Red Lion Inn & Suites Brooklyn, situated at 279 Butler Street, Brooklyn, NY 11217, boasts a highly advantageous location that makes it an excellent choice for New Yorkers and visitors alike. This address places it firmly in a central Brooklyn neighborhood, offering unparalleled access to major transportation hubs and iconic attractions.
One of the most significant highlights of the hotel's location is its close proximity to Atlantic Avenue – a major artery in Brooklyn, teeming with shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. As one satisfied customer enthused, it's "a few minutes walk from Atlantic Ave. And tube station. Great Central location for everything." This accessibility is a game-changer for navigating New York City.
Here’s a breakdown of its excellent accessibility:
Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center Subway Station: This is arguably the most crucial accessibility feature. Just a few minutes' walk from the hotel, this massive subway complex is a hub for numerous subway lines, including the 2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, R, and W trains. This unparalleled access means guests can reach virtually any part of Manhattan, Queens, and other Brooklyn neighborhoods quickly and efficiently. It also serves as a major station for the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), connecting guests to Long Island.
Barclays Center: For sports fans and concert-goers, the hotel's location is ideal. Being just minutes from Barclays Center means easy access to Brooklyn Nets basketball games, New York Islanders hockey (when they play there), and a constant stream of major concerts and events without the hassle of long commutes.
Downtown Brooklyn & Cultural Institutions: The hotel is a short walk from the heart of Downtown Brooklyn, offering access to attractions like the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), the Brooklyn Public Library's Central Branch, and extensive shopping districts on Fulton Street and around City Point. This proximity allows guests to immerse themselves in Brooklyn's rich cultural scene.
Driving and Parking: For those arriving by car, Butler Street offers reasonable access to major roadways in Brooklyn. While city parking can always be a consideration, the hotel's location generally offers more manageable driving access compared to extremely dense areas. It's always advisable to check with the hotel regarding parking options.
Walkability: The immediate neighborhood around 279 Butler Street is generally walkable, providing access to local cafes, restaurants, and convenience stores, enhancing the overall convenience of the stay.

Red Lion Inn & Suites Brooklyn at 279 Butler Street, Brooklyn, NY 11217, distinguishes itself with several key features and highlights that enhance the guest experience, making it a compelling choice for those visiting New York City.
Unbeatable Central Location: The absolute top highlight is its "Great Central location," just "a few minutes walk from Atlantic Ave. And tube station." This proximity to the Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center transit hub is unparalleled, offering immediate access to almost every major subway line (2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, R, W) and the LIRR. This feature alone makes navigating New York City incredibly easy and efficient for guests, whether they're heading to Manhattan for business or exploring Brooklyn's diverse neighborhoods.
Spacious and Clean Guest Rooms: Unlike many New York City hotels where space can be at a premium, guests consistently praise the "very spacious" rooms at the Red Lion. Coupled with the assurance that rooms are "always kept clean," this provides a comfortable and relaxing retreat, a significant feature that directly contributes to guest satisfaction and a pleasant stay.
Dedicated and Friendly Staff: The hotel's staff receives glowing reviews for being "super helpful" and "very friendly." One guest specifically highlighted their assistance during a flight cancellation, noting they "will definitely stay again!" This commitment to excellent customer service and a welcoming atmosphere is a defining feature, making guests feel valued and supported throughout their visit.

This complimentary offering not only saves guests time and money but also provides a convenient and satisfying start to their day. It enhances the overall value proposition of the hotel, especially for budget-conscious travelers.
Proximity to Barclays Center: For fans of sports or live entertainment, the hotel's close proximity to Barclays Center is a major highlight. Guests can easily walk to Nets games, concerts, and other major events, avoiding the need for taxis or crowded late-night subway rides, adding immense convenience to their leisure plans.
Value for Price: While one review noted it was "not a cheap hotel" compared to all options, it was seen as a "decent price compared to others" in the immediate competitive market. This indicates that for its prime location and amenities, the Red Lion Inn & Suites Brooklyn offers significant value, balancing cost with quality and convenience in a bustling city.
These features collectively make Red Lion Inn & Suites Brooklyn a highly attractive option for travelers prioritizing convenience, comfort, and excellent service in a prime Brooklyn location.
As a hotel operating within a competitive market like New York City, Red Lion Inn & Suites Brooklyn often leverages standard hospitality promotions and booking incentives rather than unique, standalone "special offers" on a daily basis. Its primary "promotion" is its consistent value, balancing a strategic location and essential comforts with its pricing.
However, New Yorkers and visitors looking to book a stay can often find savings through the following common hotel "promotions" and strategies:
Advance Purchase Rates: Many hotels, including those under the Red Lion brand, offer discounts for booking well in advance of your stay. This allows guests to secure lower rates by committing early, often with a non-refundable clause. This is a common "special offer" for planners.
Loyalty Program Discounts: If Red Lion Inn & Suites is part of a larger hotel group (like Sonesta International Hotels Corporation, which acquired Red Lion Hotels Corporation), joining their loyalty program can unlock member-exclusive rates, special promotions, and points accumulation for future stays. This is a recurring "offer" for frequent travelers.
Seasonal or Event-Specific Deals: During certain times of the year, or around major events at nearby Barclays Center, hotels may offer specific packages or discounted rates. While not always advertised as "promotions," these can be found by checking the hotel's official booking channels or third-party booking sites closer to your desired dates.
Complimentary Breakfast: The hotel's standard inclusion of a "tasty" and "plenty to choose from" breakfast acts as an inherent "special offer" that adds significant value to the stay. By providing a free meal, guests save on dining expenses, enhancing the overall affordability.
Value of Prime Location: The convenience of being "a few minutes walk from Atlantic Ave. And tube station" is a perpetual "promotion" in itself. The time and money saved on transportation by staying in such a central location add significant value to the overall cost of the stay, often outweighing slightly higher room rates compared to less accessible areas.
Flexible Booking Options: While sometimes costing slightly more, booking options with free cancellation or modification policies can be a "special offer" for those with uncertain travel plans, providing peace of mind.
It is always recommended to check the official Red Lion Hotels website, reputable online travel agencies, and direct contact with the hotel at (718) 301-8049 for the most current pricing, availability, and any specific promotions that may be running during your desired travel dates. While some guests have reported issues with third-party booking sites and deposit returns, directly contacting the hotel or booking through their official channels may help mitigate such issues.

Jan 12, 2023 · VAIBHAV GONDThe web site is manage by a third party and imposible to contact them. Its easy to get your money but not to get your deposit back or to talk to someone that cares about you!!It was not a cheap hotel but we stayed there because it was a decent price compared to others (doesn’t mean it was cheap)We stayed for 4 nights and 5 days. Our room was only tidied up once. Even that we said directly to room service that it was ready and needed to be cleaned. They just said that day that it was already too late. We thought… ok, maybe. But the next days we were out earlier and it was not done any other day.It turned out to be more expensive even, since our deposit was never given back to us.We could never find a way to contact them directly for asking about it. Where we could contact, they responded that it was not with them… that’s it.
May 20, 2023 · victor duarteI recently stayed at the Red Lion Inn & Suites Brooklyn and the experience was atrocious. The only reason I am even giving it a one star is because of the service provided by Scarlett at the front desk. She did everything she could to make our experience better. Unfortunately for us, she was only working the morning we arrived. Let's begin with the review. The location of the hotel is in one of the most graffiti filled neighborhoods in the area, equipped with all of the amenities, graffiti covered buildings, broke down cars, and giant empty lots that you would not be able to pay people to comfortably walk through. The hotel looks like it may be the only building without graffiti on it. Which would be a bonus, if the environment didn't scream of urban 90's movies where someone is bound to be shot before the first half. The hotel's interior is INCREDIBLY small. Even the lobby leaves something to be desired, with people's bags not having somewhere to be stored, stacked high next to the single elevator. The hotel itself was clean enough. The rooms were a strange mix between attempting to be minimalist with whites, white oak, and contrasting with bright reds. They were mostly clean, with small things like the A/C possibly being older than I am (31) and having parts fall off of it. The Direct TV they offered couldn't hold connection for longer than 15 minutes without lagging or completely disconnecting. The room size itself must have been inspired by the word minimalist because I have never stayed in a room so small. The bathroom in the rooms however was beautiful. The shower pressure was fine, the water was perfect, and the amenities offered were all very nice quality.Unfortunately, that may be the last high point of this hotel. Never have I been to a hotel that did not have extra blankets or pillows available. Somehow, they were out of both. There are only 15 parking spaces...15!!! When I called the weeks prior to the stay, which I never got directly to the hotel since apparently the phone lines fully go down sometimes (quote from the staff), I spoke with the primary office number and was told that they had ample parking and I shouldn't worry about calling ahead. Fun Fact : I was told if I had called ahead, they could have held me one of their precious spots. I was also informed by another staff member that sometimes if they overbook, the staff is forced to park on the street. They don't even have enough parking spaces for their staff. And lastly, the breakfast. There was one person attending to the breakfast, so mostly everything was out. She was doing her best to restock, but it was an impossible task for her. They were out of many things before the breakfast was over. The Juice dispenser tasted like they had been intentionally watering down the juices, making them all unbearable to drink. The folded eggs with cheese were surprisingly good, while the Waffle batter dispenser was half broken and falling apart. There also was no measuring cup, nor extra cups, so everyone shared the same cup while pouring, leading to possible cross contamination and health code violations. I will also say the pastries they served were excellent. I had the mini Boston Cream Donut. It surprised me with flavor and freshness.Overall, the experience was horrid. We had to find other places to park, leading to a mile walk to the hotel (I refuse to park on the street with cars covered in graffiti), we were able to get PART of a breakfast, we weren't able to obtain any extras for the room, nor could we check in early, and finally, the walk to the hotel at night looked like the previews to a horror movie. If not for Scarlett, the eggs, and the mini donut, this place would receive 0 stars. I would recommend not only not staying here, but staying as far away from here as possible.

Apr 19, 2022 · LESDAVIES1000The staff are friendly and helpful. Even though there was a glitch in the computer on the day I checked in, the staff still managed to check me in! I asked for a suggestion for a local pizza place and got a very good suggestion. The room is clean and well furnished. There could be more parking at this location, however, I was able to get a spot. The place is affordable given the location, so I would recommend it!
