While Kennedy Dells Dog Park is primarily an off-leash area for dogs, it offers several key services and amenities that enhance the experience for both pets and their owners.
Fenced, Off-Leash Dog Area: The core offering is a spacious, fully fenced enclosure allowing dogs to run and play freely without the need for a leash. This secure environment provides peace of mind for owners, knowing their dogs are safe while interacting with other canines.
Double-Gated Entrance: For added safety and to prevent accidental escapes, the dog park features a double-gated entry system, ensuring controlled access for all furry visitors.
Waste Bag Dispensers: To promote cleanliness and responsible pet ownership, free poop bags are often available at the park, making it easy for owners to clean up after their dogs.
Benches and Seating Areas: Throughout the dog run, you'll find benches and comfortable seating areas where owners can relax, supervise their dogs, and socialize with other pet parents.
Trash Receptacles: Ample trash bins are provided for convenient disposal of waste bags and other refuse, helping to keep the park clean and enjoyable for everyone.
Access to Hiking Trails: Beyond the dedicated dog run, Kennedy Dells Park boasts an extensive network of hiking trails. While dogs must be leashed on these trails, they offer a fantastic opportunity for longer walks and exploration of the natural beauty of the area. Some trails feature elevation changes and steps, providing a good workout for both you and your dog.

Kennedy Dells Dog Park and the surrounding Kennedy Dells Park offer a variety of features that make it a standout destination for dog owners in the New York area.
Expansive Off-Leash Area: The main highlight is undoubtedly the generously sized fenced-in area specifically designed for off-leash dog play. This provides ample room for dogs of all sizes to run, chase, and socialize freely.
Beautiful Wooded Scenery: The park is enveloped by stunning natural beauty, featuring mature trees like Hemlock, White Pine, Beech, and Maple. This creates a tranquil and aesthetically pleasing environment for walks and relaxation.

Community Hub for Dog Owners: Many regulars praise the park for fostering a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. It’s a place where dog owners can connect, share advice, and build friendships while their dogs play.
Peaceful and Secluded: Despite its accessibility, the dog run itself is somewhat isolated at the top of a hill, offering a sense of seclusion and a peaceful retreat from more crowded areas of the park.
Historic Elements: The broader Kennedy Dells Park has a rich history, with some dated signage and remnants of older exercise stations, adding a touch of character and a sense of timelessness to the natural landscape.
It is worth noting, however, that visitors should be prepared to bring their own water for their dogs, as no water facilities are currently provided within the dog park itself. Additionally, while the park is well-maintained, some of the older trail amenities show signs of age.
As a public park facility, Kennedy Dells Dog Park generally does not offer traditional commercial promotions or special offers like discounts or loyalty programs. Its primary "offer" is the provision of a free and accessible off-leash area for the community's canine companions. However, the true value lies in the consistent, high-quality experience it provides.
The ongoing "promotion" for New York residents is the opportunity to enjoy a safe, expansive, and natural environment for their dogs without any membership fees or daily charges. This consistent availability of a well-maintained space for dog socialization and exercise is a significant benefit in itself. Occasional community events or clean-up days might be organized by local volunteer groups or the park management, which could be considered special opportunities for engagement and community building. We recommend checking with Rockland County Parks Department or local community boards for any announced events or updates related to the park.

Before going to the dog park, us and our dog usually walking in the trail. Beautiful woods scenery and big dog park. But you need to bring your own water for your dog because no water provided.
Nov 15, 2024 · revo jiOlder trail that must be beautiful when trees in full bloom.Lots of elevation changes and steps down and up.Multiple places to sit.Only bathrooms by parking lot.Originally set up with stretching and exercise stations.Signage dated 1975 and stations are in disrepair and for most part unusable.
Mar 12, 2025 · James CawleyIt was the hottest weekend in January and beautiful for a walk, so we decided to take Lexie to the dog park for the first time since moving to New City. Lexie had an amazing time and met lots of new friends both human & canine. BTW, so did my wife & I. The park is a very spacious fenced area for multiple dogs, it has benches for the humans to sit & relax, it has a double gate system and there’s also a poop bag station should you forget yours. There’s ample parking and is a nice hike to the dog park from the parking lot, so be ready for a nice walk. I also recommend maybe boots depending on what type of weather there’s been or old sneakers because they might get a little muddy or pick up lots of dirt. The same with the close you’re wearing since some of the new friends you meet might be very happy to see you and jump all over you. Lexie was pooped out and as soon as we got home she went straight to bed.
