Kitchell Pond Reviews
Hiking trails are wide, level, and the main trail is paved. Great for hiking, jogging, walking, biking, kids, strollers, and dogs. Side trails are not paved and can be muddy after a rain. The parking area is large but can fill up on nice weather weekends. Bathrooms in the parking area are good. There is a covered picnic area, but it may be reserved for parties. Most of the trails are out and back but since parking is in the center this isn’t a problem.
Jun 02, 2024 · cdk007Easy walk in the woods nearby with plenty of benches spaced out. Paved/gravel paths. At the pond itself is a perfect spot for a picnic and also there are wildflowers and lots of fun wildlife throughout the park including songbirds, frogs, fish, crayfish, turtles, herons, dragonflies, butterflies, bees, and mink. Go in the woods in May/June to hear the incredible sound of the wood thrush.
Jul 28, 2024 · Katie G.Nice place to relax after a run/walk. Watch out for the bugs though!!
Jul 21, 2024 · vrinda pahujaGreat area for an easy walk on nicely maintained trails around the pond with several benches to take in the sun and enjoy the view. The pond drains into Loantaka Brook, Saw two giant Snapping Turtles so keep an eye out. This park connects to the Loantaka Park which has extensive wooded walking trails for the more ambitious.
Jun 10, 2022 · John ArdiaGreat starting point for walking through the lontaka reservation. We usually head towards the lontaka way. Enough parking , especially early on the weekends , and restrooms towards the south street side.
