For those preferring to walk or bike, the surrounding area is pedestrian-friendly, with sidewalks that invite exploration of the historic streets and impressive architecture that define this part of the city. Parking options, while typical for New York City, would involve nearby garages, adding to the urban accessibility of the location for those who drive.

Moxy NYC Downtown Reviews
View is amazing from the upper levels. The bar area on the 3rd floor is really nice, we had some great cocktails there and the bartender was really lovely. There were quite a few charges upon arrival though, there are also loads of things included in your stay that you don’t get told about so make sure you do your own research!Hotel is a little hard to find as it’s set a little further back on the sidewalk than the rest of the buildings. Room was small but can’t expect much more for NYC. Good location though.
May 11, 2025 · Jasmine LakeyLet this middling review speak nothing bad about the staff who were all wonderful and inviting. Zero issues in that department. The main issues are really the teeny room, the awful beds, and lack of any decent amenity like a mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot, anything. For that price, you'd expect at least that. They say you can request a cooler and junk, but there wouldn't be anywhere to put the dang thing in the microscopic room. The mattress is very thin and cheap, and it rests on a wooden frame that just allows it to slide all over.Having to go up two sets of elevators, of which at least one was broken everyday was annoying, but hardly a big complaint. The bar you pass to your room was actually quite nice, but sort of awkward to pass through if you're just in your jammies trying to get downstairs to get your food delivery.Housekeeping is only once a week, but we always decline it anyway, so no bother to us, but certainly seems odd.Again though, all the staff we interacted with were awesome, and none of my complaints are their fault.Really, I could forgive the small size or crappy bed, but not both. Great location, though!
May 15, 2025 · Ben GI found the hotel to be clean and conveniently located near multiple subway lines. Our room was very small and claustrophobic, even by NY standards. To get to it, we had to take two elevators from the ground level. (If there were stairs, I missed them, but the option would be great). The first elevator takes you from the street to the bar/restaurant, which was pretty rowdy in a top 40 college kid kind of way the weekend I was there. That's either a turn-on or -off, depending on your tastes, but I think it's in keeping with how this place is marketed. My biggest issue, by far, was the lack of shades in the room. There's a shear curtain that you can pull across the floor-to-ceiling windows for privacy, but it did absolutely nothing to keep light out. It felt like the room was designed to kill vampires. From dawn, we were assaulted by the sun with nowhere to hide. I ended up attempting to sleep with a sleeping mask, a towel wrapped around my face, and a pillow over my head.Another annoyance: This is one of those hotels that charges a daily fee on top of your room rate. Can't call it a resort fee, since there's no resort. In exchange for your money, which you could otherwise spend anywhere, you get a daily $15 food and drink credit that is good only at their bar and does not roll over to the next day. And they said something about a complementary boat tour of the statue of liberty, which felt more like a threat than a bonus. Finally -- and this is probably more about me than the hotel -- the cool factor is a bit try-hard and lame. This is one of those places cooked up by corporate America (Marriott in this case) to compete with boutique hotels that are actually stylish and/or cool. From the "slippery when wet" text on the shower wall to the neon room number, it all feels a little forced. You know the Steve Buscemi/Arrested Development "how do you do, fellow kids" meme? Yeah.Bottom line: It was a convenient, clean, and decently priced option, which is why I booked it. Throw in some curtains, and there's not a lot to actually complain about.
May 19, 2025 · Peter ScheerThis place definitely prioritizes form over function. The rooms are tiny and lacking in amenities (no microwave, coffee machine, limited storage or in-room refrigerator). The ironing board ruined my white dress shirt (blue dye from the board transferred to my shirt). Take note of the thin walls and doors, as you can hear everything happening in the hallways. The elevators were sometimes painfully slow. It seemed like only one elevator was functioning at a time. Kudos to the staff for being friendly and helpful. Location and proximity to the subway was a plus.
Jun 02, 2025 · Andrew ChouShout out to Grace and Henna at the front desk. They were both super friendly and accommodating. They made my first stay at a Moxy super memorable! Prime location & great eats around. Room was super clean and aesthetically pleasing. Definitely will be back!
