Canarsie Park Introduce
For New Yorkers seeking a vast expanse of green, diverse recreational opportunities, and a refreshing escape from the urban density, look no further than Canarsie Park. Nestled in the southeastern part of Brooklyn, at the intersection of Seaview Avenue and Remsen Avenue, this sprawling park is a true gem in the NYC Parks system. It’s a multi-faceted destination catering to a wide array of interests, from serene dog walks to energetic team sports and relaxed family picnics.
Canarsie Park is more than just a patch of grass; it’s a vital community hub that offers something for everyone. Its expansive size ensures that even when popular, it maintains a sense of openness, allowing visitors to find their own space. As one happy dog owner from East Flatbush noted, it’s their "go-to park for walking our two big dogs," highlighting its suitability for longer or shorter walks on "well cared for" paths, even when "not crowded." This speaks to the park's ability to accommodate varied levels of activity and provide a peaceful experience for many.
The park's comprehensive facilities further solidify its reputation as a premier recreational spot in Brooklyn. From multiple play areas for children of all ages to dedicated courts and fields for a variety of sports, Canarsie Park truly lives up to its promise of being a versatile urban oasis. The presence of clean public bathrooms also adds to the comfort and convenience for visitors, ensuring a pleasant experience for individuals and families spending the day outdoors. Whether you're an athlete, a nature lover, a dog owner, or a parent looking for a safe space for kids, Canarsie Park offers an inviting environment for all.
Canarsie Park is prominently located in the Canarsie neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, at the intersection of Seaview Avenue and Remsen Avenue, with the full address being Seaview Ave &, Remsen Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11236, USA. This positioning makes it a significant green lung for the southeastern Brooklyn area. For New Yorkers relying on public transportation, the park is accessible via several MTA bus lines that serve the Canarsie neighborhood. While direct subway access is not immediately adjacent, various bus routes connect to nearby subway stations, making it reachable from different parts of Brooklyn and beyond. For instance, bus lines along Flatlands Avenue or Rockaway Parkway can lead visitors to the park's vicinity.
For those who prefer to drive, Canarsie Park generally offers ample street parking, a highly valued commodity in New York City. As one local reviewer highlighted, "Except at the height of summer weekends, when it is a popular spot for picnics and barbecues, there is ample street parking." This is a significant advantage for families or groups carrying picnic supplies, sports equipment, or simply those traveling from slightly further afield, like East Flatbush, which is noted as just a 15-minute drive away. The park's vastness helps distribute visitors, often leaving parking spots available even on moderately busy days. While not a "Rider's Paradise" in terms of immediate subway access, its "Good Transit" score indicates that public transport is a viable option for reaching the area. Its "Very Bikeable" rating also suggests it's a great destination for cyclists, with nearby streets providing relatively easy access.

Canarsie Park Reviews
Our go-to park for walking our two big dogs from home in East Flatbush, just 15 minutes away. It is not crowded, the paths are well cared for, and there are options for longer or shorter walks depending on how energetic the pooches are. Except at the height of summer weekends, when it is a popular spot for picnics and barbecues, there is ample street parking.
Dec 30, 2024 · Dolores Swirin-YaoThe park is large and has different trails to be explored. They have a couple of play areas for kids of all ages. There are basketball courts, cricket areas, baseball fields, soccer field, and a skateboard, roller blading space. There are public bathrooms that are cleaned. The park does get crowded quickly.
Jul 18, 2024 · Angelica SerranoWas born in Canarsie. We never called it Canarsie Park, to the old timers ⏲️ from here it was known as "Seaview Park" I grew up here playing baseball with South Shore, not the high-school, and hanging out in and around the park which when I reminisce now they are some of the fondest memories that make home 🏡 in my mind. Like all things, they're both good and bad memories. I lost a couple of great friends in there. I miss you Anthony 😔. I miss you too Pete. Roots run deep like memories and feelings, but Our adolescent bliss was truly Heaven. Love and Respect to Canarsies True.

May 19, 2025 · Laura IrizarryNice little park. My husband's school reunion is celebrated each year here. There's a nice little area for the kids too. We were at this park until 11pm. NYC I guess never sleeps indeed.
