The Watergate Motor Inn in Croton-On-Hudson, NY, might be suitable for a very specific segment of locals or visitors to the New York region, primarily those who prioritize extreme budget-friendliness and a convenient location above all else. For certain situations, its affordability might make it a practical choice, despite significant negative feedback regarding its condition.
For locals in Westchester County, the inn's primary draw could be its remarkably low price point, often cited as the "cheapest place to stay for miles around." This could appeal to individuals or families facing unexpected lodging needs, those on a very tight budget for a temporary stay, or even local contractors and workers needing a bare-bones place to sleep near a job site. Its proximity to major roads like Route 9A and the Croton Train Station makes it easily accessible, a critical factor for people who value convenience and minimize travel time within the region.
While numerous reviews highlight severe concerns regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and overall condition, the very existence of such a low-cost option fills a particular niche in the local lodging market. For someone in an emergency situation, needing immediate shelter, or for those who simply cannot afford higher-priced alternatives in the generally affluent Westchester County, the Watergate Motor Inn presents an available, albeit highly basic, option. Its flexible daily and weekly rates further cater to this need for short-term, inexpensive stays.
It is crucial, however, for any potential guest to approach a stay here with fully informed expectations. The reviews explicitly detail issues such as "disgusting" conditions, "smell of mice nesting," "bugs and spider webs," and "mold." Customer service has also been heavily criticized, with reports of unhelpful responses to complaints. Therefore, while its suitability is purely based on its price point and accessible location for certain very specific, short-term, and budget-critical needs, it is imperative that individuals are fully aware of the significant drawbacks described by previous guests before considering a reservation. This establishment is for those who are prepared to overlook significant comfort and hygiene issues in exchange for the lowest possible cost for a roof over their heads in the Croton-On-Hudson area.

Watergate Motor Inn Reviews
I have never been in a more disgusting place as this. The smell of mice nesting was absolutely putrid. It is Run by India'ns And I don't understand how they are o.k. with such disgusting rooms. I almost slept in my car. I wouldn't even sleep under the sheets. Do no stay here. This Motor Inn is very old and not taken care of even a little. It took a whole day before I got the smell out of my nostrils. I can't say enough how gross this place is.
Sep 03, 2024 · Teresa AngusThis place is disgusting. Their rooms are very dirty, there’s bugs and spider webs inside the rooms, mold in the room and writing on some parts of the wall. When I stayed there I opened the closet and someone else’s clothes were hanging in there. The window screen had been pulled out and left behind the drawers. I would never in my life go back there again. The room’s appearance and customer service were the worst. When my husband asked for a refund after we had stayed there for 10 minutes, the manager/owner asked why and my husband explained the rooms conditions, he responded by stating that the room we were in was the best room he had. Don’t waste your money or time at this place.
Jul 20, 2019 · Andrea Alongisdo not clean the room so well the bathroom door have all handprints and stains on it I have to wipe it down myself with soap and water and a washcloth the marble piece on the floor under the bathroom door besides will fill with dirt how to clean it. We stay there one night. Because other things weren't so clean made me nervous sleeping in the bed I can't even use the bedspread cuz I was thinking to myself did the last person who did they clean it. One thing I must say is that the gentleman that works in the office was very nice and very helpful with other things and we greatly appreciate that I just think they're cleaning lady needs to be a little bit more efficient otherwise it's quiet air conditioner worked refrigerator worked the water pressure was fine. The grounds of kept very nice
Aug 20, 2018 · Dawn PecotinoCosts $80 a night. Will provide a few plastic cups (sealed), a few towels (with stains), and television (one channel - Univision). The bed was clean and made and the floor was vacuumed. The bathroom was not well cleaned (many stains) and contained the occasional insect. Two small bars of soap were provided along with two rolls of toilet paper (one already opened). There was a closet with a few hangers. There was a table with two chairs. There is ample shelving space for clothes. Air conditioning worked very well. Overall, pretty gross but somewhat tolerable if you have supplies.
Aug 26, 2013 · Andrew KaplanVery Disgusting, No Soap, No Towels , there’s holes in the wall and there’s no WiFi at all.
