Other elements, however, may lean towards a more no-frills and perhaps dated experience. For locals or visitors in the New York area looking for a simple, quick stopover without a significant financial outlay, especially when immediate availability is a priority, the West Gate Inn might be a consideration. It is a place where functionality and location often take precedence over extensive modern comforts, catering to a specific niche of travelers.

- Complimentary Breakfast Buffet: The inclusion of a free breakfast buffet is a valuable amenity for guests. - Free On-Site Parking: For guests with vehicles, the availability of free on-site parking is a major highlight. This eliminates the hassle and expense of searching for parking, which can be a significant benefit in many areas.
- Accessible Check-in Area: The "check-in room is very pretty" and the "breakfast room looks homely and clean," suggesting that the public-facing areas of the hotel are well-maintained and create a welcoming first impression.

As a budget motel, the West Gate Inn Nyack typically offers value through its consistently competitive pricing rather than frequent, elaborate promotional packages. However, potential "promotions" or special offers might include:
- Everyday Low Rates: The core "offer" is often a consistently affordable room rate, positioning it as a go-to for travelers prioritizing budget.
- Online Booking Deals: Like most hotels, the West Gate Inn Nyack may offer slightly reduced rates for bookings made through major online travel agencies (OTAs) or directly through their own website, if available. It's always advisable to compare prices across different platforms.
- Extended Stay Discounts: For guests requiring accommodation for several nights or a week, it's possible that the hotel might offer slightly lower nightly rates, though this would typically require direct inquiry or might be offered through specific booking channels for longer durations.
- Seasonal Pricing: Rates can fluctuate based on demand and seasonality. During slower periods, you might find more competitive pricing acting as a de facto "promotion."
- Included Amenities: The complimentary breakfast and free parking are consistent offerings that add significant value to the stay, effectively acting as ongoing "special offers" by reducing guests' overall expenses.

For locals in the New York region, particularly those in Rockland County and surrounding areas, the West Gate Inn Nyack offers a distinct and sometimes necessary option for accommodation, primarily serving a very specific niche: budget-conscious travelers seeking a straightforward, no-frills stay with a convenient location.
Its suitability for locals largely hinges on the primary benefits it provides: affordability and accessibility. When cost is the absolute top priority, or when a last-minute booking is needed, the West Gate Inn often presents itself as one of the most economical choices available in the Nyack area. This can be crucial for locals needing a temporary, short-term place to stay, perhaps during home renovations, unexpected family visits, or for those simply needing a very basic place to rest without a significant financial outlay. The free parking is also a strong draw for locals who rely on their vehicles.
Furthermore, the inclusion of a complimentary breakfast, even if "barely warm," is a valuable practical amenity. It saves guests the time and expense of finding an outside breakfast spot, providing a simple start to the day. The direct location on Route 59 also offers excellent connectivity for those needing to move around the area quickly, making it a functional base for various activities within Nyack and beyond.
However, it's vital for locals to approach the West Gate Inn Nyack with managed expectations, as highlighted by some of the more critical reviews. While it can be "nice, average" for some, others point to significant issues regarding cleanliness, room conditions (e.g., "reeked of cigarette smoke," "wet carpet," "dry red stains," "crumbs and other unknown little scraps"), and potentially unsettling outside presences. This feedback suggests that while it may serve its purpose for budget travelers, it might not meet the comfort or aesthetic standards of all guests.
In conclusion, the West Gate Inn Nyack is suitable for locals who prioritize extreme affordability, free parking, and a convenient location on a main road, especially for very short stays or when other options are cost-prohibitive. It caters to a segment of the market where the primary need is a basic place to sleep, and the expectation is commensurate with a lower price point. For these specific needs, it can be a functional choice.

West Gate Inn Nyack Reviews
DO NOT STAY HERE. This was absolutely the worst hotel/motel I have ever stayed at. This place is built on lies and the facade of being a “cozy” and “friendly” place. It is absolutely not what it seems on the outside. The check-in room is very pretty, and the breakfast room looks homely and clean. However, when you go to your room (including the one I had), it was terrible and gross at best and unstayable and repulsive at worst. Our room reeked of cigarette smoke and other strange smells I couldn’t figure out. As an asthmatic, it is very infuriating that the front desk doesn’t care about this. The carpet in our room was wet when we walked in, and my family didn’t feel comfortable walking on it, worrying we could get a fungal infection or worse. There were also what appeared to be dry red stains on the wall, which we couldn’t confirm to be blood but was likely that. There were dozens of crumbs and other unknown little scraps on the floor and under the bed upon arriving to our room as well. Even worse, there were at least half a dozen shady people standing around outside who didn’t appear to have a car or a room assigned to them. Overall, this was the worst place I’ve ever been, and the people who run this place have the pleasure of having the worst review I’ve ever made over my 2+ years of using Google Maps. DO NOT STAY HERE.
May 20, 2025 · Gwynne MorrisNice, average hotel and rooms. The customer service was excellent, especially Ali (that's what I understood). She was Great. Thank you! Customer service at the free bkfst buffet tho... not so much. Food was average and barely warm, let alone hot.
May 08, 2025 · Alcira Proenza-CollazoThe front desk staff was professional, but the hotel was not the best. The room’s ac made a rattling noise and did not work. A few of the electrical outlets and cords did not work and the room smelled like cigarettes and looked like something out of a 1970’s horror movie. Also there was a lot of shouting on the outside of the room in the middle of the night. Most importantly there was no cheesecake as advertised.
May 21, 2025 · Zach DeweyI stayed in this hotel sometime in July of 2024 with my family. We only stayed one night, but this place was horrendous. The people at the front desk were really nice, but the rooms were horribly outdated, smelled like weed and cigarettes, and I'm pretty sure sometime during the night, I heard gunshots on the premises. The hotel looks very shady too, I wouldn't recommend that anyone travelling solo or with young kids stay here, as the other guests are very rowdy, and the room next door to us had some sounds(yes, you can imagine) going on until 2AM. My mother wasn't able to get any sleep due to this. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone, and hope the lovely workers here get better jobs at hotels which care about their customers.
Mar 22, 2025 · MirageThis was such a horrible experience for my wife and I. As soon as we went in the room the smell of the carpet was so strong and smelled so bad it was awful. The cleanliness was not even a one star, this place was bad! It was dirty, stinky and the bathtub even had mold and pubic hairs. I went to the front desk to speak with the lady in the front desk and told her that my wife and I were not satisfied with the cleanliness and she apologized and told me to contact Expedia for a refund because I booked the room through them but that the hotel would not contest the refund. I reach out to Expedia and told the situation. Expedia tried reaching out to the hotel for 72 hours multiple times and never got a response so they were unable to issue me a refund and I wasn’t in the room 5 minutes and left once we seen how dirty and nasty this place was. Not Recommended At All! Not even a last resort!
