For New Yorkers, or those with friends and family visiting the city, Kama Central Park presents a surprisingly fitting and practical solution for temporary accommodation. It effectively challenges traditional notions of what a hostel can be, offering a compelling blend of affordability, convenience, and modern amenities that cater to a diverse range of needs.
Firstly, its prime location right next to Central Park is a significant draw. For locals, this means having an incredibly accessible and peaceful retreat literally on your doorstep, perfect for a spontaneous "staycation" or for housing visiting relatives who want to experience quintessential New York. The ease of access via multiple subway lines ensures that reaching any part of the city is straightforward, making it an ideal base for exploring Manhattan without the hassle of long commutes.
The "get what you pay for" sentiment from reviews, indicating a positive value proposition, is crucial in a city where accommodation costs can quickly escalate. Kama Central Park offers a genuinely budget-friendly alternative to hotels, making it an excellent option for those looking to save money without sacrificing safety or comfort. This affordability extends to the on-site cafe, providing cheap and convenient dining options, a blessing in a city known for its pricey culinary scene.

They provide a level of privacy and personal space that is often lacking in traditional dorms, complete with individual lighting, mirrors, AC, and chargers. This thoughtful design ensures a restful and comfortable experience, even for those who might be new to hostel stays. For your out-of-town guests, particularly solo travelers or those on a tighter budget, this feature provides a sense of luxury and privacy that will make their visit more enjoyable and less daunting, as noted by previous guests. The availability of all-female dorms also adds an important layer of comfort and security for many.
Finally, the consistently highlighted friendly and helpful staff contribute significantly to a positive atmosphere. For anyone staying, whether local or visitor, knowing that there's a kind and responsive team available to assist with needs like lost keys or general inquiries provides immense peace of mind. While locker space might be compact, the overall secure environment and the dedication of the staff make Kama Central Park a safe and welcoming haven in the bustling city.

Kama Central Park Reviews
My stay at Kama Central Park was nothing short of pleasant. Melany greeted me warmly when I arrived, and later helped me replace my lost key quickly and with great kindness. My stay was short in NY and Kama was a convenient, safe and affordable option. This was my very first stay in a hostel and would stay again. My first solo trip to New York was full of anxiety and hesitation, but my experience at Kama really made it less daunting. I stayed in an all female dorm of 6, the room had its own shower toilet and sink. I didn’t experience any congestion sharing the bathroom however there was another bathroom conveniently located outside of the room. My roommates were quiet, and the pod style of the beds gave you privacy and and added level of comfort/luxury was that you had your own light, mirror, ac and chargers. There’s a restaurant/lounge downstairs so you can eat breakfast lunch or dinner but they close around 10, even on the weekends. They had signs around the building that made me believe they have events during the week like karaoke or something on Thursdays, which is cool, But limits the experience to those only visiting during the week. There were some things that weren’t so convenient, like I would have liked the beds to be a little thicker and an extra pillow would have been nice. Also the locker space was quite small it didn’t hold my personal bag, but they do have a closet to store your bags in but not practical if you are using it daily to retrieve items. I would rate my overall stay a 4.7. The staff was kind and roommates were quite and private.
Apr 28, 2025 · Jamileth HarrodA very much get what you pay for hostel. Lockers are barely big enough to fit a laptop, showers are kind of transparent and rooms on floor 5 or 6 don’t have an elevator. Rooms are quiet and private, you sleep in a pod style bed. There’s a resturant/cafe style eatery in the hostel which is cheap.
May 31, 2025 · jordan schererHighly recommend staying at Kama! Bed was comfortable to sleep and the capsule style bunk beds gave enough privacy. There was a private bathroom inside the room, and right outside another shared one. Location is amazing, right next to central park. Was lucky to have respectful roommates, so there wasn't much noise. There is a shared kitchen, which was a bit messy, but that's more the guest's fault considering if no one cleans after themselves. But still, it has a fridge, microwave and small induction stove for cooking.
Apr 09, 2025 · Daniela EiraThis place is in a quiet area in terms of noise and so close to central park, which is amazing! The hostel is very clean and they also give you a towel for the night!I also spent some time on their terrace to work, and the wifi works very well! Nice to spend a night or two in NYC.
Apr 27, 2025 · Samuel DurãesDefinitely recommend and will stay again. The staff is very welcoming, attentive, and accommodating, everything was very clean. Must try the cafe. It’s right by Central Park, and anything you need is pretty much within walking distance!
