Petruska Park Introduce
For families in Paramus, New Jersey, and our cherished neighbors throughout Bergen County, Petruska Park stands as a true local treasure. Located conveniently at 475 N Farview Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652, this isn't just another patch of green space; it's a dynamic and welcoming community hub designed with families and active lifestyles in mind. As one local enthusiastically shares, even if they haven't explored the entire park, their "kids LOVE the playground" – a testament to its immediate appeal and child-friendly design.
Petruska Park strikes a wonderful balance, offering extensive recreational opportunities without feeling overwhelming. While it might not have the sprawling scale of a county park like Van Saun, its thoughtful layout ensures that every inch is utilized effectively. We, as locals, appreciate that the park is clearly divided into sections catering to different age groups, making it easier for parents to supervise and for children to find appropriate play. There's a dedicated area for "smaller children closer to the parking area, and another for bigger kids towards the rear," ensuring fun and safety for everyone.
Beyond the excellent playgrounds, Petruska Park is also a vital center for sports and community gatherings. Its "nice sized" fields, basketball courts, and roller hockey rink provide ample space for organized leagues and casual games, reflecting its role as a key part of Paramus's recreational infrastructure. What truly makes Petruska Park feel like home, however, is its strong local appeal. As one resident observed, "The local residents appear to be the main visitors and the 'outsiders' are rarely seen, which contributed to the park being kept clean for the most part." This sense of local ownership contributes to a clean, well-maintained, and friendly environment, making it a place we are proud to frequent. Plus, with exciting events like the farmer's market, as another happy visitor stated, "We love going to the farmer's market. The bathrooms are always scrubbed clean. The fields are beautiful. Bring the kids. There is lots of fun time here. Sporting events etc."

Petruska Park Reviews
I have yet to explore the entire park as my kids LOVE the playground but so far, so good! The play area isn't overly huge (unlike Van Saun Park or Overpeck) but well-spread apart and covers large areas. There's a part made for smaller children closer to the parking area, and another for bigger kids towards the rear. The field is nice sized (which I never used), as well as the basketball court and a hockey rink (for roller blades, I believe). The local residents appear to be the main visitors and the "outsiders" are rarely seen, which contributed to the park being kept clean for the most part. The park occasionally hosts farmer's market, food truck, and other events (which I couldn't stop for any of) but I'd love to pre-plan my schedule to take my family to check them out.Unsure whether it's permanent or temporary due to the pandemic, but the building acted as a poll site for the 2020 Presidential election. The staff was straight forward and helpful.
