Customer Reviews
We were out on our typical random drives and ended up at the Taylor Park Reservoir and was about to go back towards Gunnison to stay the night, because the road was closed at Cottonwood Pass and we decided to check out the Trading Post. Much to our surprise this RV Park was open and we were able to stay the night. Our focus is photography and videography and we are part time Sprinter van people. So, the things mentioned by other reviewers here do not bother us. There are no tress here yet, so the view was unobstructed. The bath house was clean and there was a space heater inside that warmed the room. The parking space was gravel, so that cut down on the dirt and what we track into the van. The only hook up we use is 30amp and 12v and it was perfect for us. We parked in slot 12 and the view was spectacular! The 9,500' elevation here made for excellent air quality. We hope to get to come here again sometime this year. Thank you to the owners for making this a nice place to stay. If y'all plant trees, consider leaving some space's for those who want that perfect view with no obstructions for day and night sky viewing.
We have been coming every year to Sky High/Taylor Park for over 15 years. It’s an oasis in the rural Colorado mountains. I have been through ownership changes and many managers. I can tell you Sherri and her husband make our annual trip feel like we just returned home. They know your name they go out of their way to say hi and more importantly they make Sky High a great place to spend some quality time in the mountains of Colorado. The park is the park, a place to park our rv enjoy off-roading fishing and biking. But the people like Sherri make your adventure one you look forward to doing again and again. Thanks Sherri and the entire team at Sky High.
The tall guy in the trading post on August 27th, 2024 was very rude every time I went in there. Not friendly at all. Conversely the women and men running the RV park were great.
I made the reservation months ago and said the ages of the people coming with me and received the total. We get to the campground and they increased our total by $75 saying they made a mistake. We had barely enough room at our site to park two side by sides. We had to park our vehicles down over the hill at the parking lot and walk. The sewage connection from the person next to you is two feet from the picnic table. They nickel and dime you on everything. We will never go back. This trip is by far the worst campground we have ever stayed at. They have made this campground now setup for the people who have the $500k plus rvs and are making it so the everyday family cannot afford to stay at this campground. There are so many better places to stay in the area for free.
If you want to be nickeled and dimed to death and price gouged on camping, this is the place to go. It's unfortunate this is one of the only RV parks in the area. Where I can see some rules needing to be enforced bc they're the only place with showers and bathroom access in the area, others are absolutely ridiculous. The cancellation policy is 30 days in advance, you only get a fire ring if you're on the outside edge of camping (it's not promised even when you ask for it at booking, it also cost extra per day if you have fire ring access), if there are more than 2 adults you have to pay extra (for kids even-PER DAY), and you pay for extra vehicle parking if it doesn't fit within the limits of your camping space. Also be aware you're charged extra for laundry access, rinsing rigs, + more, but we did not use these options. Management was frazzled and difficult at check in which made it an unpleasant (and unnecessary) experience after traveling 12+ hrs since it wasn't made clear at the time of booking. Nor were we even told our spot # until we arrived at the location. We paid almost twice as much as what we had talked about via phone during booking. This was probably the most micromanaged RV park we have ever stayed. After they were sure to receive the maximum amount of $ at check-in, they did leave us alone throughout our stay. The campsites are so close together it does not leave a lot of room to actually be outside and enjoy the camping experience, especially if you're traveling with a group of people. The beautiful views and access to trails were the biggest pull, but after exploring the area there are other camping options with the same amenities close by (Holt's or free camping). We will not be returning.
