47 Twin Oaks Trail, Hewitt, NJ 07421, USA

The 4 mile loop (with a one minute detour to NY) took me just over 2 hours. Standing with one foot in NY and one foot in NJ was the best part. Lots of fallen trees on blue, several mild water crossings, gentle incline, easy scrambles. Pretty quiet on a Wednesday afternoon mid March, before the bugs and humidity hit. Lake views from the top are okay. No bathrooms. Parking lot is exactly opposite of the Greenwood Lake Marina. Small hiker parking lot is straight up the hill. - Jen Olsun

Any "promotions" related to the forest would typically come in the form of official announcements from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) State Park Service regarding trail maintenance, new trail sections, or public events (which are rare for such a remote forest). Information about trail conditions, including recent fallen trees or water levels at stream crossings, might be shared by local hiking groups or on online forums, acting as a form of community-driven "offer" by helping others plan their visits.

Hikers are encouraged to check the official NJDEP State Park Service website for general information about state forest regulations, safety guidelines, and any advisories that might impact their visit.
