Bear Mountain Bridge Motel Reviews
Great place to stop on an A.T. hike. Grandpa, the owner, was awesome! Older motel but clean room and hot shower, good bbq joint across the street, he even did laundry and shuttled us back to the trail.
May 19, 2025 · M JSo I hate to give small businesses anything other than a stellar review, but I just want to share my experience with this motel so that potential visitors can make a more educated decision about whether to stay here or choose a different place.I chose to stay here because of excellent reviews, but I wonder if those reviews were made with rose colored glasses or because the owners are kind?Overall I wouldn’t really recommend staying here, I’m so sad to say. I wish I could recommend it as enthusiastically as other reviewers!Rooms: 2 stars. The room we stayed in was very small. No microwave or mini fridge which surprises me in 2024. Had to throw away leftovers from restaurant meals because nowhere to store them. The shower is very bad. It’s cramped and the water sprays onto the shower curtain directly because of the location and type of shower head. So if the shower curtain isn’t fully closed water pours into the bathroom and all over the floor and anything you have in there. I had my toiletries bag right outside of the shower and it got absolutely soaked when I turned on the shower.Towels were ragged and stained, but clean. The bed was OK.Cleanliness was OK. No bed bugs but a table in the room hadn’t been cleaned and the bathroom sink looked a bit suspicious, some spots in the corners I wasn’t sure were stains or just not cleaned well. I was a hotel housekeeper for several years so I have high standards. The cleanliness was just OK. Not gross but certainly could be better but I was relieved there were no bed bugs. The room does have a cozy vibe though and I liked that the entrance to our room was secluded. Also, the heat works well and we were warm enough on chilly days - much appreciated!Wi-Fi worked no issues but the password written in room contains several capital letters that are not actually capital letters in the password (had to trial and error it and eventually got the password right, trying both all caps and no caps). Needs to be rewritten with accurate capitalization.Lots of road noise and you can hear other people in their rooms easily through the walls.Considering the size and condition of the rooms, value for money is abysmal.Value for money would get 1 star or even 0 stars from me. At 145 a night I expect better than just a bed and a bad shower. In addition to housekeeping I worked in the office of a family-owned inn years ago where the lowest priced room was 95 a night and was much better than this. Of course different location and this was back in 2019 but still, this is wildly overpriced. I feel a bit robbed to be completely honest. Paying 100/night for this room would be generous.Service: 4 stars, better than average. Owners are friendly. I understand they help hikers get to/from the Appalachian trail. If this is important to you maybe it’s worth it to stay here.Location: 3 stars, I feel neutral on this. There isn’t much in the area. But if you need to be in the area, that’s fine.Overall I do wish I had chosen a different location to stay at, but that’s me, there are clearly plenty of people who enjoyed their stay here! Just depends on your priorities I suppose. I do wish the owners the best and hope they have continued success. They are friendly people. I’m sad I couldn’t give a glowing review but I just want to give my honest feedback to help others avoid disappointment.
Apr 21, 2024 · Maddie BoyleWe really enjoyed our stay! Cool old feel motel, close to everything and a it was great meeting Grandpa. If you are looking for a place to lay your head and a warm shower, I would recommend a stay!
Jun 15, 2024 · Denis SutterCan’t say enough good things about this sweet little motel and it’s owners. I stayed here for a night before heading back to the AT.The rooms are clean and comfortable and more than fairly priced given that you can arrange a ride to and from the motel from the trail and for a small additional charge, they will do your laundry. The motel is also within walking distance of several restaurants, a Mobil station and a Dunks.Though the area was hit pretty hard by the storms, it’s still accessible and welcoming. The owners, “Grandma” and “Grandpa” are among the kindest people I’ve met in a trail town. If you’re coming through, this is the place to stay.Come show the motel some love!
Jul 19, 2023 · Jamie HWith a memorial service for my cousin at West Point in June 2022, I stayed at Bear Mt Bridge Motel for a few days. It was a positive experience in a clean, comfortable room. Grandpa was great and the motel conveniently located. Breakfast just down the hill was inexpensive, delicious and fun with gracious locals. I would not hesitate to book a room there again. Grandma was so helpful to the hikers and others accessing the local trails.
