West Point Foundry Bed and Breakfast Reviews
We had an excellent stay at West Point Foundry Bed and Breakfast, and David and Marianne were consummate hosts. The lodgings are just a short walk from the train station and with a beautiful view of the Hudson river. The restoration of this historic house was impressive to see, and we enjoyed learning about the house, Cold Spring, and its visitors throughout time. The accommodations themselves were splendid, and David and Marianne made sure our visit was excellent at every turn. The river, downtown, and hiking trails were a stroll away, and altogether made for an amazing weekend. Such a wonderful way to experience the magic of the Hudson Valley. Thank you to our amazing hosts!
May 07, 2024 · Chris KWe stayed two nights in mid-June as we were attending a family wedding in the area. David and Marianne, our delightful hosts, welcomed us with wine and cheese upon arrival and showed us to our beautifully decorated and immaculate room, the "French Room." Everything was well-appointed and thought-out---there were even phone chargers already plugged into the walls! The bed was super comfortable, and the water pressure in the shower was strong (not always the case in a historic house!)The breakfasts were delicious and varied, and were served on the porch overlooking the Hudson River Valley. We could have stayed there all day long! David's history tour of the house was a real delight and we learned much about the previous inhabitants and important visitors of this historic house, as well as all that went into its restoration.David and Marianne were the perfect hosts--always ready to help, full of recommendations, but respectful of our privacy too.An added bonus is that the house is a very short walk from downtown Cold Spring, with its myriad of shops and restaurants. We had lunch at "The Foundry Rose" which we recommend. We also visited "Boscobel," a beautiful historic property, only a 5-minute drive from the house. All in all, an exquisite and delightful stay in this very special and unforgettable Bed and Breakfast.
Jul 17, 2024 · Marc VincentVery intimate historically significant inn. It played an important role in the early history of West Point and Cold Springs. President Lincoln visited and George Washington was in the area. Absolutely gorgeous views of the Hudson River overlooking Constitution Island and West Point. The little village of Cold Spring is within easy walking distance from the inn and offers many great restaurants and shops. Inn is adjacent to hiking trails and kayaking pond. This is probably the most luxurious accommodation in the area. Marianne's breakfasts are huge and customized to her guests wishes. If you are a history buff and love B&B's, choose this place!
Sep 01, 2024 · Nan DenistonMy husband Tony and I recently had the extreme good fortune to spend a weekend with Marianne and David at the West Point Foundry Bed and Breakfast to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary! From the moment we arrived and were greeted with Prosecco and charcuterie on their lovely porch overlooking the Hudson with a view of West Point across the river, we were charmed by them and their beautiful property. Our room, The French Room, was beautiful with the most comfy bed and a shower that can't be beat! Breakfast each morning on the porch was made to our order and was delicious. It was so delightful to eat in such a peaceful setting! Be sure to have David give you the history tour to learn all about the area, it's importance in our nation's history and the history of the house and the family who built it.Cold Spring is a charming place full of antique shops, lovely restaurants and so much to see and do. We had a wonderful dinner at The Valley Restaurant which is located at The Garrison Hotel and enjoyed seeing a performance of The Queen by The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Players which was exceptional! The second night we had dinner at Riverview Restaurant, equally delicious! We walked to town and went kayaking - lots of fun. There are so many hiking trails, nature walks, birding tours! Trust me, you will want to stay longer than we did!Thank you again, Marianne and David! We hope to be back one day!
Aug 01, 2024 · Mary Alice AcquavivaMy 89 year old mother and I spent a lovely weekend in October 2023 at the bed and breakfast. We stayed together in the French Room which was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Maryanne welcomed us and set out the most wonderful cheese platter and wine for us on the porch. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy each other's company. In fact, we decided to forego our dinner reservations the second night and I picked up a "picnic basket for 2" at the cheese shop in town and a bottle of wine, and we sat out on the porch playing cards, enjoying the sunset, watching the trains, for about 3 hours. It was bliss! Listening to David's talk on the house's history and restoration was a real treat. David and Maryanne are the perfect hosts and obviously have given their hearts and souls to the B&B. A perfect weekend!
