Stunning! So quiet, wild and very empty on a weekday morning in the summer.Wear long pants and be vigilant for ticks while walking to and from your car — the trail is grassy and you *will* pick up a tick. I wouldn’t bring my dog here for this very reason.Otherwise, a gorgeous, peaceful place to enjoy the end of the North Fork! Free parking, too. (You turn left into the small lot, opposite the much larger lot for the ferry.) - Hannah Bae

Managed by Suffolk County Parks, this park offers a unique blend of coastal environments, tranquility, and recreational opportunities, making it a highly regarded scenic spot for both local residents and visitors seeking an authentic outdoor experience. For inquiries, the park can be reached at (631) 852-3232 or via mobile at +1 631-852-3232.

As a prominent Scenic Spot, Orient Point County Park provides a captivating array of natural wonders. The park's environment is characterized by its wild and relatively untouched beauty. It is a place where the land narrows dramatically to a literal point, creating a rare geographical feature where the waters of the Long Island Sound and Peconic Bay converge and, depending on the tides, can be observed lapping at one's ankles. This convergence of two distinct bodies of water offers ever-changing views and a dynamic coastal landscape. The park’s trails are predominantly grassy, winding through the natural vegetation that thrives in this unique ecosystem. Visitors consistently describe the park as stunning, quiet, and often empty, particularly during weekday mornings, offering a true sense of peace and solitude away from the usual crowds. The wild nature of the park means that visitors should be prepared for its untamed beauty, including the presence of ticks, which are a common occurrence in grassy, natural areas. Therefore, wearing long pants and being vigilant is recommended for those exploring the trails. While the park’s wildness is part of its charm, visitors with dogs should be mindful of the tick presence. The park's serene atmosphere also makes it an excellent location for simply relaxing and enjoying the natural surroundings, whether it's watching the distant ferries or observing the local wildlife.

In terms of services and features, Orient Point County Park caters to a variety of outdoor activities. For those who enjoy walking and exploring, the park offers trails that lead to the "point," providing exceptional panoramic views. The journey to the point itself is part of the experience, offering a gradual immersion into the coastal environment. Fishing is a popular activity here, with the confluence of the Sound and Bay creating favorable conditions for various fish species. Anglers often find success at the point, and the strong tides add to the challenge and excitement of the sport. Another remarkable feature of the park is its potential as a vantage point for observing severe weather. Visitors have noted it as a great place to watch a storm, experiencing the raw power of nature in a relatively safe, yet exposed, setting. Parking is a convenient aspect for visitors, with free parking available in a small lot. This lot is located on the left when approaching the park, opposite the much larger lot associated with the ferry terminal, making access straightforward for those arriving by car. For a more adventurous experience, particularly for those looking to drive closer to the point, a Suffolk County Outer Beach Permit can be purchased at Indian Island. This permit allows vehicular access to certain sections of the outer beach, providing a different perspective of the park and its surroundings.

Promotional information for Orient Point County Park often emphasizes its status as one of the most unique viewpoints on Long Island. It is promoted as an ideal destination for those seeking a tranquil escape and an opportunity to connect with nature.
