La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham New York City Central Park Reviews
You get what you pay for.We reserved the "Suite" for a 5-night stay in mid-April.The bad:The "Suite" had a full-size bed and a twin bed, but no chairs or couch — making it uncomfortable to relax after long days of walking. The carpet was dirty. There were no services to the room provided like sheets or trash removal. We finally had to ask for fresh towels after a few days. The advertised continental breakfast was never available; after several days of being told it would be offered "tomorrow," we eventually asked for a refund and received $65 back. Instead, there was a basic "grab-and-go" setup with coffee but no place to sit and eat. The breakfast was slices of white bread individually wrapped in plastic wrap. The elevator was extremely small and slow — only one for 14 floors — and we often found it quicker to take the stairs (we were on the 7th floor). The good:The location is quiet and convenient — close to public transportation, away from the busyness of Times Square, and completely walkable. Central Park is less than a block away and easy to access. The shower was large (though there was no tub).Overall:You get what you pay for.
Apr 28, 2025 · Caryn AshbayNathasha did an amazing job with customer service and accommodation. However on that same day the hotel was out of water for 17 hours, April 2nd. Therefore everyone had to use bottles of water to wash and brush teeth with. Steve was exceptional and very down to earth person. Unfortunately he had to deal with all the heat of the customers but he did great. Rooms are extremely small. And bathroom even smaller, so if your fat I definitely would not recommend you staying there, because you will lose your direction in there, your literally turning in a circle with no space. Maintenance is severely needed, and needs a new elevator or more than one.
Apr 16, 2025 · John JonesEverything about the place is downright filthy. The carpets are stained, the sheets are stained, even the walls are stained. It’s small and cramped, just like you’d expect of anything in NYC. However, it lacked the basic necessities you’d expect in any hotel room - like even a single towel hook. The continental breakfast advertised never did happen because each day we were told “our truck didn’t arrive.” I’m not sure I’d eat there even if they had breakfast available because the tables and floors are never clean. Nothing in this establishment - not even the lobby - looks like it has been properly cleaned on a regular basis. There’s one tiny elevator for 14 floors, so keep that in mind if you’re traveling with children. The only good thing I can say about this place is that it’s walking distance to Central Park and to the Museum of Natural History.
May 30, 2025 · Alyssa VernonBringing my grandson to the city to see American Museum of Natural History, I was glad to find the Central Park location. The cost was reasonable for the budget we had set and we enjoyed the well maintained classic building. Our room was small and a quirky but it was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was great with hot eggs and meat, toast, waffles, cereals, juices, milk and coffee, tea, etc. (The attendant not only brought more waffle batter, but made the perfect waffle for me.) We easily saw Nat'l His., Guggenheim, Central Park carousel and zoo, and found nice casual restaurants on the street just a block from Central Park West. We plan to stay again for more good times.
Apr 26, 2025 · Julia BrutonThe room was OK for the price (we apparently had one of the bigger ones) -- a bit shabby, but hey, it's New York City, and the location is good. But what definitely was not OK was the hotel management's handling of a major mishap with the only elevator in the building. When we returned from dinner, we were told the elevator was out of commission, and would not be fixed until the next morning -- which meant we had to climb the stairs to our room on the 11th (eleventh!!!) floor. When we pointed out that this would be very hard to do, and possibly damaging, at our age (78 and 72), especially for me, who had a knee procedure earlier this year, the person at the front desk just shrugged and told us to bring it up with the manager the next morning for some recompense. So, huffing and puffing and taking frequent stops, we climbed the stairs, which took a lot of time.Forward to the next morning at 9 a.m.: The elevator was not fixed yet, so we reversed the slow climb from the evening. When we asked at the front desk to speak to the manager, she claimed he was in a business meeting. After breakfast, when we had planned to leave New York, the manager was still not available and the elevator not yet fixed, we left our mobile phone number at the desk and asked that we'd be called once the elevator was fixed, because we could not climb those stairs again.By 11:30, when no-one had called, we called the hotel, and were informed that the elevator had just been fixed. Upon our return to the hotel, we again asked to speak with the manager, who allegedly was again in a meeting. We repeated to the front desk person that we expected some kind of recompense and reimbursement for 1) the inconvenience and our troubles in general, 2) having been subjected to dangerous health conditions by having to climb 11 flights up and down, especially at our age and with serious knee problems, 3) having lost two hours of our time and having to pay extra for the late check-out at a parking garage around the corner. The front desk person called someone (the manager? we don't know), then informed us that it was against La Quinta's policy to offer reimbursements, with the exception of the $30 tax for the second night. This is outrageous, of course, and deserves the worst ranking. Actually, it deserves to be reported to the appropriate city and state oversight authorities, and a law suit against La Quinta would also not be out of place here.
