Loews Regency New York Reviews
I had the pleasure of staying at the Loews Regency New York Hotel in April 2025 for a long weekend getaway with my partner. We flew in early Friday morning, and the front desk staff were fantastic—friendly, efficient, and able to get us into our room well before the official check-in time. The hotel is located on the quiet, clean Upper East Side, just a few minutes’ walk from Central Park. We didn’t try the lobby restaurant (there are just too many amazing options in NYC!), and while I wasn’t blown away by the lobby’s design, it still felt modern and well-kept.Our room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and we appreciated having a view of the neighboring street rather than an alley. A fun touch: the bathroom mirror has a built-in TV.Overall, this was a great stay. Was it the best hotel I’ve ever experienced? Not quite. I think the Loews Bisha Hotel in Toronto offers a more luxurious vibe and better five-star service, and I personally prefer the food and beverage options at their South Florida properties.Still, would I return? Absolutely. New York hotels operate on a different scale, and this one hit the right notes for comfort, service, and location.
May 22, 2025 · Bradley PhelpsThere are five-star hotels, and then there are five-star hotels. This is neither. Maybe—maybe—in the late ’80s or early ’90s, this place could’ve passed as a low-end five-star hotel. At best. And only if it had entirely different management.Because let’s be honest: this is a four-star hotel at best. And even that’s generous. It's long in the tooth. There’s no other way to put it. Everything feels crusty, outdated, and barely functioning. Worn and torn, as they say. It is what it is—but please, don’t pretend this is a luxury experience. What really pushed me to write this review, though, wasn’t the aging infrastructure. It was the management. Or rather, the total absence of it. The attitude was rude and dismissive, requests went ignored, and no one seemed remotely interested in guest experience. It was like nobody was home. Disappointing doesn’t even begin to cover it.And just when I thought it couldn’t get worse—there it was. As I was packing up in the morning, a two-inch cockroach scuttled across the carpet. I get it, it’s New York. But still... that pretty much summed up my "Loews Regency" experience to a T.Good location though.
May 05, 2025 · Stephen StewartThe location is awesome being only 2 blocks from Central Park and in close proximity to the Broadway shows. The rooms are super spacious, especially for New York! The food and service at the Bar and Grill was great and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back!
Apr 22, 2025 · Dan LongmanI can't recommend a stay at the Loews Regency New York. The biggest issue was the state of the room. The doors, walls, carpet, and furniture were dinged up, roughly painted over, discolored, or generally in poor condition. The closet in particular looked like the closet from a run down rental where the landlord paints over everything between tenants and calls it a day. It sounds like some of the other rooms are nicer, but I wouldn't take my chances!I was hoping the service could make up for the disappointing room, but it didn't. During our three night stay, we were never greeted when returning to the hotel, no one offered bag assistance upon arrival, no one ever asked if we needed a taxi when departing, etc etc. There were no extra touches such as a welcome drink or gift and check in was done from the desk rather than the couches. I typically don't index on this, but if it had been done right, it could have partially redeemed our abysmally bad stay. The front desk staff was friendly enough, but at no point did I feel like I was staying in a five star hotel.I shared all this feedback with the staff via their survey and all I got was two cut and paste emails. One wasn't even properly puctuated. I won't return to a Loews property in the future.
Apr 29, 2025 · Connie GThis hotel is beautiful and I love the location. The room service is top notch and the housekeeping is wonderful. The only complaint I have is the TV system. It’s unpleasant to watch TV here. It is outdated and you cannot watch television on Netflix, Hulu etc. I feel that for a place like this, and to improve a guest’s stay, they should upgrade their TV’s. Also no subtitles available, in case a person is hard of hearing, or just prefers to watch shows with subtitles.
