The Central Park North Introduce
Welcome to The Central Park North, a charming lodging option located at 137 W 111th St, New York, NY 10026, USA. You can contact them by phone at (212) 662-2300 or mobile at +1 212-662-2300. This establishment is designated as a "Scenic Spot" on our platform, not for grand vistas from every window, but for its prime location that offers unparalleled access to one of the world's most iconic scenic areas, Central Park, and for providing an authentic, budget-friendly New York City experience. This introduction will detail the hotel's environment, its services and goods, its key features, and some promotional insights for local users and visitors, all considered through the lens of its "Scenic Spot" classification.
The environment surrounding The Central Park North is exceptionally vibrant and strategically positioned for exploring Manhattan's most famous green space. Located on West 111th Street, the hotel sits just steps away from the northern edge of Central Park, instantly immersing guests in a "Scenic Spot" of unparalleled urban nature. This proximity means guests can easily access the park's walking paths, recreational areas, and serene landscapes within minutes. The neighborhood itself is a lively part of Harlem, offering a rich cultural tapestry with a mix of historic architecture, local eateries, and a genuine New York City atmosphere. While urban, the immediate surroundings provide a sense of local community, distinct from the commercial intensity of Midtown. The street scene is active, and guests can expect a dynamic urban soundscape, which, as one review notes, might include "street folks who love to sing!" This contributes to an authentic New York experience, though guests sensitive to noise might consider bringing earplugs. The presence of amenities like "Claire's Café & Dunkin close for breakfast & coffee" further enhances the convenience of the environment, making it easy for guests to grab morning essentials before heading out to explore the city or the park. The blend of immediate park access with a lively, authentic neighborhood sets the stage for a unique and memorable stay.
As a lodging option classified under the "Scenic Spot" category due to its prime location near Central Park, The Central Park North offers essential services and goods primarily focused on providing a comfortable, accessible, and value-oriented stay. Core services include providing a "sweet little cozy room" as described by a customer, offering a private space for rest. A distinctive feature, as highlighted in a review, is that "Each floor has a shared restroom." This communal bathroom setup is typical of more budget-friendly accommodations in historic city buildings and is an important service consideration. While this may not be for everyone, it contributes to the hotel's affordability. The front desk service is a key point of interaction; one positive review mentions the hotel as a "great little place to stay if you're touring Manhattan," implying effective check-in and basic assistance. However, another review describes an "Unfriendly front desk with her back facing front door. I have to greet her first to get acknowledged," which indicates an inconsistency in service delivery that potential guests should be aware of. Regarding "goods for sale," a hotel of this nature typically offers fundamental amenities within the room, such as linens, towels, and basic toiletries. While there might not be a dedicated gift shop, the convenience of nearby establishments like "Claire's Café & Dunkin" for breakfast and coffee can be considered an indirect "service" or "good" that enhances the guest's stay by providing readily available sustenance. The provision of comfortable bedding and a clean, safe environment are fundamental "goods" that this "Scenic Spot" lodging aims to deliver, enabling guests to maximize their exploration of the surrounding "Scenic Spot" of Central Park and Manhattan.
The features of The Central Park North are largely defined by its location, its budget-friendly approach, and the characteristics of its historic building. The most significant feature is its unbeatable proximity to Central Park. Being "located right near the Central Park North Subway stop" further amplifies its appeal, making it incredibly convenient for touring Manhattan, as highlighted by a satisfied customer. This excellent transportation access allows guests to quickly reach attractions all over the city. The rooms are described as "sweet little cozy," suggesting that while compact, they offer a comfortable and intimate space. The "shared restroom" on each floor is a notable feature, indicating a communal living arrangement that might appeal to budget-conscious travelers or those seeking a more traditional guesthouse experience. The building itself, as a historic structure, likely lacks an elevator, which is explicitly mentioned as a significant challenge by one frustrated reviewer: "NO ELEVATOR. The woman saw me with a luggage and put me on the 4th floor." This is a crucial feature for potential guests to consider, especially those with mobility challenges or heavy luggage. Another feature is the thin walls, leading to noise transmission, as warned by a reviewer: "Bring earplugs, because walls are thin, & there's some street folks who love to sing!" This transparency about potential noise helps manage guest expectations. Despite these considerations, a major overarching feature is the "best of all, the price is right!" which positions the hotel as an affordable entry point for experiencing New York City, particularly the Central Park area.
For local users and visitors to New York City, The Central Park North is promoted as an excellent value-for-money "Scenic Spot" lodging, emphasizing its prime location and authentic experience. The primary promotional message centers on its unparalleled access to Central Park, inviting guests to explore this iconic urban oasis just steps from their door. Its proximity to the Central Park North Subway stop is a major selling point, highlighting the ease of navigating Manhattan from this base. The hotel is ideal for "touring Manhattan," making it a perfect choice for tourists looking for a practical and affordable place to stay while maximizing their exploration time. Promotional materials would feature appealing images of Central Park and the charming neighborhood, showcasing the "scenic" aspects of the location. While acknowledging the shared bathrooms and potential for street noise (perhaps framed as part of the authentic New York experience), the emphasis would be on the incredible value. It's positioned for travelers who prioritize location and affordability over luxury amenities, offering a "cozy" and intimate stay. Testimonials from satisfied guests who appreciate the "great little place" and "price is right" would be highlighted. Promotional campaigns might target backpackers, solo travelers, or budget-conscious couples looking for a genuine New York adventure. The hotel could also be promoted in conjunction with local Harlem attractions, encouraging guests to explore the rich cultural offerings of the neighborhood just beyond their doorstep. The Central Park North ultimately offers a no-frills, highly convenient, and budget-friendly gateway to experiencing the most iconic "Scenic Spot" in New York City.

The Central Park North Reviews
This is a great little place to stay if you're touring Manhatten. Sweet little cozy room. Ours was on the 2nd floor. Each floor has a shared restroom. Located right near the Central Park North Subway stop. Awesome Claire's Café & Dunkin close for breakfast & coffee. Bring earplugs, because walls are thin, & there's some street folks who love to sing! But, best of all, the price is right!
Mar 27, 2025 · Cher Couvillion WilsonUnfriendly front desk with her back facing front door. I have to greet her first to get acknowledged. NO ELEVATOR. The woman saw me with a luggage and put me on the 4th floor. If it wasn't non-refundable I would leave the hotel and book another one. Do not stay here, it doesn't worth $150 a night.
May 29, 2025 · Chie Kamijo (Kittyちゃん)Stayed here for two nights very small room and shared bathroom and shower. Not accessible as we had to carry all our luggage up 3 flights of stairs. All this was fine until we were woken up by a rat in our trash can at 3 am very disturbing and uncomfortable. There were no people at management or registration to even report this to, quite frustrating. I wouldn’t recommend for the future, you can definitely find a better place same location same price.
Feb 14, 2025 · georgina salresFor New York, it’s fine. But this is in no way a stand-out hotel. It’s old and grimy, the building is tiny and the rooms smell like mold. The washrooms and showers are communal, and are as filthy as you can imagine. It looks like the whole place is about to fall apart. However, considering it’s NYC, this is par for the course. It’s a vibe, but don’t expect much more.
Apr 10, 2025 · United 130This place is tucked away right next to Central Park and extremely close to subway and bus stops. Besides your typical city noises which is to be expected it was a quite place to come to and rest after all day sight seeing. The water was hot and the rooms were warm.
