The Gardens Sonesta ES Suites New York Introduce
The Gardens Sonesta ES Suites New York, located at 215 E 64th St, New York, NY 10065, USA, offers a distinctive accommodation experience on Manhattan's prestigious Upper East Side. While not a traditional "Scenic Spot" in the vein of a park or landmark, this hotel falls within the platform category by providing a comfortable and convenient base from which to explore the city's myriad attractions. It stands out by offering spacious, apartment-style suites, making it an ideal choice for extended stays, families, or anyone desiring more room and residential amenities than a standard hotel room provides, all within a prime New York City location.
The environment of The Gardens Sonesta ES Suites New York is characterized by its setting in the affluent and largely residential Upper East Side. This neighborhood is known for its tree-lined streets, elegant brownstones, and proximity to cultural institutions and high-end shopping. Despite being in a vibrant urban area, the hotel is noted for being "quite for the area," suggesting a more tranquil atmosphere compared to the intense bustle of Midtown or Times Square. This quietude is a significant environmental advantage, allowing guests to relax and unwind after a day of city exploration. The hotel's location is also highlighted for its convenience, specifically being "a very reasonable walk to area hospitals." This makes it a practical choice for individuals and families visiting patients or those involved in medical care in the vicinity. Guests can enjoy the sophistication of the Upper East Side, with its charming local businesses, parks (like Central Park, a short distance away), and easy access to public transportation for reaching other parts of Manhattan and beyond. The general ambiance aims to be welcoming and upscale, fitting with the neighborhood's character.
The services at The Gardens Sonesta ES Suites New York are designed to enhance the comfort and convenience of guests, particularly for longer stays. The hotel offers the fundamental services expected of a hospitality establishment, including front desk assistance for check-in and check-out, and general inquiries. However, customer reviews provide mixed feedback on the consistency of front desk service, with one highly negative experience reported regarding a "rude and inhospitable" individual on a specific date, contrasting sharply with previous positive interactions with other "kind" staff members. This suggests a potential area for improvement in staff training consistency. On the positive side, the hotel is praised for its responsiveness to in-room issues: "There was a problem with hot water in shower. Service arrived in minutes and the problem was fixed quickly. Excellent service." This demonstrates efficient maintenance and a commitment to resolving guest concerns promptly. While not explicitly detailed, ES Suites properties typically offer amenities such as complimentary breakfast, fitness centers, and business services, aligning with the extended-stay model. The provision of "fully functional and very clean kitchen" within each suite is a major service benefit, allowing guests to prepare their own meals, which can lead to significant cost savings and a more home-like experience. This service is highly valued by guests and contributes to the overall comfort and convenience of the stay. The hotel is also pet-friendly, accommodating guests traveling with their furry companions, though specific pet policies (fees, restrictions) would need to be confirmed directly with the hotel.
The features of The Gardens Sonesta ES Suites New York are tailored to provide a comfortable and functional residential-style stay. Key features include:
- Spacious Suites: A consistent highlight is the "very large room for the Upper East Side." This is a significant advantage in New York City, where space is often at a premium. These suites typically include separate living and sleeping areas, providing ample room for relaxation and privacy.
- Fully Equipped Kitchens: Each suite comes with a "fully functional and very clean kitchen." This feature is crucial for extended stays, allowing guests to cook, store food, and enjoy meals in their rooms, contributing to a more home-like atmosphere and potential cost savings on dining out. Kitchens typically include a refrigerator, microwave, stovetop, and necessary cookware and utensils.
- Comfortable Beds and Bedding: Reviewers specifically mention "Good beds," indicating a focus on guest comfort for a restful night's sleep.
- Large TV and Refrigerator: The presence of a "Large TV and refrigerator" enhances the in-suite amenities, providing entertainment and convenience for food storage.
- Cleanliness: The hotel and rooms are consistently described as "very clean," meeting guest expectations for hygiene and comfort.
- Quiet Environment: Despite its urban location, the hotel is noted for being "quite for the area," providing a peaceful retreat.
- Proximity to Medical Facilities: Its location makes it particularly convenient for those visiting or working at area hospitals, which is a practical feature for a specific demographic of travelers.
Promotional information for The Gardens Sonesta ES Suites New York heavily leans on its key strengths: spacious accommodations, full kitchens, and a prime Upper East Side location. The customer reviews act as strong endorsements for these aspects. Phrases like "I’ve stayed here a few times and love this hotel" and "We would stay here again" are powerful testimonials. The emphasis on "Very large room for the Upper East Side" directly addresses a common pain point for New York City travelers – lack of space – positioning the hotel as a superior choice in this regard. The "fully functional and very clean kitchen" is a significant promotional highlight for guests seeking self-catering options or longer stays. The efficient and quick resolution of service issues, as demonstrated by the hot water problem being fixed rapidly, also serves as a strong promotional point for the hotel's operational effectiveness, showcasing "Excellent service" despite a noted inconsistency in front desk experience. The hotel's appeal to those visiting "area hospitals" is a niche but important promotional aspect, targeting a specific market segment. While direct promotional offers like discounts are not detailed, the inherent value proposition of a spacious, well-equipped, and clean suite in a desirable, quiet Upper East Side location, combined with generally responsive service, forms the core of its promotional message. The hotel positions itself not just as a place to sleep, but as a comfortable and convenient "home away from home" within a prestigious New York City neighborhood, making it an attractive "Scenic Spot" hotel for a discerning traveler.

The Gardens Sonesta ES Suites New York Reviews
I’ve stayed here a few times and love this hotel. But unfortunately this time the person who checked me in - I wish I got his name but did not - was so rude and inhospitable. It was really surprising because everyone else who works there has always been kind. He really colored the experience because of how rude an inhospitable he was. He was working on the afternoon of 5/21 at the front desk. He needs some training on hospitality.

May 16, 2025 · Bud EndressRoom is very large. Nice kitchen size. The light switches were not optimally placed and there was not an open plug near the table. The toilet paper roll in the bathroom is in a very odd location in relation to the toilet and was not optimal. Room was clean. 7 eleven very close if you need things.
May 09, 2025 · Gary SmithMy second stay here. Staff is friendly and accommodating, rooms are clean and comfortable. Room service from local restaurants is available. Hotel provides WiFi and cable tv. This is Manhattan, so parking is difficult unless you go with indoor parking lots. This hotel is across the street from Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering is close by on York Avenue, along with a number of other hospitals including the Animal Medical Center.Restaurants, a Duane Reade drugstore and food markets are all within walking distance. Public transportation is close by.I am a native New Yorker and would recommend this hotel to both locals and tourists.
May 13, 2025 · Denise ComoThe room we were in was spacious. It was a junior suite with a kitchen and had two queen beds,.a couch, mini dinning table and a fully functional kitchen. I had issues with the fact that, the only mode of ventilation was either you keep the windows open or run the fan and on our case we were all sick and to make matters worse, it was raining and cold. The room had a bad smell to it , the kind you get from carpet and unclean couches. The washroom was a decent size but the vanity would fill up with water in no time and take forever to drain. The tub too had the same issue. The room service was good and they would clean the room everyday and leave it as new. Infrastructure wise the room loses point in my mind. They need to upgrade the carpets, couches and plumbing. When we got there , the front desk guys were super nice. Hernan was soft spoken and had a kind demeanor to him and he was also very polite. We got to the hotel at 12.pm and checkin was at 4, but they gave us the room at 2 pm. Michael at the door was amazingly helpful. We wanted to give him a good tip and did tell him we would but couldn't find an ATM of our bank and others were charging us $5 and our bank would charge us another $5, so couldn't use American atms. Sorry Michael. We will come by next time for sure and will remember you always. The location is amazing. Barely 10 mins walk to central park. 25 mins to la Guardia during rush hour and early morning 15 mins. This place is smack in the middle of everything and is very convenient.
