.4 miles), which combine to form a 5K Cross-Country Course. These trails traverse natural areas of wetlands, grasslands, and shrub forests, offering diverse running and hiking experiences.
- Therapeutic Horse Riding Arena: The first of its kind on Staten Island, this arena provides year-round support for physical and occupational therapy programs for members of the city's disabled community, offering a unique and invaluable service.
- Recreation Center Amenities: Beyond the track, the athletic complex includes multipurpose rooms and fitness areas with various equipment for general workouts and classes like "Sit and Fit."
- Eateries: The facility includes eateries, providing convenient options for refreshments and meals for athletes and visitors.
- Public Restrooms: Clean and accessible restrooms are available within the Athletic Complex and potentially at other points in the park.
- NYC Parks Management: The entire park and complex are managed by NYC Parks, ensuring a high standard of maintenance, safety, and operation.
Ocean Breeze Park stands out with several distinct features and highlights that make it a truly exceptional resource for New Yorkers:

- Year-Round Accessibility: With a significant indoor complex, the park offers excellent recreational opportunities regardless of weather conditions, a major advantage for New York's varied climate.
Ocean Breeze Park, and particularly the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Athletic Complex, operates under the NYC Parks system, meaning its "promotions" are typically structured as membership benefits and publicly accessible events rather than commercial sales.
Key offerings and potential "promotions" for locals include:

- Annual Ocean Breeze Beach Soccer Tournament (held at nearby Midland Beach grounds, but affiliated with Ocean Breeze).
- Community and fitness classes (e.g., "Sit and Fit" mentioned in reviews) that may be part of the recreation center membership or free public offerings.
- Volunteer opportunities, such as "Super Steward: Pathkeeper Training," where locals can learn about trail maintenance and plant identification while contributing to the park.
- Competitive Event Spectatorship: While not free, attending high-level track and field events at the Athletic Complex can be a unique and exciting local experience, often with ticket sales available through the complex's website.

Ocean Breeze Park Reviews
I absolutely love coming here to work out , it’s very spacious . They have all different types of rooms with different equipment . My only discrepancy is they don’t have a pool , as big as the establishment is. I think if they had a pool it would be a better establishment for all.
Mar 03, 2025 · Chrystal TorresWould not recommend for dogs that aren't on flea/tick prevention. Took my dogs for a walk earlier today (5/19) and found 7 tick larvae on one dog alone. My other is brindle colored and harder to find on him, but now I'm skeeved out and concerned for myself.UPDATE: (photo) morning after treatment from other dog 🤢
May 20, 2025 · Stephanie MartinezExcellent venue for a track meet, both as an athlete and spectator. Meets are extremely well run and organized. Athletes are made aware of what they need to do or where to go and spectators can follow along with easy to hear announcements. Music is regularly played between or during races and races remain on schedule. The venue is operated by the NYC Parks, and sits a few hundred feet from the sound, which can be seen through the windows. Track is banked and surface is fresh and fast.
Jan 05, 2025 · Wesley WorksA very nice trail near South Beach with a picnic area, right next to the Ocean Breeze Atheltic Complex. Trail starts to the right of the Atheltic Complex, look for the picnic tables, and loops through thick trees. No elevation. Sandy and grassy grounds. Fair amount of wildlife to see. Ample parking in the covered parking lot or across the street at South Beach. The trails could be marked and maintained better. You sort of have to guess or know about the trail to use it, minimal signage pointing it out.
