The Beekman, a Thompson Hotel Reviews
I stayed at The Beekman for two nights and was really impressed by this hotel. The front desk staff is extremely friendly and helpful, getting us situated quickly during our late check in of 1AM. The hotel itself is beautiful in architecture, and is really well maintained. The vibe feels very classic, but with a slight modern twist. We booked the standard king room which is the lowest level of room category, but it is miles ahead of other hotel rooms in the area. The decor is really well thought out, the minibar is stocked with great products and the little offerings like an in-room bottle opener really make the experience better. For a small room, the bathroom is quite large and the shower is luxurious. The ventilation and temperature control is also so much better than other hotels I’ve stayed at.The hotel bar is also an amazing spot for cocktails. The drinks are delicious and well crafted, and the service is really outstanding. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, and the whole staff seemed eager to help even if you weren’t their assigned table. The seating is also super comfortable.Overall, this was a great experience and I will definitely be back when I’m staying in this neighborhood.
May 13, 2025 · Christopher BrahimWe stayed here for one night at the end of our trip. We typically stay closer to nomad or Chelsea but thought this hotel looked really nice. So glad we did, every detail of our stay made us happier. We were welcomed at check in, got a room with the bathroom of my dreams and sheets and pillows so soft I will have to try and hunt them down. The building is unique in that it’s cantered around an open space that allows you to look up at the many floors. The design of the interior has been updated so thoughtfully to match the best of the period character. We had a light meal in the evening and a very nice breakfast the next day. They have us a ride the the seat rabbit bar in the house car which was great as it was bucketing down with rain. Was one of those hotels that it’s very hard to leave and we hope to be back soon. No notes!
May 08, 2025 · Aoife DowlingThe Beekman was a DREAM. I came here after a long trip and it was my birthday. They absolutely made me feel like a queen! It started at breakfast where they gave me this really cute card and a muffin with a candle. The general manager gave us a coupon for 2 free drinks which was a nice touch. The front desk sent a really nice bottle of wine up to my room with another card. I had dinner at the Temple Court and again they went out of their way to make me feel special. I travel frequently and have visited over 100 countries and stayed at some of the most luxurious hotels in the world. I don't think I have ever had this level of customer service and attention to detail before. I would HIGHLY recommend staying at the Beekman and definitely eating at Temple Court.
May 14, 2025 · Ruth TisdaleHotel was great, the best part is the aesthetic, architecture and design. Everything feels like it is straight out of 1905. The rooms are a bit on the smaller side, and would’ve loved a bath, but we had an upgraded king that was well appointed. They also gave us a bottle of Prosecco and chocolates when we checked in to celebrate. The restaurant (Temple Court) is delicious, albeit a bit on the more expensive side.
Apr 22, 2025 · Caitlin MurphyPros:1) The building is beautiful. Looking at the interior is always a treat. I would also recommend the restaurant (a bit pricy but good).2) Centrally located (on a busy and at times, noisy street). If your business is in the financial area, so easy to get to places.3) The kind employees at the door and reception. There was one interesting moment, though. We asked for a small bag at the reception to put something in it, and apparently, there was 'no' bag in the entire reception area. The receptionist made almost no effort.Cons:1) Although the building is beautiful and historic (by NYC standards), there is too much noise on lower and mid-level floors. Some of the noise comes from the inside, and some (especially at night) from outside. At our last stay (and we stayed there a few times), two nights out of three, there was too much noise from outside. The hotel, which charged us ca. US$700 a night, does not seem to have the money to address insulation.2) We had asked for a higher floor (twice). Despite assurance, we did not get a higher floor room (which would help with the noise problem).3) Our flight from Canada was cancelled due to the weather on the first night, which we had to end up paying for. I asked the people at the reception several times (and on the phone before arriving at the hotel the next day), if we could get a refund. Not only did they refuse to issue a refund, they made absolutely no effort to reduce the inconvenience we had. On our last day, I asked again if there was anything they could do, the manager, Karina, did not even bother leaving her office to talk to me. Karina, that was the least you could do. Not pleasant at all.4) Again, your sector is called hospitality. I know this is NYC and you get your corporate clients, and you may not care much but it is not nice to be that cheap. Really...That coffee at the entrance is really sad and embarrassing. And, if that's all you can afford, at least you can make it available a little longer and in higher quantity. It is not difficult.
