The Ridgewood Dog Park is highly praised for several key features that make it a favorite among local dog owners:
- Dedicated Off-Leash Play Areas: The primary highlight is the park's function as a designated off-leash environment. This freedom is essential for dogs to get adequate exercise, mental stimulation, and to interact naturally with their peers, fulfilling a critical need for urban and suburban dogs.
- Separated Sections for Dog Sizes: The thoughtful division into "both small dog and large dog sections" is a major safety and comfort feature. This allows smaller, more delicate dogs to play without intimidation from larger, boisterous breeds, and similarly, gives large dogs ample space to run and wrestle without accidentally overwhelming smaller companions. This design ensures a safer and more enjoyable experience for all canine visitors.
- High, Secure Fences: The presence of "high fences" surrounding the park is a critical safety measure. It provides peace of mind for owners, knowing their dogs are securely contained within the designated play areas, preventing escapes and ensuring a controlled environment.
- Double-Gated Entry System: The "Large double gates to get inside" are a testament to the park's commitment to safety and operational efficiency. This system minimizes the chance of a dog slipping out during entry or exit, further enhancing the security of the facility.
- Ample Open Space: Within both the small and large dog sections, there's "Nice open space" that allows dogs plenty of room to run, chase, and burn off energy. This open layout prevents overcrowding and enables various forms of play.
- Vibrant Dog Community: The park is characterized by "Lots and lots of dogs!", indicating a thriving community of canine visitors and their owners. This provides excellent opportunities for dogs to socialize and for owners to connect with fellow pet enthusiasts, sharing tips and forging friendships.
- Positive User Experience: Reviews like "Love this place" and "Came here for dog playground twice" highlight the consistent satisfaction of visitors, affirming the park's success in meeting the needs of its users.
As a municipal dog park, Ridgewood Dog Park does not offer commercial promotions, sales, or discounts in the traditional retail sense. There are generally no admission fees to enter the Ridgewood Dog Park.
However, dog parks often have specific rules and regulations that users must adhere to, such as requiring up-to-date vaccinations, licensing, and responsible waste disposal, which are conditions for use rather than promotions. Any special events, such as dog-related community gatherings, adoption events, or training workshops that might be hosted at the park, would be organized by the Village of Ridgewood Parks & Recreation Department or local animal welfare organizations. Information about such events, including any associated (minimal) fees or registration requirements, would be publicized through the official Village of Ridgewood website, community calendars, or local pet-related social media groups.

Ridgewood Dog Park Reviews
Came here for dog playground twice. Love this place
Mar 29, 2025 · Dan HNice open space with high fences. Large double gates to get inside. They have both small dog and large dog sections. Lots and lots of dogs!
Nov 30, 2016 · Jason BrownThe park is ok and well maintained. People are overall satisfied, except for the bike riders. Some are vulgar, abrasive and they speed like they are at the circuit. The town or regulators should enforce the bikers to use some kind of noise making (bike bell) when approaching from behind!Surprised no accident yet
Sep 08, 2024 · Art MontThe ground can get a little muddy after rain which is not optimal when you have a dog that loves to roll around. Facilities are ok. Water is turned off during the winter months so make sure you bring your own water. Lots of dogs but some are tough, and a couple owners did not really have control over their dogs. It is a good local spot to go to.
Apr 08, 2024 · Peter KantzilierisI don’t know who likes this place more, my Schnauzers or me. Beautifully surrounded by a pond and trees, friendly dogs, friendly people, friendly staff. My favorite early morning spot for that morning dog walk after dropping my wife at the bus stop.
