Far from being just another green space, Maker Park has blossomed into a dynamic cultural hub, attracting locals and visitors alike with its vibrant array of events, breathtaking harbor views, and a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere. What was once an overlooked vacant lot has been brilliantly transformed into a lively outdoor venue, consistently hosting everything from electrifying music festivals to engaging public art displays and even classic Shakespeare performances. For New Yorkers searching for an authentic, energetic, and community-focused outdoor experience, Maker Park truly delivers.
This remarkable transformation is largely thanks to the vision and dedication of MakerSpace NYC, who spearheaded the conversion of a neglected area into a thriving public park. The park's ethos is deeply rooted in fostering creativity, supporting local talent, and providing accessible cultural experiences for all. It’s a place where diverse genres of music, art, and community spirit converge, creating a truly unique vibe that residents rave about. Maker Park is not merely a place to pass through; it’s a destination where you can connect with your neighbors, discover new artists, and simply enjoy a refreshing break from the everyday, all while taking in the serene beauty of the waterfront.
The success of Maker Park lies in its commitment to constant evolution and community engagement. It’s a living canvas, where public art installations frequently change, reflecting the dynamic creative energy of Staten Island. This continuous reinvention keeps the park fresh and exciting, encouraging repeat visits and ensuring there's always something new to experience. Whether you’re a long-time Staten Island resident looking for a go-to spot for weekend fun, or a New Yorker from another borough eager to explore the island's burgeoning cultural scene, Maker Park promises an enriching and thoroughly enjoyable outing. Maker Park Reviews
We came to the park for the first time for the 2023 Roots Music Fest and it was awesome. Incredible blues, funk, and soul bands performed. We saw Brewster Moonface (they ROCKED), B-Mack (super talented), and Freddy Deboe & band (great musicians). There was also creative vendors and good food. The entire vibe was perfect. Everyone was relaxed and thoroughly enjoying themselves. We're looking forward to attending more events hosted here in the future. Thanks for the great night!
Jul 23, 2023 · EThis is a cool spot to have s mini picnic or just chill. There's nothing here per se, its just a nice break from all the restaurants and local shops; you can see the harbor and catch the breeze of the water. There is on Saturday @ 2p Shakespeare in the park at Maker Park . Bee-U had been moved. These are some pics of the bees. I do advise going to see Tofu the cost in the Shakespeare performances ... he's so adorable.
May 15, 2021 · A J HallOne of my favorite places in Staten Island, Bee U does great programming here with Maker Space
Sep 10, 2024 · Ateea KaziJust moved next door. Park? Um no, more like whoever is responsible for this property needs it stripped and given back to the city. This piece of ''public land'' is not friendly to the public nor will it ever be with all the drug activity here! It's in a bad neighborhood that will bring trouble to it if it's ever made into something nice. As of now it's good for nothing! Turn this place into a dog park, skate park or kids playground. This property needs to go back to the people and as a local who just moved in it's an eyesore and needs to go! There is are 2 nice parks 2 blocks away if even. In comparison this place is a joke! I hope this updated review stirs up some much needed change for this location!
Oct 11, 2023 · Y OWonderful event space, Holds lots of local music events and table sales for local vendors. A welcomed part of the community. They absolutely need to get a speaker outside when you watch the DJ booth from the street
