Westgate New York Grand Central Reviews
Staff is excellent. Also, thank goodness, someone finally realized you can renovate a historic hotel and keep it looking mostly like it once did, with just a few modern flourishes. Rooms are lovely, facilities are all useful and welcome. The only change I would make is to play copyright free soft classical music in the lobby instead of Top 40 hits. It costs nothing and sounds better.
May 30, 2025 · Ashok DeshmukhHistoric hotel that has been completely renovated. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, staff is professional and courteous, location is solid. Great value. We are former Manhattan residents and we were very impressed. For the life of me, I don’t understand the mediocre rating on Google. We will definitely be back.
May 12, 2025 · Kerry SweetUnfortunately, my experience at the Westgate has been consistently disappointing. During my recent stay, most of the outlets in the room weren’t working, and the sink wasn’t clean upon arrival. Although customer service informed me I could check in early, the front desk was unaccommodating when it came to storing my luggage or offering assistance. I ended up waiting 30 minutes to check in due to ongoing “inspections.”This is my second stay at a Westgate property, and both times I encountered unwelcoming service at the front desk—staff seemed indifferent and unapproachable. Similarly, the bartenders were very noticeably rude and curt with me, while being much friendlier to other guests, particularly foreign men. As a young black woman I can definitely feel the shift in behavior the bartenders had with them vs me - very rude!In 2023, I stayed with a group of girlfriends and felt the overall atmosphere was not ideal for a lively girls trip. If you’re looking for that fun vibe this isn’t the place. This time, I was traveling with my younger brother and again felt like we were being treated as an inconvenience. There was an overall lack of warmth and friendliness that made us feel uncomfortable with asking for help with anything.Based on these repeated experiences, I would not choose to stay at this hotel again unfortunately. decent location though lol
Apr 22, 2025 · makayla duplessisOur last trip to NYC was a bit of a nightmare, but the staff at the Westgate was able to save the day. We had booked a room at their sister resort. Upon checking in, we were told our room was not yet ready, but that we could leave our bags with the concierge so as to not sit around and wait. Upon our return, we were told there had actually been a problem with their system, and that they were overbooked. No room! We were asked to move to the Westgate. We were not pleased to say the least, and I'll spare you the details, but the manager at the Westgate, Luis, really stepped up to the plate and took care of our frustrating experience. Thank you Luis!
May 26, 2025 · Katia BillickMy husband and I absolutely LOVED this place!! We were super skeptical because of the reviews but I think people that travel to NY don’t understand NY lolThe room was EXACTLY what you need. We used it to shower & sleep while we toured the amazing city. The bus drops you off directly in front of the hotel. It’s so close to grand central station. It was clean & the staff were so nice to us. We were so busy we didn’t get a chance to use the amenities but the gym looked nice and had everything you needed. It was very convenient and we would definitely book there again!
